Goldbug actually being the beetle has turned me to buying the set. I like it much more now

It is so cool that they went with the name Skywasp. One of the very last characters Fun Pub created.

I wonder how many people will be buying this and swapping parts with the Worlds Collide Bumblebee figure? I was already going to get this, but I'm glad Scorponok is now the only stinker in the set.

Now I'll admit - this repaint pack has some tempting items in it. I didn't much care for Kickback, but somehow the Ransack repaint looks better. The VW mold for Bumblebee was good in the Netflix line. And Scorponok's toy colors look better (because everything looks better in black). The only one I'm not on board with is the Waspinator repaint. Never really cared much for that mold. But if I see this, then I may get it regardless.

That's what people want, but depending on how yellow or gold the plastic is, it might be enough to get this one and do a simple head swap with other recent Bees. Netflix Bee is far too orange in my opinion. I think the best event would be an animation-colored Bee in SS86 or separately in this line, but who knows. It's probably easier to cover the VW licensing expense in a large multipack like this.

Oh wow, I did not expect Goldbug to use the VW tooling! I honestly thought it was going to be a straight redeco of the SG Goldbug figure. I was going to get the set regardless, but this is a very nice treat! (Also that means I won't have two of the exact same figure of more-or-less the same character in different colours at least )

Well that is interesting. With 3 different characters out of 4 (unlike the previous set which only had 2 new characters, and only 1 people wanted), this 4 pack makes a little more sense than last year's. This one is going to be crazy difficult to find I think.

Welp, Goldbug was always gonna be the deciding factor here and looks like I'm gonna be hunting this down A half decent or, as it turned out, amazing Goldbug was all that was needed to tip it into being 3/4 good, 1/4 meh. Now to hope that it's stocked better than the last one

Nice set, always nice to see some updated Throttlebots and Deluxe Insecticons (and pretty decently too). And Skywasp's name is simply genius.

Shame that Scorponok is not really interesting, I'd rather seen the likes of Double Punch.

Goldbug does look nice, too bad I never find these four pack or the bot in question that I'm after at target. If they did preorders for these like they do others I'd have a chance.

I'm wondering if we all just misinterpreted the original explanation and it isn't the mold that Walmart has the rights to but the exact figure/release. The Legacy SW was always going to be a repack, it's entirely possible that their deal was less "we can only use this mold for Walmart exclusives until blank months from now" and more "we can't take the exact same figure we just made as a Walmart exclusive, slap it in a new box, and ship it to every retail chain". Unless the Target and Walmart execs are up on G1 canon, they have no explicit reason to assume Goldbug is Bumblebee and not a different character because he has a different name (sometimes he is a different character even), so in this instance they took a mold tooling that originally released as a Walmart exclusive but repainted it and retooled it into a different character and gave it to a different store, which we've seen done before (Kingdom Sideswipe vs Red Alert, Kingdom Terrorsaur vs BB Toy Terrorsaur), instead of what doing a Netflix Soundwave rerelease in Legacy would have been.

The comic solicitations also show the Netflix mold being used for SG Soundwave, so we'll likely have another data point for this whole thing next month anyway.

Okay, I want all of those. But that's how we are getting the first Beetle redeco?

They're flat colors, no swirly or sparkly stuff that messes things up to speak of.

I missed out on the first set, but truthfully, only Blackarachnia and Nemesis Primal interested me. This set I'm going all in.

Glad it hear its not like the old gold issue. I did end up buying thr original 4 pack for way way too much. Then hit a random target 600 miles away and boom, they had one.

Now I have no choices but to give Toys R Us my money.

I have zero interests in Ransack, but the other two bugs looks pretty awesome at least. There's no voyager in this pack but I bet it will be the same price or more expensive as the previous set, making each deluxes cost 40$CAN each at the very least I bet.

I just hope it's obvious gold color more than yellow so it sets him apart from Bee, other than a different head. I mean hey couldn't even bother to swap out that big cannon accessory. lol

In-hand pics on TFW are showing that not only does Scorponok come with both of that mold's heads, but so does Skywasp/Parasite and Ransack (with Ransack's extra Kickback head being painted to match Kickback's toy deco).

The two head things is nice, wonder if blackarachnia was ever meant to get hers and why the left it out with the original..erm...factory sample had it.

As people love to point out the new SG is about G1 characters in SG colors so a Beetle makes more sense as "correct" in this line. Heck, maybe being on Cybertron it would have been more appropriate to use Origin Bumblebee as the base.

People do keep saying this, and I'll be honest, having seen 8/10 of the SG figures with a hint at the 9th, I don't really buy that being an intentional thing. I can see it being an unintentional side effect at this point because of having mostly G1 molds to work off of instead of the originals mostly being UT molds, but I don't think it's an intended design mentality in play. Blurr, Jetfire, Starscream, Wheeljack/Slicer, and Blaster are all the correct molds (and Starscream especially feels intentional, as they could have incorrectly made him an Earth jet instead of the tetrajet), some of whom even got extra new parts to look more accurate to the originals, and those that are the wrong molds feel circumstantial to me.
-Megatron is still a repaint/retool of another Megatron as he originally was, and even got extra new parts to give him an extra alt mode to emulate that old figure...but that Megatron mold happened to resemble Galvatron, so people are saying he should have been a Galvatron retool instead.
-Goldbug should have been a Hot Shot repaint to be accurate, but there was no Hot Shot to repaint, so they went with a different sports car mold that just so happens to be shared with his G1 self (they may have done it to make sure the head existed to make this new G1 Goldbug, honestly).
-As for Magnus...I think he just got shafted by the desire to make Delta Magnus, and despite that he still managed to get the new right head and extra accessories in the name of accuracy.

We haven't really seen Sir Soundwave yet but we do have hints at him via the comic, and while we know he's gonna be a repaint of his G1 self, yes, the original Sir Soundwave has had a figure and multiple fictional appearances using that mold/design before, and SSW also needs to be that mold to have cassette functionality. I would put that more towards being accurate than being intentionally a G1 palette swap.

This is the one that makes me think otherwise. Unlike the others, Hasbro did have a mold that worked better for SG Goldbug. The Cybertron Hot Shot mold was an homage to Hot Rod, so the actual Hot Rod mold would have been far more suited for Gold Bug. It's deluxe sized anyways.

This is pretty big in the world of Transfomers collecting. While alternate heads are a staple with other Hasbro brands, like Marvel Legends, only recently did we get something exactly the same as how it's handled in Marvel legends, within the Transformers brand. We got an alternate head for Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus and now we have 3 alternate heads in the upcoming Target Exclusive Transformers Buzzworthy Bumblebee Creatures Collide four pack. Skywasp comes with both a Waspinator head and Buzzsaw head, Scorponok comes with the toy head and cartoon head and Ransack comes with a Ransack and Kickback head. The set also includes Goldbug with the Volkswagen Beetle body, which is the first time that mold was reused.

Below are images from Spider-Father and Napalm which show comparisons to previous releases of the molds as well as the original versions of some of these characters.

If they’re giving extra heads, that’s gotta be because they’re trying to justify a price point. They’re neat to have and though.

While I appreciate the inclusion of those alternate heads, I have one question: what's the significance of a Ransack-colored Kickback? Unless that's actually for Kickback himself in order to be toy-accurate?

That's what I was thinking.

Most definitely going to keep the Ransack head on, it feels really weird having Kickback's head on even it was originally his mold...
But it's still a cool option nonetheless!

I just don't get the purpose of these alternate heads. The Toy accurate heads should be the ones included and the already-used heads should just be left out. But of all the figures, they decided to not include an extra Bee head.

Alternate parts are not a solution, they just waste plastic and get tossed in a drawer.

Scorponok look much, much better with the "toy" head. That cartoon accurate head looks like a monkey face.

In the case of an alternate head, I believe they basically have 2 paths through the mold/sprue that the plastic can flow, one for each head. They can gate off one head or the other based on which one is needed. It now appears that they can also leave both open and make both heads at once, which could also explain sometimes the wrong heads on samples as well.
