I like the game, but for all the nostalgia it brings, it's a highly repetitive game play with no real objective to reach, and the completely ridiculous crystal system is a joke. Spend money to maybe get a higher level character? :BANG_HEAD:
I really miss buying a game outright and just unlocking new things as you go. I guess I really am G1.

So Magnus and Galvatron are coming soon, but not this event it seems. I'm cool with that.

Is the Autobot alliance just called Seibertron? Because I just requested to join one called that. Would be nice to be in an alliance That actually takes part in things

Who was the one that was so optimistic last week that we could get all 20 crystals?

It is. At present though we're not sure who are members as a few accounts got screwed up. It's out there, but we don't know how active it is. We'd like to bring it back into the fold and build it up as we have the Decepticon one.

That's because at the time there was no indication it'd have the terrible 10BP-for-every-zone system it did. If it were normal we would have had them... oh but we would have had them.

A full 40 member alliance would have to earn 1333 points per member per day, and you get ~30-40 points per fight. To call it an uphill battle would be generous.

Oh, I can hit that score. Those three star shards will get me my first one for my primary con account too. I'm currently at 780. I think CF and Burn and Dizz should be able to hit 2k a day too.

Yeah, some can do it, but that's the absolute minimum. The fewer alliance members, the more each person has to contribute. The lower their level, the more they have to fight. As Burn said, we have lives. I think I average 500 a day in events, because I have a job that gets busy on weekends and this game drains my phone battery even when I'm plugged in. Realistically, we are not getting to 160k.

I know. Sadly the only way to get the best rewards in this is to not need them. The only alliances that will be able to hit that mark are the top ones.

You have a base 12 on your secondary? You sure know how to make a con named Bot feel inadequate. XD

EDIT: Oh yeah, this zone 5/6 gap. Earlier today the progression was natural. Now suddenly zones 1-4 are all sub-1000, zone 5 is 1300, and zone 6 is 3000. This has to be a glitch.

Dunno if it's a glitch or an update, but 3000 is not 3000. I've been fighting in their with my 1200-1500 cons. That part seems to be a glitch.

Okay, filthy Autobots, turn off your optics, I need to give some advice to the Alliance. Thank you.

Guys... bases... let's talk.

I don't like butting into anyone's way of playing (mostly because I'm no expert) but we have a couple of bases in the Alliance that need a little work... for your benefit as well as the Alliance's benefit (remember, you are all potential bases in the war).

I will give you some basics for base layout here, anyone with corrections or additions are welcome to join in the discussion.

HQ placement

You want your enemy (the Autobots) to be dead before they reach the HQ. Or at least close to it.

Put your HQ as far back as you possibly can.

Defend your HQ

Place your defenses so that your HQ is covered by them. The toughest bases for the enemy to take down are the ones where they have too many things hitting them at one time that they can't control them.

When you move your defenses, it shows you a little circle around them. Those are 'aggro radius', meaning the defenses will activate as soon as an enemy enters that circle.

If those circles overlap, and cover the HQ, then lots of things will be hitting the enemy as they approach their objectives... and if they take some of them out, then there's other defenses covering to shoot at them. It is insanely easy to take out a base where the radius were too far apart and the guns weren't firing.

Know your defenses

Did you know that the outposts don't take damage? You can shoot those until the end of the world, and until the bots pop out, the outpost won't take damage. I use them as spacers so if someone brings along a Jazz *laughs uncontrollably* the AOE (area of effect, not Age of Extinction) doesn't do jack, but the area is still defended.

Speaking of outposts, choose your bots wisely. Put your best bots in there with the right abilities. I like gunners and warriors in there myself. Gunners have range and if your enemy isn't paying attention....

Mortars, beam lasers, and missile launchers all have a cool down timer, which are all different, so there will be a pause between firing for each of them. Layer their radiuses with each other so there's always something firing.

Stupid scrap the AI makes bots do

For some unknown reason (at least to me) the AI of the game loves to send your bots after the buildbots when you're attacking someone.

So this is handy on defense. Stick those buildbots somewhere to distract or lure your enemy. Yes, set a trap. We're Cons, we do that scrap. Take advantage of that nuance in the AI for your defense.

They also like to chase down stupid scrap instead of the things shooting at them. So they will actually go after non weapons (walls, harvesters, storage, the HQ) even when something is shooting at them (not ALL the time, but a lot of the time)
Yes, my Kickback and Skrapnel would spend hours shooting at the walls instead of the mortars that are blasting them. (Insecticons have ADD anyway)

The bots generally won't leave a target once they acquire it, so walls... fantastic things to distract them with. No points, and if upgraded, a tough target.

Be mindful, though, your research lab and space bridge give extra AP, so keep them back out of the way.

Those are my basics. Everyone has a different way of designing their base though, so I'm not going to say my layout is best, but those are just observations from being a person who studies the playbacks (of when I'm defending, usually not attacking). I've attacked a lot of bases, and the easiest are the ones too spread out with the HQ undefended (basically stick the defenses in the front and the HQ all the way in the back with no guns near it) or the HQ is right in the front (I love those)

A little note on upgrading....

Don't rush upgrading your HQ and neglect upgrading your defenses. Upgrading your HQ puts your base in a higher bracket in the battle zones, and you will be attacked by tougher players. If your defenses are a few levels behind, then you are barely a speedbump to attackers.

This helps us in war, but also helps you in normal scenarios. The harder it is to defeat you, the less chance the enemy will take your resources... you want to keep those resources. Don't hand the enemy alloy, energon, and medals... you are only making them stronger. You are better off taking forever (ask Burn how long he was at level 12) upgrading all your defenses before upgrading your HQ. You will keep more resources and help us win wars (which will give you sparks, yo).

Walls= really important! Your mortars and missiles can fire over them and will pound your enemy as they try to breach your walls. Some of their bots may not make it.

Status mines= really important! I was a slow learner on this one, but stopping the enemy in their tracks is a good idea. Especially if they are standing there being shredded by your beam lasers or something.

Upgrading your other defenses means it takes more damage to destroy them. So the enemy has to be tougher and you aren't handing out your medals and resources to n00bs. Also, they do more damage... duh.
Re: Transformers: Earth Wars - Return to Crystal City Event (1818272)
Posted by kurthy on August 24th, 2016 @ 12:08pm CDT
Good advice.
Three things to add:
I place build bots in front of strategic targets, it can get people to destroy those with fliers rather than much more important targets like lasers. They also make great spacers.

Having your defenses circled around your HQ isn't as important as it once was now that they nerfed rushes to require buildings be in range rather than rushing a direction and hitting the closest thing to where you clicked. I've been testing this out on my con account for the last week and it is much more affective now since they still have to go through the entire defense and can't reach the HQ.

If you've gotten to 5 build bots, keep an extra one available to burn up alloy on walls so you don't max out your alloy and only get energon and xp from raids (brings up another thing, don't raid with maxed bots, save them for wars and other things that don't offer much xp).

Minor clarification about the AI. The unit will attack the closest building to it, no matter what it is. This is based on the game's calculation of its position and may not line up exactly with where it appears onscreen. Exploit this when building your base, predicting where the opponent will attack, and factor it in when on offense. Not all bots can have Megatron or Optimus's ability.

I've been messing with different base setups for the last week. The no shield bug has helped that along actually. Giving me reasons to try different setups. One thing that I have noticed is mortars are the first targets. Keep em spread out to minimize splash damage fror acid bombers and fire bombers. I like to keep my beam laser behind the hq, some times they overlook it and it can roast 2-3 bots if they don't pay attention. I'm only hq 9 so I haven't really had the space to experiment but I'm working on it.

I just really wish they'd fix the wandering bots, sometimes I just sit back and scratch my head..

My primary target is lasers/missile turret. I have two teams set up that follow a similar attack pattern. Use Razorclaw to dash in and take out lasers (or mortars if I can't reach the lasers) then onto the missile launcher. I use the same method with Divebomb. Mortars if anything, are my third targets and easily hit by rammers.

Honestly, now that I have my walls upgraded, I can't recommend enough to upgrade your walls. They'll slow attackers down and if you deprive them of ability recharges, your weapons will slowly pick them off.

I didn't think we had to specify this but the level 10 requirement for Seibertron is the HQ, not the level number on the top left of the screen.

Also, I am pretty sure one of us has to recommend you go up. Having HQ 10 but shyte defenses that are below level is not going to get you recommended or invited nor allowed to join Seibertron from Seibertron II.

If you have questions, feel free to ask. Someone will have an answer. If you wonder about base set ups, we can help with that too.

Thank you.

Pan force said he was a member. How long into the event do we wait before we begin the purge?

I task you with purging people so you can share the joy of my job!

I give everyone 24 hours... just in case, it only seems fair. I go through everyone who has scored 0 points, and check their base to see when their last log in time was if I hadn't seen them on in the chat box.

I'm mean and usually don't warn people they're in my cross hairs, but I usually give those people at least until the end of the day before they actually make the list.

By the last day of the event.. log ons with no points get kicked.

I'm a lot nicer than other people, I know. Life happens, though, so I try to be fair.

Is it just me or did they start this event earlier than the last one? It seemed like last time they had it occur after 11 AM Eastern for me.

Also got a 2-star Nightbird out of a crystal, so that makes me happy in any case.

This confirms that I may have the memory of a gold fish here. :P

I'm going to try to do more playing today as I've been putting it off a bit as I'm kind of in a mental funk. I hope that it can help my mood improve. Trying to get out of it, but meh... brain chemicals and all that.

Hey Burn, can we get a sticky made of all the important info from this thread copy pasted onto it? That way it doesn't get buried in the banter?

I didn't even know you could see when they last logged in. Awesome. That will make things easier.

So... I bought that crystal bundle with 4x Viper crystals, 4x Headstrong crystals, 2x Megatron crystals (with a chance for a 3 or 4 star Megs) and 10 premium crystals. After getting 0 Vipers, 0 Megs (of even 2 star variety) and only 1 Headstrong, I complained. 20 bucks is a lot of money to spend on characters and not get them.

They replied that the crystals are only for a chance.

Now, no where at all does it say that before you buy those crystals. The only thing it says that there is a chance for is 3 or 4 star Megs. There is no way of knowing that those crystals are reskinned premium crystals. I am waiting for a reply on that fact.

Bottom line, do not spend money on this game unless you want the coins to buy build bots. It's just not worth it.

I got so many duplicates from crystals I paid real money for, I got my first 3 star. Out of 34 crystals I paid real money for, I got so many 2 star dupicates I got enough shards to get a 3 star crystal for my only 3 star. That is messed up.
