The first would be to rate the series as a whole and say why you think others should take a look. I would need a paragraph from whoever wants to participate and then I would make an article with that.
The other article I want to do is a top 5 list. And that list is "top 5 best Characters in Transformers Cyberverse". Who would be up for contributing to that article, is there a particular character you feel very strongly towards?
Mine would be Hot Rod, I truly believe he comes out as the best character of the series. I also love Wheeljack, Grimlock, Windblade (yes, I said it), Soundwave and Shockwave. Wheelack and Grimlock are rather important to me since they really feel new here. I love the designs too. Of course we'll narrow it down to 5 and that will depend on who you feel passionate about enough to help me write an entry.

Character wise, I think they did fantastic with Dead End, Clobber, Whirl, Perceptor, Hot Rod, and Soundwave. That entire resistance was done very well. Slipstream and Cheetor were also excellent characters and deserve mention

Haha, oh I know I could count you in, I wanted to extend it to others like Sabrblade as well. If you could only pick 2 to write about, which would it be? I am assuming Dead End. And Soundwave is one we agree on as well (along with Hot Rod, though I want to write about him myself).

i think it would come down to Dead End and Clobber.
Slipstream still deserves recognition

I agree. So it would be Hot Rod, Dead End, Clobber, Slipstream and Soundwave in the top 5. That's pretty solid. We have a good representation of the best aspects of the 3 seasons.
Sabr, would you like to write the entry for one of those characters?
Posted by Sabrblade on August 12th, 2020 @ 11:10pm CDT
I'm honored, but I dunno if I could find the time (the pandemic had made my life only busier and busier since my job is one of those "necessity" ones that requires us to stay open instead of making us work from home).william-james88 wrote:Sabr, would you like to write the entry for one of those characters?
Plus, if I were to contribute to such a list, I think I'd be more suited to a "Top 5 Unsung Heroes" list rather than a "Top 5 Best Characters" list. When watching the show, I took notice of some characters besides the best ones who seemed to shine in their own ways but who are definitely not among the show's cream of the crop of characters.
One example would be Optimus. While seemingly the typical Prime on the surface, there were nuances to his performance that made him feel less like the stock archetype we've come to expect from modern Optimus Primes (serious, stoic, burdened with duty, no fun, always speaking grandiosely, etc.) and more like there was an Average Joe buried beneath his prestigious veneer (impatience, stage fright, introversion, a geek-like giddiness, actually being annoyed by some of his fellow Autobots, etc.). Such imperfections or aspects of ordinariness have been scarcely attributed to any Optimus prior to Cyberverse finally allowing its Optimus to have more sides to him than just "inspirational leader".
Another example of an Unsung Hero would be Cheetor. While he too seemed like just another Bumblebee/Hot Rod at first, and while his stock role of "MacGuffin's Guardian" made him also a potential Gary Stu (like how he could use the AllSpark to instantly fix whatever problem needed fixing at times in Season 2), our getting to know him more showed us that, despite his preordained role, he really doesn't know what his purpose is in life outside of said role, and actually struggles to fit in with the other Autobots. That one scene of him and Optimus having a quiet moment together in "Party Down" showed how Cheetor really isn't a people person, but would still like to open up to others more. Sure, he's already befriended Bee and Rod by this point, but they're young like him; he still feels like a stranger around the other older bots. But when he and Optimus step away from the party and just enjoy each other's company on the Ark's hull, that felt like the first real connection Cheetor had made with anyone outside of his comfort zone. And though it was brief, it was beautiful.
Of course, if you feel either of these would actually quality as a "Best Character" instead of an "Unsung Hero" (as I see them), I can edit either of these to apply to that "Best Character" category.

No need to edit, those were great. Might use those for an honourable mention. But most of all, was glad to hear your thoughts on this.

Any fan who has given up on the show should at least give this one the ten minute watch just to see how much the series has grown and how all encompassing it is for what we all saw as a small show. Or just to see their interpretation of Astrotrain.

One of these days we are going to have to package you up and market you. How does "Encyclopedia Sabrblade-ica" sound?
Rescue bots was another decent show as far as transformers for little-little kids goes. With the current brand manager running away to power rangers, and all the current properties coming to a close, and still at least another 1-2 years for the next movie, got to wonder what comes next?
I know leader one and cykill make cameos every few years, so how about...
GENERATION 3! ROCK LORDS OF WARUDERS!

Didn't they change the name of it for the fourth season though? Rescue Bots Academy or something, or is that a different show?

That's the sequel show that came after season 4 ended, set several years later and with a different cast, currently airing its own second season.Rodimus Knight wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Rescue Bots had a 26-episode fourth season, 104 episodes total.Rodimus Knight wrote:The transformers curse, no series to go beyond three seasons, no matter how good the story is.

what about the 2015 RID series? imdb says it went for 4.
Posted by Sabrblade on September 15th, 2020 @ 4:23pm CDT
IMDB is not a credible source. RID 2015 had only three seasons, with the last six episodes of Season 2 being a bonus "Season 2.5" mini-series produced after the first main 13 episodes were completed and which served as an extension of Season 2.megamanfan wrote:Rodimus Knight wrote:The transformers curse, no series to go beyond three seasons, no matter how good the story is.

Most kid shows don't go past 3 seasons, it's what the networks want and is just the "Style." I'd like to see shows go further but it is what it is.

I'd also argue it hasn't been the same show since season 5.

Well, good. Season 5 was Turbo and nearly killed that series. In Space had revitalize it as dramatically as it did, and which was mostly kept consistent for years until Samurai dumbed it back down. Thank heavens for Beast Morphers making it good again.chuckdawg1999 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Yeah, sadly, not all kid shows can be Power Rangers (27 seasons and counting, wahoo!).chuckdawg1999 wrote:Rodimus Knight wrote:The transformers curse, no series to go beyond three seasons, no matter how good the story is.

Power rangers reinvents itself every two years, to me those are all different power rangers shows, one after the other.

There will be a discussion on the cartoon, in terms of our site's top 5 lists in due time, but for now I can say that this is one of the better Transformers cartoons we have gotten in a long while. It combines a variety of elements from Transformers lore and generations to become a reimagining of G1 for today's youth, making something familiar while also new.
The final episode can be watched below and the entire series is on youtube.

bluecatcinema wrote:I thought it was a decent way to end the series, even if it was a little abrupt.
I felt the same way. It feels like a series finale. We get the final showdown to end all Megatron/Optimus showdowns (literally), they tie up the loose ends with windblade and we get a sense of the new status quo post eon long war. It is for sure abrupt when you look at just a few episodes before that had nothing to do with parallel worlds. But it still gives you everything you need for an end.
Come to think of it, Transformers never had strong endings. I wasn't a big fan of Predacons Rising, and while I did like the Beast Wars ending, it gets a bit nullified with Beast Machines. And speaking of which, I still don't get nor like that literal ex machina ending of Beast Machines with the Oracle. And as for G1, well everyone loves the Rebirth right?
