Have you ever thought what goes into creating the toys, other than design and production, plastic and rubber? Thanks to a tip from Seibertron.com user and voice actor jON3.0, we get a look at voice talents, among others, Rick Sellers, Brad Henderson, Walt Wise, and producer Wes McCraw talking and testing the recordings for the Transformers: Age of Extinction toy line, from Grimlock and Lockdown to Stinger and Bumblebee! Check out the embedded clip below.

And... just, which toys are they recording these for, exactly?

Looking over lists of AOE toys, I can't see any that make use of any electronic sounds aside from Chomp & Stomp Grimlock.

That was my exact same question. Also unanswered.

Maybe it's a feature of Chomp and Stomp Grimlock, when interacting with the small figures? I can't remember if any review shows if that feature is actually a thing or not. :-?

The Transformers Columbia Facebook page has some nice in-package images of the upcoming Kre-O Custom Kreons Wave 3. This wave includes 4 of the Dinobots including Grimlock, Scorn, Strafe and Slug. This wave continues the tradition of chromed helmets, weapons and also loaded with extra parts.

Why do all the other Dinobots have helmet-like faces and Grimlock has a regular mouth? Makes no sense to me.

These and the 2nd wave before it will be the last of my Kreons if they don't go back to putting IDs on the bind bagged figures. Not wasting money on doubles.

Transformers Colombia , a Facebook fan page, has provided the first official in and out of package images of the upcoming Age Of Extinction Power Attackers Galvatron, courtesy of group member Felipe León Nájera. What makes this so special is, he's packaged in a box, instead of a card! This is the first time we're seeing figure packaging like this for a recent US Transformers line. Will we see more? Is this the start of a new trend? Only time will tell, and you'll know as soon as we do!

Galvatron features a spinning chest grinder feature and has a limited, kid friendly transformation as part of the simplified and gimmick-based line of Age Of Extinction toys.

Another sighting from Bounti76, this time for the Transformers Age of Extinction line: the two-pack Evolution Optimus Prime set! Including a repaint of the Classics Voyager Optimus, and the Age of Extinction Generations Voyager Evasion Mode redeco with new head sculpt exactly the same head, just with painted eyes (contrarily to all stock and promo photography) - photo proof below! These figures also come from a Toys R Us in Murray, Utah; make you sure you flag up your own sightings in the appropriate section too!

For our Canadian friends and fellow fans, william-james88 has spotted the Toys'R'Us.ca listing for the Age of Extinction Optimus Evolution two-pack we just reported on. Priced at 49.99 CDN$, it appears to come with French included on the box, meaning that its distribution will not be limited to the Anglophone areas! Expected shipping date is October 17, and can be found here.

Optimus Prime meets Optimus Prime in this awesome 2-pack! You can see the evolution of your favorite Autobot from then to now in these 2 Optimus Prime figures. Both your classic and your Age of Extinction Optimus Prime figures convert from robot mode to semi truck mode and back. Can the Decepticons handle not one, but 2 fighting Optimus Primes? Its up to you!

Includes 2 figures.
Optimus Prime figure pack includes 1 classic figure and 1 Age of Extinction figure
Both figures convert from robot mode to vehicle mode
Each figure comes with blaster
Both figures convert in 8 steps

This is a very interesting picture....you can't really tell from my picture, but I'm positive that the Optimus in the Evolution pack I spotted did NOT have the faceplate shown on TRU's Canadian listing. Odd.

Does this blasted pack come with a faceplate Evasion Prime or not! The shown shows no faceplate while advert pic shows a faceplate! This may be my only chance to get the faceplate variant without paying rediculous prices.

The Kreons... eh. If it wasn't for the names, I don't think I could tell them apart. Think I'll just pass on them.
I really wish they wouldn't cast those parts in clear. Would've been great to have the option to go either Movie-accurate grey or toy-accurate colors, but translucent looks terrible.

Galvatron reminds me of this guy:

Is that really a new head sculpt? It does not appear to have the faceplate, which was first hinted at with an in hands image of these figures. This pic almost confirms that to me. And that means that the stock pic showing the faceplate is not correct.

No faceplate, unfortunately. Someone posted a bunch of pix on w2005.

Wish the "Classic" mold was decoed like Henkei, and EMOP like in the 5-pack.

The back of the box looks nice. With illustrations of MP-10 and the new movie body.

I can assure you the news staff member in question has good vision, the pictures were blurry, we have always been told and shown that it should have a faceplate. As the stock photo from the Canadian TRU also claims. ;)

But as I said above, this appears to no longer be the case.

To be fair, we posted that same batch of images too, but I still managed to miss the lack of faceplate. Though I did I call it headsculpt instead. :-?

Fellow fan and collector, Daim Choc, has posted new images of the upcoming BBTS shared exclusive movie deco Dinobots set. Pictures courtesy of weibo user, uranusdd.

The set consists of Scorn, Slug, Strafe, Slog (oddly enough) and Grimlock (of course). This deco is as close as possible to the one seen in this summer's film, Age Of Extinction. The figures even include what looks to be a "mossy" paint application, to replicate the look the Dinobots had in the film.

Most of the paint apps consist of the aforementioned mossy look, with a few splashes of color thrown in here and there, with the majority of each figure being covered in a dip of shiny chrome, head to toe.

This is our first look at the figures themselves and in their packaging. A price and release date have not been set yet, but as soon as we find out, you will.

Seeing this just makes me sad that the Beast Hunters Predacons didn't get some sort of platinum edition joint color scheme. Like if they had 2014 voyager Predaking, Grimwing, Laserback, Skystalker and Ripclaw all done up in G1 Predacon colors to match the other three Predakings. Different mixes of black, red, yellow, orange and gray. Not to mention Abominus and the deluxe Sinnertwin and Cutthroat or you know, just releasing deluxe Sinnertwin and Cutthroat in the US at all along with Rotgut and the Autobot one.

It would be even better if they did leader Grimlock with deluxe Snarl and Slash like this in another set next year. Along with leader Grimlock with deluxe Scorn and Slash in the SDCC "G1" colors. All eight Dinobots in three different color schemes.

Slash is exclusived as well, meaning we're stuck with the teal version of him like we're stuck with the lime version of Snarl.

True, but pesrsonally I thought slash sucked. Not that great looking in either form for me. I guess I would get him if I went with skittles-colored dinobots for completions sake, but Im okay with him being left out here. I just really wanted this style in Snarl. I guess skittles-bots it msut be.

This particular sighting comes from fellow member reluctantyouth, and a Costco in East Peoria, Illinois, priced at $26.99. Posted by Amelie on September 6th, 2014 @ 1:20pm CDT
We keep saying "long shelf life" and "won't sell" - but we've been saying this since 2007. After even 2 years, you'd think if this wasn't a successful strategy that Hasbro would simply have ditched it. Clearly its earning a profit somewhere, and a healthy one - because they're still doing it 7 years later. ;)
Re: Transformers: Age of Extinction - Creating the Sound of Toys Video Clip (1604464)
Posted by Shockwave7 on September 6th, 2014 @ 1:38pm CDT
Either that or they just think it's cheaper/easier to use pre-existing molds for him. Or perhaps, these are just all the DOTM ones that failed to sell, repackaged, and ditched the mtech weapon...? Maybe hasbro figured it was better to just eat the cost of the mechtech weapons and use this old figure than it was to make 'new' ones.... A sign that even they've given up trying to improve this thing.
Re: Transformers: Age of Extinction - Creating the Sound of Toys Video Clip (1604465)
Posted by Amelie on September 6th, 2014 @ 1:46pm CDT
That might be the case, but that they've been doing this for 7 years now with the movie line still suggests its a strategy that works. If they thought making a new mold would yield a bigger profit - they'd be doing that, so either DotM Bumblebee's tooling still hasn't made a profit (which seems crazy - I can't imagine Hasbro having a sale-or-return policy and that toy was EVERYWHERE during DotM) or they think its still go some mileage for spinning a buck ;)

They're slight repaints, if you must know. Check the galleries for comparisons.

And "repackagings" is a total misnomer. Despite the name, they're nothing more than new product runs using the exact specifications of an older toy. Hasbro does not do repackaging nor buying back stock: stores sell unsold stock to other stores for cheap.

That AOE leader Bumble was such a wasted opportunity. He could have awesome with a new mould in the old Camaro style, but alas we get DOTM Bee (which IMO is a terrible figure anyway) with less paint and minus his electrics for £35.
