Ah, beat me to it. Hoist by your own ignorance there, Ol' Sly.
Those don't count.
Why don't they count? You said Grimlock never bale and leader of the Autobots, were proven wrong, and then it doesn't count? What's your criteria? to count?

Does he look like he is an obvious racial stereotype?
Robots having accents are not racist by the way in fact it's diversity.
Drift wasn't racist either sure he has heavy Japanese inspiration but that's pretty similar to what G1 Drift had going for him maybe a bit more then the G1 guy but still.
AOE Drift may not have been "racist" necessarily, but they did turn up his, now defunct, original samurai warrior shtick to the nth degree by visually and audibly making him very, very Japanese. It can be argued then, by people who are sensitive to that sort of thing, that this makes him a stereotype, not necessarily a negative one, but a stereotype nonetheless.
Personally, I just found drift in that film to be silly. In the film, as with most of Bay's transformers, he didn't have a character beyond his Japanese accent/design.
I think when people say that the transformers films use racist caricatures in their designs they are mainly referring to mudflap and skids from RotF, which, in my opinion, were inexcusable.

Edit: Drift is the mercedes, I was incorrect as I hadn't seen the confirmation that it was Drift. What makes it extra annoying is that I thought it was Hot Rod because the robot mode color scheme and the vehicle mode color scheme for Drift is EXACTLY THE SAME

Not to mention that Marvel G1's Underbase is where the movies even got the first movie's whole "Powerful cubic MacGuffin that was blasted into space to keep away from Megatron, only to be found in the present day and fought over in a massive slaughterfest with lots of casualties, collateral damage, and the main Decepticon instigator killed by taking the full power of said MacGuffin into himself" thing with AllSpark.Burn wrote:SlyTF1 wrote:Nemesis Maximo wrote:Kurona wrote:SlyTF1 wrote:Grimlock never became leader of the Autobots.

It's Marvel continuity, it counts.
Or at least, it is a pretty humongous coincidence with how eerily similar the two are.

The Marvel comics are also where we got the concept of the Creation Matrix (renamed into the Allspark for pop cultural reasons). Or even the backstory of alien robots from the planet Cybertron! The original character names and biographies came out of the Marvel braintrust. If it weren't for Marvel, there would be no Transformers.
So way to spit on the source of the very thing you claim to love, Sly.

Lol I know this is a joke, but I wonder if there actually will be two Primes in the movie. I mean, we DID have that teaser with Prime with the purple eyes. Maybe a clone or imposter?

But....
maybe two Primes in this movie isn't as far fetched as you think! IF they go the whole...turning-Hot-Rod-into-Rodimus-route! YES! i know! given Bay! it's highly unlikely, but still....it's an idea

Why on earth would he then have the same alt mode? It flies in the face of the point of the movie to pimp as many vehicles as possible.
On the current topic, hot rod looks awesome, just not recognizable as hot rod, really needs more red or flame decals, maybe O/P stole his from him
Kinda reminds me of Felix from RvB

Eh? I never said that the other truck was Rodimus! I said it may be a backup truck or something, we don't know if Rodimus is going to be in the movie! nor do we know what his alt mode looks like

Stuartmaximus wrote:Btw anyone have any ideas as to what Ultra Magnus'll look like? or what alt mode he'll take?
I don't think Ultra Magnus will be in this movie for new Autobots we already got Squeeks and Hot Rod and with the AOE bots all returning and according to the same leaks where we first heard of Squeeks the Dinobots will be returning alongside some new "mini-Dinobots" which I assume are the multiple Slash's that were in the AOE concept art that were cut from the final product.
While the Dinobots could also be have minor screen time again like in AOE but more important the same leaks also say there will be an Aston Martin Transformer code named "Cogman" that has a British accent (could be a con too but this character also seems to have Quickshadow from Rescue Bots vibes to it) as well as a transformer character called the Creator (seems to be a nickname not connected to the Creators from Aoe) and people have been suspecting this was the rusty junk truck from filming.
Hasbro might also want to put Windblade in the film since she is in everything these days of course I doubt it but whatever.
Don't forget we also have the Decepticons with Megatron, Barricade, Onslaught, the VW van, the motorcycle con who has not been seen much lately so I assume that character dies early on maybe very early like Sideways in Rotf, there is also that military helicoptor people also suspect is also a con pretending to be military since we have seen only one Heli and it has had a lot of filming done with it and also seems to attack the military at one point and there is also the Dragon creature on the poster.
According to a friend of mine from Tfw2005 (he was an extra in Aoe so he knew a bit about the movie he was one of the guys melting Ratchet's head and I know this is fact and not him making stuff up) he has been around the filming and he said that Bay has been using the name "Warpath" for some Transformer character on set and Warpath like Cyclonus is a popular code name he uses to keep characters secret but Warpath is a tank just like Guzzle could this be a tank transformer in cgi?.
This movie is packed full with Transformers and we don't even know if there are more to be revealed in a surprise like Hot Rod was (we have not seen him on set and being revealed in robot mode before vehicle mode which is a first!) and there could always be the generic Decepticon protoform army!

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Backtrack_(Movie)
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Tyran_511.0_Kappa
Wildrider is a black and red character just like this new Hot Rod who looks like G1 Hotrod and in this alt universe joins up with the Autobots.
Backtrack is a blue Autobot motorcycle like Squeeks (vespa is similar enough) who survived Cemetery wind in this alt universe.
I think these characters were secretly hinted at in some way or it's just coincidence.
and this post also mention Skyhammer and Guzzle would arive in some point in the future and the military helicoptor from filming does give some Transformer vibes (there is only one of them and seems to attack the military according to filming and it's been getting filmed a lot) always could be a Decepticon.
Look at this photo of Bee see the heli?
Why is it in this picture with Bumblebee?

You've heard it hear first folks and I've gone crazy thinking about this and paying attention to every detail in these movies not saying everything I say here is true but it's food for thought and conspiracy theories.

It's a coincidence. Jim Sorenson didn't work with any of the filmmakers when he came up with the Ask Vector Prime entries for all the toy-only Movieverse characters that hadn't yet gotten any fictional appearances at the time.Deadput wrote:I think these characters were secretly hinted at in some way or it's just coincidence.

That's what I thought but I had some fun writing that post and going crazy with trying to find some sort of hint.
What made me look was the Wildrider/Hot rod connection and made me really suspicious with Backtrack and his similarities to Squeeks.

We news what images we get. Sometimes the images are repeated, and the person newsing is tired and didn't catch that they were effectively the same.

Three new Transformers characters will feature, with a generic British background/accent: The Creator, an Aston Martin Cogman, a Vespa Squeaks
We already got Squeaks, and that isn't an Aston Martin, so could this be the Creator if it's a Transformer at all?

In one of the previous shots, you can see them loading up a second Crosshairs into a car carrier. I had just pulled up as they were loading Bumblebee in (bee on the lower deck and Crosshairs on the top deck).
Second crosshairs hiding behind the trucking company's garage:

Like I said it does look great not saying it's bad.
Just saying it might not look great onscreen in those colors in the same vein as how red used to be an awful color for filming things which was actually why they gave Prime flames back in 2007.

Huh, interesting. It's still very... questionable to me why they went with a prototype colour scheme for RiD 2015 rather than matching either IDW or Movie, but that's a discussion for another time and isn't an actual flaw or anything. Just weird to me.

That's my deal with it. The car is mostly black, with red accents. How does he transform into a mostly red robot?
