Transformers 5, directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg and Peter Cullen, is expected to film in part at the Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac beginning this summer, along with several other locations across the state.
“They have filmed several Transformers productions (at the Michigan Motion Picture Studios) in the past, and I expect they would utilize some of the same locations,” says Jenell Leonard, commissioner of the Michigan Film and Digital Media Office, formerly the Michigan Film Office. “However, all production locations are tentative and fluid.”
Leonard says the film’s production will use Paramount Pictures’ last planned Michigan tax credit funds. She says even though the film tax incentive was cut last July, the state must honor existing deals with studios, like a multi-project agreement with Paramount.
She says Paramount offered to return half of a $42 million planned tax credit that was allotted for multiple films to the state. Doing so allowed the studio to allocate the other $21 million exclusively to Transformers 5.
“Paramount came to the table and said if they could apply half of their encumbered incentive dollars to Transformers, they would be willing to give the other half of the $21 million dollars back to the state,” Leonard says.
Michigan’s film tax credit program took the form of reimbursements awarded after filming was complete.
Leonard expects that production on Transformers 5 will start in the summer and will end in the fall. Transformers 5 will be the fourth film in the series shot in Michigan, joining the original 2007 film as well as Transformers: Dark of the Moon and last year’s Age of Extinction. In Age of Extinction, Paramount created a set in downtown Detroit on the site of the former Statler Hotel that was designed to look like Hong Kong.
Studios must prove they are spending their dollars in Michigan and hiring Michiganders in an independent audit conducted before filming, and be in regular communications with the Michigan Film and Digital Media Office.
Studios are required to hire Michigan residents and out-of-towners at a 1:1 ratio. Leonard says the Transformers 5 shoot will create around 228 full-time job equivalents.
“Studios submit a line-item budget with how many hires they would have and submit the script for review,“ Leonard says. “We base the incentive they would be eligible for off that application process.”

but he certainly couldn't do worse than Bay! with Transformers. & YES! of course it's never gonna happen! but i wouldn't say no to seeing what a Transformers movie directed by Uwe Boll would look like, by comparison.

We don't need to, and uwe boll has never done a good movie and very few could be considered so bad they are kinda okay.

Believe it or not Bay is a great director for these movies.
Only things we need are a better story a bit more focus on the Transformers and less sex jokes.

I would like to see some better done combiners but I would want them to work within the movie and not be shoe horned in (I know that's not what you meant rodimus but I fear that if hasbro pushed them in, they would be wasted)

Up-and-coming actress Isabela Moner is being eyed for a lead role opposite Mark Wahlberg in Paramount’s “Transformers 5”, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
Paramount did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Michael Bay is returning to direct the action-packed sequel, which boasts the involvement of executive producer Steven Spielberg as well as a litany of writers including Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman.
Moner is poised to play the young female lead of Izabella, a street-smart tomboy who grew up an orphan and was raised in foster care. She counts a small Transformer as her only friend… until she meets Wahlberg’s heroic inventor Cade Yeager.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto will produce “Transformers 5” with Hasbro, and Paramount will release the film on June 23, 2017. Production is slated to start this summer in Detroit.

Wow that's a bit harsh don't you think also you saying the writer's have a problem as they probably wrote the part with a teenager in mind.
I smell cade getting a foster daughter in the new film. As for the other tidbit...it would be cool if it was the second coming of minicons, they'll cash in on recent trends and have it transform into a hoverboard

And are we going to get more horrible designs like Drift, Brains and Hound with their'hair'?
Also TF 4 had the worst voice cast with Drift, Crosshairs, Brains and Lockdown .

You clearly missed the part where no teenager has ever starred in any film ever, ZW.

How in the PIT does a voice cast involving Ken Watanabe, John DiMaggio, Reno Wilson, and Mark Ryan classify as the "worst"?
Also, if the criteria for bad design is hair, that means Alpha Trion, Arcee, Wreck-gar, Scourge, and Unicron all have "terrible designs" as well.

My only hope is that we finally see the death of Bumblebee in this movie. Please spare me all the comments about how popular a character he is and Hasbro will never... . We all know he is getting his own movie anyway...why not kill him off in this one and set a new movie sometime between 2 and 3 or 4 and 5? I loved Ironhide and he got the boot post haste. TF4 would have been better with Ironhide than bringing in Hound. I loved Hound's design and Goodman rocked it don't get me wrong.
Down with Bee has been my mantra for the last 3 films...hope it comes true. I will be boycotting Bee solo film as well.

So true ZeroWolf...a man can dream though. A prequel to the first film would make the most sense. We could also see a solo film between 5 and 6 as you said. I'll still boycott. I like the RID representation, but it's nice to keep the animated and film universe as separate entities.

I agree with both of these points. I thought the "hair" was done well, and the voice acting was very good. They all did a good job, and Goodman and Watanabe were awesome. Loved them both

To be fair the ages were only an issue because of where the film took place. Had it took place in the UK, there would if been no problem and no one would of batted an eyelid

She should have just been 18 and it would never have been an issue. Instead they go out of their way to make her underage and further out of their way to explain why it's OK. There's something messed up about that.

The sad thing is that they put more effort into the explanations given in that scene than those given in any other scene throughout the movie.Emerje wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:Emerje wrote:Does the guy really need a second daughter? It's most likely a bit of both. It's already shown that the creators have been to earth in the past so it could be an important plot point.
It could also be an interesting way to bring primal and Co into it by saying they are primitive tfs from the days of the dinobots. Though far from satisfactory.
As for shooting around stone henge, I'd imagine you could get permission to do none intrusive shooting on the site bit that's it anything else would have to be a recreation set else where or cgi

The Pyramids are huge and considerably more stable than Stonehenge. Not only that, but the area itself has many other heritage sites connected to it. This is an area they've never even fully excavated to its fullest yet.
There is also the (very minor, imo as it rarely happens) fact that Stonehenge is still used as an active site of worship.
