We now have confirmation from the TFYuki Twitter account that this is not the case: Transformers Go! will be a straight to DVD series, supplement to the TV magazine.
We did get a better look at both combiner characters, including the so far teased Decepticon beast-combiner! Image mirrored from /4chan/ below. And thanks to TFYuki, we now know the names of the two combiners: Gokenzan and Gogekisou.
TFYuki wrote:Transformers GO! anime is NOT TV series. It will be "supplement" anime DVD series for TV-kun and TV Magazine.

i don't like them either but they can't be ****** as they're very popular with kids today (pokemon in particular)
Should a toyline and 'kids' cartoon really be aimed at adults?! if the formula (pokemon style) works with other franchises and sells BIG then why not for transformers too.

So this
Anyway, why are some saying it will be like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Bakugan or even B-Daman and the like (coincidentally, the only kind that gets adapted for the US. Odd...). If anything, I expect it to be like Brave, Eldoran or even Machine Robo Rescue, as I'm not seeing "Gotta collect'em/catch'em all" anywhere. There are more animes than that, people

The combiners do not look like transformers... The aesthetics are kinda off... :/
So, no beast hunters for takara? Why are they releasing BH toys under go! then?
Unless... The BH characters are re-animated and are actually in this show.
As of now, the combiners don't look too great. :/

Ha, we said essentially the same thing at the same time. Compare these with the Unicron Trilogy designs. I didn't like some of them (guns for fingers and such) but they still looked more like transformers somehow. These just don't. I dunno

This is the first Japanese only anime since what, BWII? Of course maybe Hasbro will dub over it and air it on The Hub (dubbed on The Hub) and this'll be the next TF Series that has been teased.

Samurai Team
Jinbu on top: GoJinbu
Ganou on top: GoGanou
Ninja Team
Hishomaru on top: GoHisho
Sensuimaru on top: GoSensui
Basically, drop either "Samurai" or "-maru" and add "Go" in front.

Beast Wars Neo, I believe. I'd love to see some Hub-dubs too, but that probably won't happen until the next TF series after TF4 collapses the Aligned continuity into what's indisputably a continuity-family, or just breaks with it entirely. You know, until Hasbro has to abandon the level of brand-consistency they think Transformers has right now. Sorry Hasbro, but you made the franchise a multiverse since day one; there's no goin' back. Aligned was a very nice try, but we all gotta' move on to the next phase sometime.
An OVA supplement makes sense if GO! is also Beast Hunters. At first, I thought they'd use this anime to pad BH out from 13 eps to 26, splitting each one in half, then airing 10-13 minutes of the anime to pad out the half hour, sort of like Takara doing their own DC Nation block. The approach they're actually taking makes more sense. Looking forward to it.

Anytime there is a popular toy selling in Japan, usually the toy comapnies will compete and try to cash in.
The brave series itself was spawned from declining sale of Transformers in Japan due to Sentai toys selling big over there during that time period. So Brave went the way of 'Gattai' like the Sentai toys were doing. So you got Sentai, then Brave (Takara) and Raijin-Oh (Tomy)around the same time period to compete with each other.
Now there is a new show called Gyrozetter by Bandai which is basically Pokemon for Robots with the typical kid who goes to school at 9 and is able to get a liscence to drive a transformable car. The animation is ok and has the typical kids show look. So to cash in Takara wants to get into the act as well with the Transformers Go!
It took a while but it dawned on me that there is a reason for this and it looks like maybe this Gyrozetter toyline is a hot seller with kids. Takara designs look very similar to the Gyrozetter toys. So to me this is why they are releasing the line.

I'm steering clear of this. Has little to do with Transformers imho.
Fall Of Cybertron is hitting it right on the head, why don't they make a direct to dvd short series about that?
I like the stories written by the West, Japanese are good at designing the figures and painting.
But I am fully onboard if they do a more teens aimed Gundam like series of Transformers.

It's kind of funny how people are rushing to judge this one in the same fashion they did when all we knew of TF Prime was Bumblebee and the kids if I recall correctly. Not that I imagine this will appeal to western tastes.

It's likely due to those two human boys having very stereotypical Shounen anime "young male hero" designs.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Anyway, why are some saying it will be like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Bakugan or even B-Daman and the like (coincidentally, the only kind that gets adapted for the US. That's because those Japanese late-G1 guys and these new guys are designed to resemble the classic Super Robot anime style of the 1960s-1970s.Optimizzy wrote:I know this seems strange since Transformers are from Japan but...has anyone ever thought mow much Japanese original characters look nothing like other Transformers? Dai Atlas, Deathsaurus, Star Convoy...and these. They look more like Gundam than transformers. They are too ornate and there are far too many colors. It's not like there are rules for making a transformer but these seem like built machines rather than "living" things. As Gundam they look cool. As Transformers, I'd pass as they look like some closeout-store knockoff.
Though, they're more like Brave than Gundam.

I don't even think "Samurai" is part of their name, since the listings we got from that one Twitter-based news post didn't have them. i think it was just a descriptor some online retailers used.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:GoKenzan and GoGekisou? Well, okay, it gets more interesting by the time Liokaiser is finally filler, but the majority of it is padded filler in which almost nothing significant happens, and many of the characters are wooden archetypes who are all almost as formal and uptight at TF: Prime Optimus.
Star Saber himself literally has the personality of a cardboard cut out (since, well, he is one. A cardboard cut-out leader-type, that is).
Ginrai is the only Japanese Autobot commander who ever had any legitimate depth and/or developmental growth. Not to mention hot-blooded awesomeness.

You sure you're not talking about Masterforce? Because that's boring
The entire story is weird, how can kids survive their back breaking and their bones twisted
The villans are laughable.
Also, I'm surprised christian tf's arent complaining over the Super-God part....

If by "Boring" you mean "rich in storytelling with compelling action, lively colorful characters, intense plots, wondrous enchantment and mysticism, and full of lore and excellence", then yup!Superwheeljack wrote:You sure you're not talking about Masterforce? Because that's boring
Because they don't have any? Once they're in their Suit Modes, their bodies were biologically altered into Super Robot Lifeforms with no traces of any organic components (aside from their heads, which still resembled those of carbon-based lifeforms).Superwheeljack wrote:The entire story is weird, how can kids survive their back breaking and their bones twisted
Well, Blood, Gilmer, and Dauros did get some great bits of comedy as the series went on.Superwheeljack wrote:The villans are laughable.
The word they're saying is "Choujin", which only means "Super-God". And, the Japanese aren't talking about the Judeo-Christian God anyway, since Pure Land Buddhism is the main religion over there. Plus, it's not like the show is explicitly preaching against Christianity or the like. It still holds the same morals of good triumphing over evil and such, and is a rarity in TF cartoons in which a good chunk of the Cons gain redemption in the end.Superwheeljack wrote:Also, I'm surprised christian tf's arent complaining over the Super-God part....
Not to mention how it's a 28-year-old Japanese cartoon that's barely had any official release in Western markets, appealing only to a very niche market, so it's not like it's anything relatively mainstream enough to catch the eye of the church to raise arms against it. It ain't like Pokemon, whose condemnation only lasted a short while and eventually died down and faded into obscurity as that franchise's popularity increased.
There are numerous religious aspects in plenty of children's cartoons anyway. It's not like any shred traces of that automatically make a show blacklisted. It's only when the show is big enough and presents religious denominations in a negative fashion. Masterforce hasn't had nearly as wide of an appeal to be even remotely noticed by such groups, nor does it focus on painting them in bad lighting. It's just another obscure anime in a niche corner of just another fandom.

The plot for Go! is as follows: As an intended sequel to the Beast Hunters story, the Autobots succeeded in sealing away Dragotron (Predaking) with the help of an artifact called a "Legendisk". Now, Team Prime has left Earth to oppose the various Predacons running loose across the galaxy. However, some Preds still remain on Earth, and hunting them down has been tasked to six new Autobots (the two new combiner trios), who are three samurai and three ninjas.
Whether or not this will actually match what happens in the Prime Beast Hunters cartoon, however, remains to be seen.

And with a story like that, I certainly wouldn't mind Hasbro putting these guys in a new show. Just as long as they they don't touch the anime.
Also, as for why they look like Braves, someone at Takara probably said "Hey, remember our other line of transforming robots? Let's make more of those but put them in a Transformers line"
And Va'al, how did you get into Unicron's colon?
