While their post is by no means a confirmation of a Star Saber figure, it's hard not to speculate that it will be a new version of the Fan favorite Autobot. If it turns out to be true, this would also be the first transforming version of Star Saber released in the U.S. market; his previous G1 and Masterpiece figures were only released in Japan, as was the Victory cartoon (though the MP was available from online e-tailers in the US).
So are you pumped to see what the big reveal is? Hoping to see what the remaining Kingdom figures are going to be? There's only one way to find out, and that's to tune in this Friday at 11am ET on Pulse's YouTube channel. See you all then!

What I'm expecting: Star Saber, half an hour of babbling about how great Japanese G1 is, and in the final few seconds another reminder that the Shattered Glass line is a thing.
Bad Ending: Half an hour of babbling about how great the 1986 movie is, then Star Saber reveal in the last few seconds.

Immortal Starscream wrote:I still feel it is not the best use of Haslab to put Star Saber there. he really wouldn't need anything more then a commander class figure. Sure, he's big with 3 robots over all, but they are super simple transformations. Maybe if it's the full Victory Leo set. But there are bigger more complex transformers from victory that could do well there, like Lio Kaiser. And what about Deathsaurus? Guess we will see.
It's probably on HasLab as Hasbro don't want to take a risk on the figure at retail and it allows a bit more flexibility in terms of plastic usage then the fixed price point would offer.

I also think this will be what will happen. I am certain we won't get a mention of the Golden Disk line, but wave 4 kingdom might be a thing, just maybe.

I totaly understand that, and I agree, any more would be a bonus.
However, The least expensive Haslab to date is the Hero Quest game, and I think that was $150?? I would be a bit puzzled if it was *just* Star Saber for say...$100.00, any more, then YES you start to get into the argument that the MP toy is superfluous. But again, we shall see.
Also, something I just saw on Pulse makes me a bit nervous, looks like a Star Wars Haslab Rancor is coming soon as well. I hope they don't offer it, and the TF:Victory one at the same time

They announced they Rancor project a day or two after the Galactus project whent live. Hopefully that means that whatever they announce for Victory won't launch until after the Rancor project. Not that having all three franchises have Haslab projects running back to back is a good thing either. They all potentially take backers from away from each other, depending on how much cross collecting there actually is.

We already know the rest of Kingdom's regular releases, no chance of either of them there. However, you did just make me think of something. Haslab Unicron was timed to come out when the TFTM movie anniversary was due and the SS86 line was coming out, meaning there were toys to go along with the Haslab offering.
Granted there isn't a mandatory celebrate the movie anniversary every 5 years thing attached to Victory, but I do wonder if there will be some other regular releases in the next line to match up with whatever Haslab ends up including.

I would not be surprised if there are more Victory figs if HasLab is indeed Star Saber! But I dunno about that many actual figures since the US never saw Victory translated. I’d love to see more though since I feel like we have more than enough G1 updates

What World's Collide mess are you referring to? The set just came out a couple of weeks ago. Just saw one at my Target today. If it's sold out in your area, just wait a few months and your store should get its restock. Or set a tab in your browser to open up Target's page for that item so you can see when it's in stock at your local stores or when it's available online to ship (if you haven't already done this). Just a couple of suggestions. If you missed it the first time around, I'm sure you'll get another chance to get this set again. There's no way a set with 3 or 4 remolds is an extremely limited set.

And I haven't seen it at my Target either, even though I had an employee check and tell me they were supposed to receive 3 sets and they mysteriously vanished off the truck.

It's pretty much guaranteed that there will be no Victory figures in 2022 as that line has been leaked through Target listings (or put it this way, I'll be surprised to see any). However 2023 is wide open and we know through Black Zarak and the rumoured Mineva figure that they are dipping their toe into JG1 waters, so just wait and see for a couple of years time.

Raiden won't be in Haslab since that is for Hasbro initiated projects. Raiden is a Takara Tomy project. He'll be released same as any other Takara MP outside japan, through Hasbro sanctioned imports.
The Haslab project will definitely be Starsabre. We've had the rumour for over a year now and hasbro hinted at it.

Considering again, the least expensive Haslab has been $150 for the Heroquest game, I would be shocked it if was something less expensive than this.
2 CC toys (speculating Star Saber and Victory Leo) would range anywhere from $170-$200. That is a decent start, and I'd be ok if that was all it was. But if it was revealed to contain multiple characters for a correspondingly fair higher price point, I'd be ok with that as well.

Downside: you just have to hope people want it as much as you do. (But either way, Hasbro will see it as a win-win for them)

200 sounds super low. Looking at the kind of projects they do to make up the lack of scaled production work, I'd expect at least 300$

I personally made the goal for myself to not back it unless it comes with Victory Leo, and if for some reason Victory Leo is a stretch goal instead of in the regular package, I will wait until it hits that stretch goal to back it. I don't see how Star Saber is worth it alone

I will not spend more than $150 for a Star Saber all on his own no matter what. If I wanted to spend more, I'd go for the 3P IDW one or the MP on the secondary market. I've passed up 2 this year alone for under $175 shipped.
If they give us Victory Leo, and they make the base Star Saber at least 13" tall, I could justify up to $250. But if they go above $250, I will almost certainly pass unless he is even bigger or there is a 3rd bot.

The IDW version is very different from the G1 version. A new head/mask, shoulder parts, weapons, and chest plate would at very least be needed. Also just because the IDW one is not the G1 version, does not make him any worse. To some, me, it actually made him palatable and not just a gundam thrown into the TF universe.

Though I think Victory Leo or a Brainmaster figure are the most likely stretch goals, they certainly could do swap-out accessories as an incentive.
Though all of the other HasLab products have been $300+, I think it's possible that this one could be lower. Crowdfunding is not only used for expensive items, it can also be used to better gauge demand before starting the production run so that it's more cost-effective. Mattel Creations isn't equivalent, but it's comparable, and they routinely release smaller quantities of lower cost items.

Gundam's are lifeless Robots. Star Saber was a Valiant Hero. But I understand there are many people that enjoy IDW. It was one of the things that made me dislike it however. Some people see the characters as growing/changing. However, when a character deviates from a firmly established identity, that's not growth IMO, that is regression. Saying "Hey lest take this character and make him a Psychotic zealot for...reasons..." Is not creative. I mean people have enough issues with Bayverse Prime being a rage filled murderer, and I understand why.

While certainly possible, I think it's best we think of it as a happy surprise if that happens but plan accordingly to the more habitual prices.
I'll be dead honest, as with Unicron I just don't have the money for a toy above $300 so I am bowing out of this one preemptively.

I hope it is reasonable, because honestly there's no way on gods green earth that they could justify the price otherwise (the only exception for me would be if he was combiner ready and came with victory leo) when the figure will just end up being a figure that could have been done at commander class

I'm thinking for Haslab, you forget the normal size classes and prices. Keep in mind the size/price classes are based on normal retail or exclusive number of production. If Haslab has less numbers, then the price would be higher right from the start. Also if they stick to normal size classes, then there really isn't much of a point in making them Haslab offerings.
On the flip side, making a single figure so impressive and detailed also doesn't make much sense since that is basically the MP line. I know Takara does MP and Haslab is Hasbro, but Takara designers are involved, so I can't see the Haslab offering being something that could have simply be done for the MP line either.
I think instead we'll get something in between a normal commander and normal MP if it is a single figure. Or a set of Victory figures at the normal classes (commander/leader).
Lets say they end up offering Starsabre, Victory Leo and Deathsaurus at $300, hell even $400. I would probably bite on this more than a really nice Starsabre for $200. With a set, you know that those 3 figures are not going to see the light of day again for years. FOMO increases exponentially over just a single figure.
In the end, I'm guessing it will end up being a really nice figure that is just a bit too much for my budget.

I promise you that Victory Leo will not be stretch goal, he'll either come with him or he wont. The two are pretty close to the same size, making Leo a stretch goal would be like if the Sentinel had a stretch goal of getting a bonus free Sentinel or the Razor Crest having a stretch goal of a free Slave 1. Stretch goals are always accessories, optional parts or much smaller figures. Most likely Star Saber's stretch goals would be things like his shield, some extra parts, probably Jan and Patty (and maybe even Solon) as static figures, I wouldn't expect much else.

I understand with Unicron, basically stretch goals were more detailed accessories. I would hope with any Victory Haslab, instead of accessories, or static human characters, as stretch goal perhaps could be some Micromasters? I mean I think most of the Rescue Patrol got released in Siege/ER ? But Holi (Stakeout) was miscolored in the Victory Anime, they could release an anime accurate version of him . Were there any other Micromasters featured in Victory that didn't get a release in Siege/ER? Heck even take the existing CW Helicopter and retool it as Deathcobra.

There is a 2nd tier for 17K, and a 3rd tier for 20K which are hidden at this time...
*edit* Tier 1 Unlock is a Giant Cannon & some Blast Effects.
...and the live chat is losing it's *blank* because that's all there was (no more reveals)
Seriously though, this is something I've wanted for a VERY long time. I really hope it gets funded. I'm not even going to sweat the stretch goals. I just want the characters, and they seem to be well developed.

I'd argue that Rodimus Prime already took us down that path on its own. In fact, tying a specific size to the class is going to lead to more confusion because of the direction Hasbro is going.

Kind of like Kingdom Rodimus Prime...
My point being, size classes are not useful descriptors of anything but the price to consumers. I don't think there's any point in translating the HasLab product type into a size class. The figure size and engineering are in the video. It's not a Masterpiece, it's not a Titan or two Commanders, it's its own thing.
