COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION
EPISODE DURATION: May 24th - May 31st 2013
With his superior missing in action and presumed dead, Starscream has stolen the Exponential Generator from Doctor Arkeville, and plans to use it to destroy the Earth and harness the energy to restore Cybertron! With the help of Ironhide, Sideswipe and Red Alert, you must seek and attack Starscream and his minions, before time runs out and the Earth is destroyed!
Assemble the strongest Autobot deck you can! Scan all sectors to uncover Starscream's Minions. Battle them to weaken them. Ask your friends for help. Time is running out.
WHO MAY ENTER
Anyone is free to enter after reaching level 5.
EPISODE RANKINGS
When the Episode ends, players are ranked according to the amount of Episode Points they've accumulated, with high-ranking players receiving powerful limited edition TRANSFORMERS Legends cards!
PARTICIPATING IN THE EPISODE
For this Episode, an Autobot Character card paired with a Autobot Weapon card will get a Faction Affinity Bonus when facing Starscream's Minions! Make an entire deck of Autobots for an even greater bonus!
- Find one of Starscream's Minions when scanning any area.
- Battle the Boss!
- If the enemy is too strong, work together with your allies to defeat the enemy!
- Earn special rewards with Episode Points. Everyone who participates receives rewards!
FINDING STARSCREAM AND HIS MINIONS
After starting the Episode, you can find Starscream's Minions through exploration. The Bosses can be found in both Decepticon and Autobot missions, but an Autobot Character card paired with an Autobot Weapon card will receive a Faction Affinity Bonus while facing Starscream's Minions.
BATTLING THE BOSS
After finding a Boss, tap ACCEPT to engage in combat. The amount of time available for the battle depends on which Episode Boss you face. Battling a Boss consumes Battle Cubes.
You may battle a Boss as many times as you like within the given time limit. If the Boss’ health drops to 0 before time expires, the battle is won.
BOSS BATTLE STRATEGY
Assemble a deck with 9 Units. They can be Decepticon or Autobot, but only Autobot Character cards paired with Autobot Weapon cards will receive the Faction Affinity Bonus when facing Starscream and his minions.
Stats
- A Unit's position in your deck determines the bonus applied to its stats. The front row receives a 3x bonus to both HP and Attack during battle, while rows 2 and 3 receive a 2x bonus.
- Unit’s HP: (TRANSFORMERS Character Card HP stat x Weapon Card HP %) x Position Multiplier.
Event Bonus Character Cards
- Boss Episodes include special TRANSFORMERS Character cards with Attack Power that is increased by an additional factor of 3 or 5 times for the duration of the Episode.
Faction Affinity
- Unit’s Attack Power: (TRANSFORMERS Character Card Attack stat x Weapon Card Attack %) x Position Multiplier.
- Each Autobot Character card paired with a Autobot Weapon card in your deck will have its Attack Power increased by a 5% Faction Affinity Bonus.
- If all of your front row TRANSFORMERS Character cards are Autobots equipped with Autobot weapons, then the Faction Affinity Bonus will rise to 10%.
- If all TRANSFORMERS Character cards in your deck are Autobots equipped with Autobot weapons, then every card in your deck will have its Attack Power increased by 20%!
WORK TOGETHER TO DEFEAT THE BOSS!
If a Boss still has HP after a battle, you can ask your allies for help.
REWARDS FOR ALL
If the Boss is defeated within the time limit, everyone who participated in the battle receives Episode Medals. Additional rewards, such as more Episode Medals, Battle Cube Recharges, and bonus Episode Points, are granted to players who accomplish the following goals:
- First Blood: The first player to discover and attack a Boss.
- MVP: The player who deals the most damage will gain bonus Episode Points.
- Finisher: The player to deal the finishing blow to a Boss.
- Rewards for Joining: Everyone who participates in a Boss battle receives rewards.
- Friendship Bonuses: Defeat a Boss with enough players and everyone will earn extra rewards!
- Rewards for Joining: Everyone who participates in a Boss battle.
- Rewards are only earned if the Boss is defeated within the time limit.
EARNING EPISODE POINT BONUSES
You also earn Episode Points in addition to rewards for defeating a Boss.
Receive rewards for achieving certain Episode Point levels.
Rankings are determined by the amount of Episode Points accumulated at the end of the episode.
High-ranking players receive limited edition Rare and Super Rare TRANSFORMERS Character and Weapon cards.
IMPORTANT
The terms of the Episode are subject to change without notice.
Medals obtained during the Episode will be automatically converted to normal Silver and Gold Warrior and Weapon medals within 24 hours of the end of the Episode.
Any items obtained through bugs or exploits will be confiscated.
Episode Ranking Rewards will be granted within 24 hours of the end of the Episode.

It's the same screen that has been used since the insecticon episode which tells us that they've had at least that piece of artwork done since then. I would be willing to guess a tone of episodes have been planned, maybe even a years worth.
I wonder how much of the reducing and screwing over of the rewards was planned since the beginning as a marketing and sales ploy.

The only way it could possibly be done is indirectly. It would be necessary to introduce R5 and maybe even R6 cards and distribute them properly. As in, do not give them to every Tom, Dick, and Harry that downloads the game.
Giving the top people in the episode EVERY reward card is a terrible idea. The top guys should get the top card, the middle guys should get the middle card, and so on. The game is flooded with episode cards and now sucks for it. I'm completely tossing out the idea of completing the cyberdex. Its a lost concept that the developers have abandoned long ago by making it impossible to do. Handing out rewards should not be done with this is mind.

Hotrodimust wrote:I see all these post about starting with 300 or more battle cubes. Do you buy them because I start an episode with what ever they give you now and I can beat the first 2 cards with 1.5x. I'm able to get about 95 to 100 battle cubes saved up b4 I have to use to or get help. Energon cubes are not a problem they just keep rising I have about 320 and they never go down. Also on the fist day I always break the 1000 rank I get down to about 750 and after I wake up I'm back at 1500 to 2000. This is my 4th episode since the game came to iOS and I've cashed in about 5000 gold and silver medals and only pulled 2 LV 4 cards bumblebee and jazz alt mode but my friend gets LV 4 cards like its nothing. It sucks because I always finish higher in rank than him to. He already has both alt and bot mode for side swipe on the first day and got then from medals and he pulled grimlocks LV 4 alt mode. All I ever pull is a ton of lv3 cards that I do not need. Is there a set amount if cards you have to pull b4 getting a LV 4 card or is it just pure luck?
Most of us just save cubes from previous events and they build up over time. R4 pulls are completely random. One event, I pulled 7 R4 cards between robots and weapons, 2 other events I pulled 3 R4 cards, all other events, I've pulled 1 or 2. I usually accumulate the same amount of medals per event, which is in the thousands.
Not sure if you guys have seen these links:

You guys probably noticed the update about improved help requests that will search your ally list. Guess its time to remove everyone from my ally list except for whoever is in the top 100 consistently so I get help from them no matter what (only kidding). If the ally system does start working properly though, I look forward to team seibertron group kills!
On another note, I've been thinking about why I play this game and what would make me spend anymore money on this game.
Reasons I play:
- Love transformers
- Game is mildly fun to pass the time
- Love the artwork
- Nostalgia
- Fills that weird obsession for collecting transformers stuff
Reasons that prevent me from spending anymore money on this game (listed in order of how much I care about the topic, top being most concerned)
- No possible way to complete cyberdex yet
- No trading
- Episode rewards nerfed
- Game feels like its in BETA with the changes they make every week with no communication to the customers about it (hopefully the previously mentioned blog will fix this topic)
- Prices are too steep
- Pay to win has become too over powered
- Non-event game has no depth, needs more story and single player
Has anyone played Mobage's other games. I tested Rage of bahamut and I'm currently playing The Powerful: NYC. The seem to have a lot more depth to them. The Powerful has a trading system and a built in "black market" to buy and sell cards in game with other players. Where is this for Transformers?
I then had a thought. Maybe it's not Mobage, maybe is the other companies involved that pull the strings and Mobage is just a go between stooge to take all the heat. Are DENA and the other publisher or even Hasbro partially responsible for the limitations and subpar performance of the game?
Anyone have insight?

"Got to say, this is the worst event yet! Mobage are really being tight with the prizes now and paying through the nose for characters. I appreciate it's a free game. I love the Transformers. Have done since a kid, but Mobage are squeezing this for all they can now. The battle cube structure is a joke. And it's not sour apples on my part as I've finished in the mid 100's every event without spending a penny. I just feel sorry for those that do. And the times between events is ridiculous. They are really taking the fun out of this now."
I don't believe for 1 second this person has finished in the top 100 every event without spending money. Maybe I'm being cynical, but I just don't see how its possible with how many people are blowing money on the 5X cards. Or maybe this person has absolutely no life or they mean they are hacking the game for infinite cubes or something. (if you are this person, please tell us your secrets)
After reading the posts at tfw2005, most of them being in the top 100 every episode, they openly admit to spending money every episode. What's worse is they sit around and gripe about the game (same as we do) but keep spending money on it expecting it to change.
If any of you are on the tfw2005 site, I don't mean to offend you, just repeating what I see on there on a daily basis. I know I can't categorize all of you as being the same as I'm sure some of you don't fit the description I just mentioned.

I've been playing for a while, lv 51, and I NEVER get lvl4 cards. I think I got one TWICE, in all this time (one during the Abominus ep, the other right after the last event we had). My point is that I play this game for a reasonable amount of time, and I only get in the 15-20,000 rank. If I put in a lot of time.
I run out of battle cubes pretty quick if I'm trying to place in the 20k rank. Maybe my deck of lv3 cards just aren't doing it? I've maxed them out proper, too, and I'm still not getting anywhere near you guys.
So yeah, it's either pay-to-win or hacks. I just don't see how a normal player (who isn't spending extra on this game) is advancing to the levels/ranks stated in some of these comments...

Another thing i don't agree with is that it is nearly impossible to get your rank up without spending some many. I have only had one episode where i got up to the top without doing much of anything and not spending money, but i look at the top 100 people and they have to be spending something to get those x5 attack point cards. :/ I thinks its a bit unfair to those who cant get any money to play the game and without spending money you cant even get the best of cards! Thats not fair.
I spend most of my day playing this game, with getting though everything I feel like I'm stuck at the same rank. I like Rumble and would like to get him, but at this point i don't see how its possible. Starscream is the one i really want but you have to be the top 100 to get both bot and alt form so i might as well give up now while I'm at it.
I need a break from these, seriously. Do they try and make this impossible for people?
Also they need more missions -.- Instead of doing all of these Episodes, get some more missions in here.

MoralChaos wrote:Dont get me wrong, I really love these Episodes, but some of you have to agree with me that they put them up too close to the last one. I need a break from these things once in awhile. Just a few weeks separate from each other would be nice.
Most of what you said is pretty accurate except this statement. I don't understand your logic here. If you "need a break from these things once in a while", whats stopping you from taking it? Joining the episode is optional, as in you don't have to.
There are a lot of things wrong with this game right now and its easy to blame the developers for a lot of things but forcing you to play the game isn't one of them. Your same complaint is littered all over their Facebook page and it frustrates me.
Newsflash: the beauty of their constant episode schedule is that you can do them on your terms, when you are ready. Because if you need a break, there will be another one in 7 days.
On a side note, I'm having possibly the worst day in the history of TF:L. I haven't cashed in a single Starscream yet. Every snipeable for me Screamer is defeated before I can throw a cube on it, even if I'm watching it and pushing the button to fight it as soon as it pops up on my screen.
I don't know if this is lag or just bad luck. I have been on and off of the game for most of the day since I woke up and have fallen in the rankings because I've earned practically no points all day.

I agree that lvl 4 cards should drop more frequently. 1 in 2-3k gold medals is ridiculous.
That said I don't get why people think they are going to get anywhere with this type of game without spending money.
Why would it be free?
I bought the three pack on my first episode and got lucky w half of both Razorclaw and Divebomb.
With those 2 cards, Lvl 3 Grimlock, Prime, 4 other lvl 3, free Skywarp and 4 days worth of obsessive button mashing I finished in 250-1000 bracket (barely). It can be done, total spent like 10$.
Not an unreasonable sum for as much mindless entertainment it provided.
And I have no idea how people finish in the top 100 unless they leave their x5 cards unfused and have a full deck of them. 2 cards x5 > then 10% buff. A full deck of the faction bonus with that likely is super OP. Just a theory.

I believe he is saying around 500 or so. That would mean mid hundreds...I can see that happening with constant play and good cube management.

No one expecting the game to be free. Were expecting the problems and gouging to be fixed then we'll spend money again.
Your $10 purchase was extrememly lucky, the game is now fixed where you cant get both halves of a 5x card unless you buy the guaranteed $30 bridge or you spend up to about $12 and get extremely lucky that you pull a 5x instead of the 3x. If that doesnt happen, hey just spend another $9 and we'll give you the the 5x but maybe not the half you want, for another $15 we'll give you the other half. Thats a lot of money for 1 event. People over at tfw2005 already admit they spend about $40 to $50 on average PER EPISODE and they dont like it but they do it so they can be in the top 100. They generally end up with 2 5x cards and at least 2 3x cards after all the spending. We wont even talk about the luck of drawing both halves of these cards from the bridge. Yes it can be done but it will be too late in the episode to end up in the top 100.
But wait, we can get to the top 100 by sniping well and being a bot player all week with no life. Oh no you cant, thats not lag your seeing as robot health updates slowly. Mobage seems to have intentionally made it update slower to prevent sniping.
I spent no money last episode and was a bot player, i made it to the top 500 but i was several million away from getiing to even the top 150.
The deal is you either need to buy cubes all the time to keep up or you need to buy the bonus cards so you infinicube everything but the last couple lvl 6 bosses.
Have you looked at the damage some of these guys do? 138 million on lvl 6 omega supreme with 1 cube. Now those 5x cyclonuses are worthless in this deck because the farthest your getting wothout at least 1 complete 5x card is 1 cubing starscream lvl1. My deck power is just under 11k and i can almost 1 cube SS lvl 1 and im proud of that.
So if your willing to spend the cash go ahead but remember this, all the money in the world cant complete your cyberdex yet, not until they bring in trading or something.

After the day I had yesterday, I'd believe this. But is this speculation on your part or has this been said somewhere else?
If this is true, this is the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. I'm not interested in spending money on individual events every time. When I spend money, I believe I am investing in something. When I spent money on this game, I did it with the thought that it would make my deck better for the longterm.
But if they have taken measures to eliminate sniping, then the gains that I made with the money I spent are essentially lost. So then, would be my continued interest in playing.

Yeah, how dumb is this? Admittedly, its an awesome card though. And I'll confess, after saving up resources for the last 2 1/2 episodes and being totally onboard with giving this episode a serious effort in the beginning, if they were upfront about the true rewards from the beginning, I would have seriously and heavily considered spending money on this episode.
An episode Megatron and Starscream are worth the effort and those are great prizes for one episode. But to do this on the 4th day, when the top 100 is already out of reach for probably 75% or more of players, is mind-boggling.
The irony here is: I wonder how players out there are like me, who could have and probably would have spent money on this episode in the beginning but now won't because its totally not worth it. For how much of a cash grab this game has become, I wonder how much money they missed out on by pulling this silly manuever.

It is speculation but I wasn't the first to have the thought. I read it at tfw2005 and on the transformers legends wiki site, could be the same person, but many people now think so.
So how about Megs showing up right in the middle, this was also something people were guessing at.
Awesome card, but I'm still not game to spend any money on this event even if I knew Megs would show up from the beginning. I take solace knowing that Prime will show up later and be better...
then someone else, then someone else, and so on
I'll just save my resources until an event comes that maybe a lot of people don't care about the character like an R4 Huffer or something that will completely own.
After playing several other Mobage games that have been around longer than Legends, those games seem better developed and have trading options. My thought is maybe they are gouging for money this early to develop the game and it will get better. I'm just going to go casual for awhile and see what happens, I've contributed to the development cash wise and left comments on the facebook page that Mobage said they wanted for help. I'm going to try and look at the game in positive light from now on, if it doesn't get any better, then at least the artwork is being cataloged on the internet by somebody hopefully and maybe another company will pick up the license and do it justice.
To everyone that is going to participate, I hope you get the rewards you want. My new goal is to complete the original cyberdex of R4 cards before episodes ever started. If I can do that, I'm happy.

Not saying the game is not in need of some big fixes, I'm saying you can do fairly well spending 20$ or less an episode. What else can you do for 6 days straight for 20$?
And as someone above said, just don't play a round if you don't want too

Not saying I agree or disagree, I'm just saying your perspective is off. Saying "what else can you do for 6 days straight for $20" is not a good perspective or at all relative to whats happening here. You should be comparing this game to other games. And if your perspective was true, your question would have been "what other game could you play for 6 days straight for $20?" And the answer, quite frankly, would be almost every game ever.
People think this game is a ripoff for a very good reason. What other game can you think of requires the monetary investment that this game does just to be competitive at it?
You talk like spending $20 to do "fairly well" at an episode is no big deal. But again put into perspective, thats $20 a week or $80 a month. No game ever in the history of games has ever cost that much. No MMORPG that required a monthly subscription fee, no FPS that requires internet connection, no game ever.
And I'm the person who said to take a break if you're not ready to play and I standby that. But the alternative while you're taking a break is to not play. And those choices suck. Because there isn't anything else to the game. You either play the episode or you don't play anything. And if you play the episode and don't spend money, well you're just spinning your wheels for no reason because you'll never get a top prize.
To be clear, this game is not good or deep enough to warrant being one of the most expensive games ever, yet somehow it is. This fact alone renders this game a complete farce. Its too bad too because it had serious potential.

Okay, a few people expect the game to be free and have everything given to them, or they don't have the money to be competitive and they don't feel that's fair. I'll admit my statement was too broad.
But seriously, it's free to play with pay advantages. I would like those advantages to be worth while and entertaining, they're not. I've spent $40, $20 on dinobots episode, $20 on robots in the skies. I finished in the top 500 on one, top 1000 on another. I've played since day one on android way back in november, participated in insecticons, didn't do so hot because it was very buggy and glitchy but still finished in the top 2500. Finished top 500 in fatal furies, top 500 in cold delivery, and top 2500 for unleash the beast as I didn't have cubes to spare. This episode I'm sitting out after I gathered my cubes and sniped some, saving resources.
Whether I spent money or not, I had to play hardcore daily just to defend my rank, managing cubes wisely, sniping when I can, and only battling the boss worth the most pts at the moment.
I can find way better things to spend $20 on, especially if its going to be for entertainment. I'd rather pay a monthly fee for this game like WOW or XBOX live does to get bonuses rather than pay $20 per episode. Hell, most of your top 100 pay $50+ per episode and gripe about it all the live long day.
joesaysso said it best, if your unhappy, speak with your wallet and don't spend anymore money.
As for not playing a round, I play to gather resources so I can play hardcore on an episode that I really want to participate for the rewards. I want to play, and I would like to spend money to make it even more enjoyable, but it's not worth spending money on.
I know we get people that whine about the episodes being back to back to back, heck it irritated me the first time, but when I realized that I may never complete my cyberdex because those cards that have been missed are not accessible by any means, I stopped worrying about it and have been playing casual ever since.
I think joesaysso has to repeat the "sit one out" speech every week to a new player that comments on it.
Bottomline, the game not worth spending money in its current condition, especially the amount of money expected to win the top 100 in episodes.

I agree on everything you say and i am exactly the same way. I mange my cubes, though in this episode i have sadly run out, but still mange in the top 2000. I see of it as when you enter the game and how hardcore you start out is were you will be for the game. I was in the top 19000 When i came in and got down to 2000 no problem, without spending any money. Other games top 200 and 500 without spending any money.
Some of you say, "Why play if you don't want to, just don't play the episode" Well, i love to play the episodes, there fun and exciting, just not when its all the time.
And Yes, i have better ways of spending my $20. Saving it up to buy something that is real. Why would anyone pay up to $50-$100 on a game that isn't real?! Just to get the good stuff? Be at the top? But ask yourself, where will that get you in the real world? Thats why I don't spend money on games anymore, it got me no were and ended with me having no money for real life things. You people who play these games, just have no life? I do and i play these games and still get the best cards without spending a dime.
Its really sad.
Loved how Megatron game into the game thought XD That was a grand entrance~

If the game is truly enjoyable, I will spend money on it because you're investing in your own entertainment. An example would be going to the bar with your friends and buying beer. Your going to drink it and really get no value out of it but a good time but you spend the money on it anyway. If this game could provide good times like that, I would toss money at it every now and then, I'm sure you would too but it sounds like you haven't found a game worth spending money on for awhile, and that's okay. When the top 500 people were getting at least a single copy of all the boss cards, it was more fun and I think more people enjoyed because they were getting more bang out of the episodes. Now with the half cards and the really limited bridge drops, it just doesn't feel the same. Even if they can't get trading down, they should start adding episode sets to the bridge. They could put the insecticons, mirage, and hound from the first episode in right now and in a month, add the dinobots. Of course that may get into their money if people start expecting the episode cards just at a much later date.
You know what's really ironic? I spent $40 on this card game yet I won't spend $30 to buy the upgrade character packs for Fall of Cybertron. How dumb is that? It's beside the point and a whole new rant for me.
And Megs crashing the party, it was funny and classic at the same time, but it has made MANY people upset because they would have participated if they had known Megs was the big daddy reward this time.
Makes me wonder how they are going to wrap this up. They always end with the raid cards somehow stopping the 4 boss cards. No effing way is red alert, sideswipe, and ironhide stopping Megs from doing anything. They'll probably just say Megs got his house in order and is readying another attack, all the while the autobots sat back and watched screamer get the scrapping he deserved!

People think this game is a ripoff for a very good reason. What other game can you think of requires the monetary investment that this game does just to be competitive at it?
You talk like spending $20 to do "fairly well" at an episode is no big deal...
I don't disagree with you about your over all position. The game is full of things i would prefer to have different. It just satisfies me enough for me to feel OK about spending X on it every week. This week I spent zero because the prize was not interesting to me. I still used the first round to add 150 cubes to my inventory.
My perspective is just fine because while other games are cheaper, I have no interest in playing them. A Fiat is cheap than my car but I have no interest in driving one...
Ultimately the free market will decide a price for any item. When enough people decide they can't justify the cost of this game and are able to control their impulses the price will drop. If you, or I, decide to quite playing for cost reasons, yet enough people keep spending for the publisher to profit to their expectations, I guess I will just do with out.
Perhaps I should have worded it what else can "I" do for 6 days straight for 20$. Other people can do what they choose.
I could go outside and collect rocks for free but don't want to.

Never mind.
Episode Megatron - 5193, 13456, 622
Normal Megatron - 3615, 7200, 438
There goes any uniqueness my deck had. My one non-episode card is now worthless.

I hadn't even looked at the rewards before I sunk a ton of time in the first day just plugging away to get around 1000 and get my cells up. Then I looked at the reward list and realized I didn't want to continually grind for any of them and there was no way I was going for Starscream as I knew I woudln't be able to crack the top 100 and stay there. I figured I'd sit this one out, especially if that's how they were going to deal with rewards.
So I popped on and helped out a few times here and there, then got on this morning to see Megatron and all the rewards bumped down. Now I realize what they were going for impact wise, but the way they had it now I could have had a shot at Starscream at least if I'd stuck with it. Right now I'm sitting just under 10k in placement and I could care less. The only way to get back in it now is spend money.
I get far more out of the other free to play games I'm involved in like Dungeons and Drgaons Online and Star Wars the Old Republic and have to sink less time in to getting somewhere without dumping $10 in a week. Yes I realize they need to make money, but when my VIP subscription to an MMO is cheaper in a month than this game on my phone is over two weeks without grinding for hours on end, there's an issue.
I'm not saying you guys shouldn't play it and that the devs are terrible, this is more me saying why I'm just going to pop on once or twice a week maybe even on the weekends to help you guys out with your bosses, but actively, I'm done, and yes I mean it this time. I hope you all continue to enjoy it. They do have some great artwork, but I can't justify sitting hunched over my tablet or phone that much over the course of 6 days hoping I finally get that matching level 4 pull that's never going to come. Good luck to you all.

Your Fiat example is comparing cars to cars. Initially, you compared this game to all other sources of entertainment. This is what prompted my "perspective" comment, which I stand by. I won't try and convince how they should spend their money. That isn't my place. I agree with you, the game will go with the majority. In the mean time, I'll continue to pick and choose my spots to play the game to fit it within my budget. For the record, I think its a bit sad that you think dumping $20 a week into this game is one of your best valued sources of entertainment. But thats a conversation for another time and I'll concede that my opinion really shouldn't matter to you anyway.

My one non-episode card is now worthless.
Yeah thats pretty much how that last couple episodes have made me feel about the one mode of regular R4 Jetfire and elite Starscream each that I have had for months and the elite Skywarp that I got to drop from the bridge 3 weeks back, pretty worthless now. Hate to say it but might as well throw them all on the pile of worthless R4s since the episodes dropped. Add Flamewar and Chromia to the list. I'm sure Optimus and Grimlock will soon follow.
Pretty soon we will be full of episode R4 that are worthless too. I've already got an R4 Fire Star from fatal furies that doesn't make the cut in my deck and I have low deck power and haven't even participated in the last 2. 3 months ago, I would have killed for one of those other modes (Galvatron too) so that I could have just one scanned R4 in my deck. Now I've got one that I don't know what to do with. This game is in a sad state right now.
I have not changed my mind though, despite the sad state this game is in, I saved my resources for this episode. Since they added Megatron, it means I do have a shot at Starscream. I'm not spending money but I will spend the saved cubes that I have to put me in a position to try and get top 1000 and a complete Screamer set.

It sucks for me too, being semi-new: I pretty much play without any assistance from episode-only cards and cash. It's more frustrating than it is fun.

Its a huge slap in the face, especially considering how difficult those cards STILL are to pull and how long some of us have been holding on to them, wishing for the other half to scan.
Those stats you posted regarding the two Megatrons, just stupid. How is this Megatron almost twice as powerful? Twice! 100 people are going to get a scannable Episode Megatron. Given the odds of pulling R4 cards from the bridge, I wonder how many people actually have a scanned Elite Megatron.

Haha, I'm sure Mobage and DeNa were really upset that they had to give people another chance to spend more money.

Thats still a good pull, though. Until the devs do something to make R4 cards not the best cards, I'll never tire of pulling R4 cards out of the bridge. Worthless or not, its still one of the real highlights of this game.

I just noticed it says "limit 2" at the bottom, I was wondering why people were saying they used it twice on the first one. So for a meager $120, you can have 4 sideswipes, you're almost guaranteed* an episode Megatron, the best** card in the game.
*No guarantees or satisfaction expressed or implied. May require additional purchases of cards and other resources. No refunds or warranties on defective bridges without pending approval from tech support. Players have choice of strawberry or cherry lube for additional 1000 mobacoins.
**Definition of best is neither expressed nor implied. Terms, stats, conditions, and satisfaction subject to change without notice. Status of "best" subject to change weekly as new cards are released.

Yep, thats pretty much Mobage.
You know, in all seriousness, I'm not sold on the importance of the 5X cards or whether or not they provide any advantage. In a day and a half, I've climbed 5000 spots without them. Sure they provide some advantage in the beginning because you can infinicube a lot longer, but only for small points. By the time the points get bigger and the bosses get tough, the playing field levels a lot more. You're still requiring help to get your points, which in turn, gives other people big points.
I guess I'm saying I don't think it guarantees anything. I'd rather have a larger amount of cubes than the 5X cards. A regular deck seems just as capable in aquiring big points at the end of the episode when everybody needs help anyway.
Posted by mooncake623 on May 29th, 2013 @ 9:58am CDT
for this episode I would be happy to get 10k and get the full set of reflector. But... I doubt it'll be possible not using any cubes.

mooncake623 wrote: How many cubes do you guys usually need to get say to top 1000?
My deck power sits between 9970 and 10050 depending on episode bonuses. I don't pull the trigger on an episode until I have at least 300 cubes saved up. This episode, I had 504 before Starscream became available.
Ultimately, I probably won't use that many. The last time I took a serious run at an episode was the Fatal Furies episode, I finished in the 360s rank. All told, I spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 270-280 cubes. But theres more players now and its better to have too many and have some leftover than to run out. Having some leftover means your are ready for another run sooner. Not having enough and running out before the episode ends means you wasted every cube that you spent on the whole episode.

It depends on what rank you are shooting for. If you are aiming for top 100 they are pretty much required. I can do inifiniplay on my deck of 11230, but once the second wave of bosses drop I am cut off. Those with 5x cards get to continue inifiniplay until the next wave of bosses hit (usually 24 hours). Yes at the end of event it becomes more about cubes then deck power, but building huge leads as most players in the top 100 do early makes catching them very difficult. Take a lookat some of the point totals in the first 24 hours of the next event.
Also this episode sideswipe will be nearly as good as elita1 and jetfire post episode.

I think I'm repeating what diseptikon is writing but here is my theory/experience:
The bonus cards make the biggest difference in the beginning and the middle. They allow you to infiniplay way longer in the beginning to gain a lead. Obviously, this depends on how many you have and what your previous team rating was before you got the bonus cards. My rating was 11190 beginning this episode and I could 1 cube all the way to lvl5 rumble 100%. Starscream lvl1 I would average 17 mil. One red alert would have allowed me to 1 cube SS lvl1 and an MTM RA would have allowed me to 1 cube SS lvl2. A MTM Sideswipe would have allowed me to 1 cube SS LVL5 if my calculations are correct.
Mid play is all about sniping (unless you have a ton of cubes). If you have bonus cards, you end up sniping even megatron with 1/2 life as opposed to waiting for him to get down to only a few million before you attempt it. (This is why I theorize mobage put a delay on the HP updates, so you would have to guess at sniping unless you were a power house, you'll waste more cubes hopefully)
Late game is all about cube management and opportunity at the best pts bosses.
In the middle of all this, time is your most valuable resource. The guys at tfw2005 who regularly get top 100 admit to all day weekend plays and as much during the week as possible, sometimes til 2 AM on weeknights even though work comes in another 5 hours.
With all that being said, joesaysso has a point about the cubes, if I save 1000 cubes over a few weeks, you can bet I'll throw a cube at almost everything that comes as long as I've got time to play.
joe, you up for a challenge? I'm already going to boycott this June and not spend money (haven't spent any the last 2 events), I'm willing to save my cubes the entire month, come July or so(barring any stupid changes) you and me wanna take the hopefully few thousand cubes we can muster and make a run for 100 on a decent episode?
All are welcome to the challenge if they like.
Posted by joesaysso on May 29th, 2013 @ 1:55pm CDT
Monuo, I'm always up for a challenge. Although, not spending money on this game won't be much of a challenge. I'm generally tight with my money anyway. Not giving any to Mobage for a month will be a piece of cake.
Saving cubes for all of June may be a bit harder. It all depends on what the reward cards will be. Theres a few characters that are sacred and will throw a wrench into those plans. I'm still pretty furious that they pulled what they pulled with Megatron this episode. But we can take it one episode at a time and judge them as they come. Count me in.
It would be nice to get something going as Team Seibertron. Since DeNa has claimed to have taken steps to increase the chances of your allies being in your help list, I have seen a noticable upswing in the number of allies requesting help this episode. Its not a dramtic difference but it has been noticable. And I know that the one time I paid attention to who I was requesting help from, 2 of my allies were on the list. Perhaps this is a coincidence, perhaps it isn't. Its certainly worth monitoring as we go forward.

You have to remember, I haven't participated in an episode since Fatal Furies. Every episode since then, the only objective was to accumulate cubes. Once the bosses got to where I could not one cube them, I would only log on periodically to snipe something to get my time earned cubes converted to inventory cubes. If you do it right, you could probably save close to 200 cubes an episode. Its easy enough when you stay low (or is it technically higher) in the rankings. You'll never get passed huge bosses and you'll stay in sniping range of everything you get. You just have to commit to nothing but cubes and not caring at all about getting even the lowest card of an episode.
I really figured they'd wait on Lvl 6 Megatron. I figured we'd see Starscream today and Megs tomorrow.

Man! It's getting worse I think. The battle update is even slower. The worst part is the app froze and crashed more frequent. I even noticed when I kept the app open and saw the boss countdown timer stopped running. Had to reset it. And later my phone reminded me my energy is full but when I logged in, it's only half full.
By the way, level 6 Scream and Megatron started to show up.

Twice I played from the get go for 5 hours straight and I could only get to rank 40 something and #1 seemed to always be double my pts. Something I've been doing to help speed my encounters up is to retreat or decline every PVP, card cash, or regular mission boss so I can scan again. Missile taps are the same speed whether you do or don't. This helped me go a little faster. Also, never worry about spacebridge until you know your taking a break from boss kills. It's enticing to look at bridge pulls but its just moving your ranks down if you can still be killing.
As for saving cubes, I say this now, but I don't care about the characters anymore, they are just cards with stats. We could get an R5 huffer that puts previous cards to shame. I already can't complete the cyberdex so I'm going to save until I know I can make a go for 100 and earn me something awesome, if I wait for a named favorite, all the better. Now we'll see how hard I can hold true to this if episode shockwave shows up, make me squeal like a giddy school girl.
I'll be on a cruise for the last week of June but my goal is somewhere close to 1000 cubes. Maybe that will be closer to the end of July, who knows, guess we'll see. I'm at 190 cubes, 650 or so energy.
Team Seibertron all the way! Anyone want to design us a quick icon to put in place of our mobage gamer pic. TFW2005 is doing this so they know who is actually playing, they've all already removed people they don't think are playing and added their top level friends who participate so they know their bosses are going down.
Congrats on top 1000! You can hold it no prob, just keep pushing for Screamer, he'll be your best card yet and well worth it.

Absolutely. How many ec's do you have saved up?
My up-to-the-minute status: Rank: 737, Battle Cubes remaining: 382, Energon Refills remaining: 345, Time remaining: 2 days, 1 hour
I like my position but bosses are starting to time out with more regularity and my queue has been slow to fill the last couple hours.
Ok some tips for you:
Use up those EC's to get 3 free BC's. Use enough to get yourself all the way up to 4-5 more scans to level up. If you see no bosses in your queue, try to trigger a boss fight with your remaining scans without leveling up. This should spawn for help requests. Wait until you see a mob of bosses that you want to tag, then level up and hit em with free BC's. Personally, I would only tag Megatron at this point, and make sure to tag the ones that look like they will die. Be patient.
Make sure to keep an eye on your refill timer as if you are within 10-15 minutes of getting a freebee I would wait on leveling up. Tagging three Megatrons every hour or so should keep you relatively in the same spot without spending your actual BC's. This should get you through to the final day with at least 300 cubes remaining. REMEMBER: Rank 251-1000 earn the same rewards! Use only what you need to get comfortable, but dont waste any more than you have to. I try to keep a buffer of 5-6 Megatrons between me and the rank 1000 guys points. Tag whatever you need to keep that range and you should be good.
Good luck.

Yeah, Episode Shockwave would be one of those. Add Episodes Optimus, Grimlock, Galvatron, Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Soundwave, Devastator, and Unicron to the list.

This is so simple that its brilliant and it never occured to me to do this. I basically do this when I am saving cubes for future episodes but I never once thought to carry it over to the actual participation of the episode.
Good call, Kon. Thanks!

Yeah it took me a few episodes before I realized how I could be making them work for me. Just for reference, Im at level 320ish and it takes about 12-13 cubes for a full level. If you scan non-stop you can get a full level in around 15 minutes.

**Edit**
The threat of severe weather and tornados (again) has gotten me out of work for the day. This has allowed me to put the time in to get back into the top 1000. It felt like forever climbing the 176 spots that I had to climb to get back inside the bubble. Now I'm hoping the storms stay away and the power stays on long enough for me to defend and hold my position.
