We received news from the Transformers Collectors' Club that their software update is now complete, and if you have been a member at any point since 2012, you should now have access to the store and the Figure Subscription Service 5.0 (as seen during BotCon 2016). Read more below, and head here to sign up!

This is going out to all current members and former members back to 2012.
We have now changed the software so that members who have been in the system since the spring 2012 conversion can order from the store or FSS 5.0. This also includes all members who have recently expired or have expired since 2012. If you have forgotten your password, you can go to the Club Store and retrieve it under the My Account Section.

To order FSS 5.0 you can click here.

FSS 5.0 is the final subscription offering from the Transformers Collectors' Club. The subscription period ends on May 26 at midnight. If you want to get this final offering, please do not wait until the last minute. These figures will ship in the fall.

I just thought we were discussing personal preferences for collections/where we'd like to see the fiction go etc. Was just a bit surprised to see a stance of one take on Toxi' being straight-up wrong in a tweet to producers of the char., is all.

If we join this, does it mean we'll be eligible for the MP Ratbat and Megatron that they're doing with GIJoe?

How can we get those two figures?

Joining the TFSS will have no bearing on your ability to get MP Rabat and Megatron with the Joes. That said, I believe that those will similarly be available to all members (or former members since 2012).

Of course, the question of when those will be made available is still very much an open question. Seems to me they're running out of time.

If I don't make the deadline, how rough a ride can I expect finding these on the secondary market, in terms of how much they might cost and how hard they'll be to get?

My best response to this is to suggest checking out the prices currently at BigBadToyStore. They offer suggested prices, and you'll see that some of the preorders are already sold out. While its possible they may order more,it should still give an idea of how difficult and expensive some of these toys will become down the road.

Thanks to the Collectors Club itself, we have word that the final Figure Subscription Service has been extended until this Friday at 11pm. We have mirrored the message below for all to read. As you may remember, we have mentioned before that the Subscription is open to all previous members, so if you are included in that list, order up!

The Transformers Figure Subscription Service (TFSS) 5.0 order period has been extended until Friday at 11PM central time.

You can order your TFSS 5.0 until then. Please note, there is no limit on the number of subscriptions you can purchase as the TFSS is built to order.

You can either pay in full or by installment. Also, everyone that completes the full TFSS will also receive a BONUS 7th deluxe figure! This bonus 7th deluxe figure features a head sculpt not yet released at U.S. retail.

Thank you for your support! This is it! The last Transformers FSS! Don't miss it.

Its name is Wreckage.

Alpha Bravo and Offroad are included in the group on the off chance that someone is getting the TFSS 5.0 but didn't get the 4.0 with Impactor and the mystery figure to complete the intended final combination for Wreckage, giving those who missed out another option with two retail figures that they might already own.

While I certainly appreciate options, I don't see how that would work, since Impactor is 4.0 while Counterpunch and Toxitron are 5.0....

If someone gets 5.0 but not 4.0, then they'd be missing Impactor and the 4.0 mystery figure. AB and Offroad's inclusion allows any 5.0 consumers to use them in place of the two missing 4.0 limbs.

Because they're technically 'taken' by G1 nostalgia or lore or something like that - they're free agents, it's scramble-city, swap whom you want where you want them ;)

Because... Alpha Bravo and Offroad have the least amount of characterisation so far and thus are perfect for FunPub's clay modeling practices?

Apologies if I'm misreading the chat, but Wreckage using AB and Offroad as limbs does appear in fiction - that's the focus of the short story, canonizing a Wreckage team that doesn't rely on the 4.0 subscription service.

You're not misreading. I was simply miscounting. I wasn't thinking about taking Impactor OUT to make room for these two. Sorry about that.

We may just see one. Who knows what adding the last two intended members could do with his noggin.

And that is on par with regular CW practices btw. Only regular heads are switched out, but not Combiner heads. Toxitron's regular head is an unused Hasbro design, in case you didn't know.

Hopefully the final product changes. And I'm aware of how the retail products work I was just hoping that since it's a club combiner that they would make a new head for him like they did for thunder mayhem.

Granting that it *does* seem that this story is written specifically to give folks who bought only TFSS 5.0, but not 4.0, an option to create a canonical Wreckage at home, I think we can now accept as a foregone conclusion that no new combiner head is forthcoming.

gotta say, while it's not a new head, putting the Ultra Prime head on the Motormaster body is an interesting twist. I mean, they could have just left the Menasor head on there

Yeah, at first I was hoping they would put the Ultra Prime head on the Motormaster body, but when I learned that there hasn't been a previous case of a reshelled mold having swapped parts with the original mold, I retracted my hopes and resided myself to just expecting the Menasor head in green and purple.

Now that we see that they did manage to use the Ultra Prime head, that's incredible!

I didn't realize that the Japanese Super Link name was spelled as one word "Hotshot".

Though, notice the Japanese figures each have a different headsculpt from the Hasbro ones.

TCC Nightbeat was a product of its time.

Eight years ago there was a lot more limited mold selection, the heads still were done by hand, and communication with the factory was almost nonexistent. So you ended up with Energon Hot Shot as one of the few car molds that were usable, a head sculpt that... well I actually still like (it's very Andy Wildman, which was its aim), and the factory ended up cutting the antennae off the head for clearance without contacting Fun Pub for alternatives.

With that in mind, it was a good figure at the time. I'm not sure how well its aged, but it's earned its place on my shelves and faces no risk of getting resold any time soon.

Here we go, short story long ...

When Nightbeat came out, I was really bummed that he didn't have the antennae. At the time, you could go down to your local Walmart or other big box store and grab a G.I. Joe figure for around $7 give or take a couple of bucks, which I determined some figures came with guns that were the appropriate size for antennae for Nightbeat. If I recall correctly what I did 7 or 8 years ago was buy a 25th anniversary Wildbill. His guns (again if I recall correctly that it was a Wildbill), had some pegs on the side of the gun for some reason (maybe to plug into a holster on his legs or something), which I thought would be perfect to plug into Nightbeat's head if I drilled some holes into the side of his head. Because we were told that the antennae weren't put on from the factory due to "clearance" issues, I wanted the antennae to either be removable or to rotate so that they could stay on when he transformed. The holes were drilled just a tad too big (courtesy of US drill bits versus metric ... anyone know of a nice set of metric drill bits on Amazon?) so the antennae were too loose for what I had envisioned. Because I was bummed about the head and because it took me a little while to figure out a solution, I just never did his gallery at the time.

Fast forward a few years later: after transforming him a few times during the G1 Nightbeat and Generations Nightbeat galleries, I realized that there was more than enough clearance for the antennae during the transformation plus the guns were made of a soft plastic so they'd bend if needed. To fix the loose antennae, I just ended up supergluing the guns in place. He transforms just fine with the antennae permanently in place. It fixes the goofy head and turns a mediocre head into the proper head it should be.

Since I ended up gluing the guns in place (and snipped off the gun's handle), it probably doesn't matter which G.I. Joe's guns you use as long as you think they look like they'd be appropriate as antennas. You also probably don't need to actually drill any holes into the side of his head if you are gluing them to the sides of his head, but mine are probably more sturdy because they peg in plus are superglued. I imagine those store brand army guys that are at Toys R Us and/or Target would probably do the trick as well.

It's one of the few actual "customs" I've done and I'd say I was pretty happy with the end result. :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK:

The Deluxe Energon Autobots suffered from the Powerlinx gimmick, which most of the time involved "flipping" the figure around and having the legs become the arms (Inferno and Tow-Line were exceptions, coincidentally they share the same design philosophy). Hot Shot suffered the most in that with no forward swinging hip joints, and limited shoulder joints.

It's a brick with barely any articulation. From 2004.

So what if it does have barely any articulation?

:MAXIMAL:
During a time when articulation was a long-established norm for TF figures? (barring an interruption with the Armada line's hindered articulation)

Not to mention his combined torso mode has even less articulation and no hands at all (only the ends of his altmode kibble with holes in them).

Compared to his wavemate Inferno, who by comparison was a fantastic figure, the Hot Shot mold had barely any real playability as an action figure, being more functional instead as a paperweight.

Well I don't think that.

Well, that's cool, just know, that most really dislike it with a passion; and they were only explaining to you why people didn't like it, answering your question.

Wow. Wow. I just did a check online and found out that the 100% complete Pirate Brimstone and Pirate Hunter figures I got at Comicon for $60 is actually selling for up to $150. I am so never selling these.

Magazine arrived. Features a recap of Botcon 2016, an explanation of why the Unit-3 figure exists, and the comic features a Pretender Prime hint gorilla in a zoo, Pretender Megatron from the mysterious guy, and Ramjet teaming up with the Mayhem Attack Squad.
