That's too bad. The show just had its season 4 mid-season climax with episodes 90 and 91 featuring the long-awaited completion of the Rescue Bot Training Center on the mainland.o.supreme wrote:Probably the same person who insists on packaging single disc releases of random episodes and not proper season sets. Its official, my son told me the other day he is no longer interested in Rescue Bots. He still likes other Transformers, but he has "aged out". I don't blame him, I know things change, but whereas before I would have purchased full season sets for him, now I have basically no reason to.

And it was another crossover with RID as the Mini-Con was a Cyclone and Sideswipe guest-starred.

Sideswipe is getting a RB toy, yes. And there are RB Mini-Con toys, but not like Bounce. IF he gets a toy, it'll more likely be in the RID line since he was drawn in the episode in the same exact design as Ransack an Backtrack, but with a different deco. The RB Mini-Con toys are instead little helper animals that turn into rescue tools, like Servo.Stuartmaximus wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Looks like Ryan/Seibertron finally got his wish in today's episode with there being an enemy Cybertronian in this one (albeit, a Mini-Con rather than a Decepticon).

I've seen the Gameplay of WFC & FoC, and watched all of Prime/RiD15, and *some* of Rescue Bots. I wasn't sure how integral the Novels Exodus/Exiles/Retribution were to the Aligned continuity. Perhaps I should give them a read.
Posted by Sabrblade on September 15th, 2016 @ 9:43am CDT
Though, the novels did the colony worlds thing of TF: Cybertron before IDW started doing it.o.supreme wrote:ok...so after watching the new episode of RiD...my son then decided he wanted to watch the new Rescue Bots..cause I told him I saw on this forum Sideswipe was in it...We watched it...I usually don't catch obscure references but in the beginning when Blurr was racing on the track, and Heatwave said something about "You want to be as fast as Override?"-- I thought that as odd because that was a reference to TF:Cybertron...but I did some research...turns out in the Exiles Novel, they introduced Velocitron etc...Seems like the Aligned Continuity is coming more and more close to the IDW G1 continuity, trying to integrate transformers from all different series...
Forewarning: The novels (especially Exiles) are not well written at all (though, I will argue the Retribution was the most-readable of the three), but do provide a LOT of backstory and lore information not found in any other Aligned media (save for the Covenant of Primus book).o.supreme wrote:I've seen the Gameplay of WFC & FoC, and watched all of Prime/RiD15, and *some* of Rescue Bots. Thanks. Just for comparisons sake...how do you think these novels stack up against the Hardwired/Annihilation/Fusion trilogy? I know most fans didn't care for those. But I kind of liked them...at least I seem to recall having mostly positive memories...except the ending. I only read them once over a decade ago. They still sit on my bookshelf with other novels from various series.
Also...I keep wishing they would release the covenant without the whole Autobot symbol/toy thing.

As one of the few people who read that Keepers trilogy and didn't hate it with a passion... at least there's no human gore or Earth product placement in the Aligned novels? I dunno. Neither trilogy is great by any measure. They're both boring at worst and so-so at best. If I really had to pick a preferred trilogy between the two, I guess I'd go with the Aligned novels since I did genuinely like the dynamic between Orion Pax/Optimus Prime and Megatron in those books (even if the books' attempt to portray Megatron in a sympathetic light still came off as him sounding objectively villain-grade evil more often than not).o.supreme wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Forewarning: The novels (especially Exiles) are not well written at all (though, I will argue the Retribution was the most-readable of the three), but do provide a LOT of backstory and lore information not found in any other Aligned media (save for the Covenant of Primus book).

If you're going by iTunes's episode releases, iTunes messed up their release order and put out episodes 101 and 102 before episode 100, and put both 101 and 102 out two whole weeks ahead of each's TV airing date.
Something must have gone really wrong there. The order in which all three episodes aired on Discovery Family is like so:
#100: "A Brush With Danger" - October 1, 2016
#101: "To Infinity...And Back" - October 8, 2016
#102: "Family Business" - October 15, 2016 (yesterday)
Though, I must admit that I actually prefer the mistaken order that iTunes released each episode in because that mistake allowed "To Infinite...And Back" to get released first as the 100th episode instead of "A Brush With Danger". The reason I prefer "To Infinite...And Back" to come first as the 100th episode is because it feels more like a 100th episode than "A Brush With Danger" does, what with Dani's test piloting mission in that episode being her 100th mission, and the overall scope of the episode being so grand and epic and wondrous. It just feels more like a celebration episode than much more mundane "A Brush With Danger" does.

I guess that must be it! coz Family Business i saw last week, and that Infinity one the week before, i've just read that the 2 part Morocco story is next! just hope they don't show those in the wrong order! otherwise we'll have the outcome before the set up.

There's still hope for more to come. D.C. Douglas has Tweeted that the show may continue if Discovery Family decides to order more episodes.o.supreme wrote:haven't seen it yet, but I'm thinking it should be the series finale as well. There has been no word on a 5th season. Every announcement of renewal has always come shortly before the previous season ended.
And I don't see why they wouldn't since A) this show seems pretty inexpensive to make, given how long its been able to run so far, and B) there's yet to be any signs of Hasbro wanting to end the Playskool Rescue Bots toyline, so Hasbro would likely prefer to have the show that advertises the line continue to do so.
If this is the end, I wish it wasn't but I'm impressed by how far it's gotten in its run (longest-running TF cartoon in history), though I kinda feel that the season 3 finale would have made for a more satisfactory series finale than this one. It was still good, but I think season 3's finale was the best one so far and felt more like a proper conclusion to the overall story (and, IMHO, it felt like the best season finale of all of the Hasbro Studios-made TF cartoon season finales).

Kind of like Teen Titans Go!...Though I will give RB much more credit than TTG in that it actually tries to provide a good message to small children, not just outright stupidity. Still for kids who grew up with RB, as I've said before, they are aging out. My son was just shy of 6 when it first aired. He is 10 1/2 now. he said we would watch season 4 if it is added to Netflix, but is much more into RiD15 now. That's not to say there isn't a new crop of children coming along that the show would appeal to, but if that were solely the reason to keep going, then no show would ever get cancelled right? I am impressed as well, for a show that offers nothing to myself as an older Transformers fan, it somehow produced 6 more episodes than the Original Series (but that's just because Marvel/Sunbow got cheap at the end...but I digress). I think for some RB is a labor of love whereas The Original Series was just a "job" to most involved, they had no idea what they were making would have such a profound effect on so many young people. The industry has changed quite a bit in the last 30 years. Of course hindsight is 20/20, but if some of those folks knew the impact they were having with the Original Series, it could have easily continued for a long time to come.
Posted by Sabrblade on October 24th, 2016 @ 10:46am CDT
I think what would really have been cool is if this show were to transfer the original four Sigma-17 Bots to a bigger-kid TF cartoon (not necessarily RID, but something akin to RID) so that their story can continue with the audiences who have grown up watching them, while the new recruits take over as the new main cast of Rescue Bots (though, I can't see that happening with Quickshadow unless they either somehow get rich enough to afford Alex Kingston as a permanent addition to the cast, or if they recast her with someone less expensive).o.supreme wrote:Still for kids who grew up with RB, as I've said before, they are aging out. But, with how much "family" is used as a theme in this show, and how nostalgic towards Griffin Rock at least three of the four Sigma-17 Bots are, I can't see them permanently leaving this show to fully join another one.
Posted by Flashwave on October 27th, 2016 @ 12:31pm CDT
To me, I feel like RB has knowingly set itself up for spin offs to continue for exactly the reasons given above. I want to see the characters continue. I am also quite ready to see the next level, to see the Rescue Bots become something more like rhe Bee team on a smaller scale.
To be honest, splitting the team creates too much clutter for a storyline for this type of cartoon. Having 4 different plots running is a dangerous plot device in adult tv to balance, kids dont always havr the patience tovwait for the story to come back around to their favorite Rescue Bot. Also, the fact that they pulled the core 4 back together as quickly as they split them up, then re-re-assigned their posts felt a little like the writers werent sure what to do. Blurr got a key role in the mission, but at the end ofbit they brought all four core characters back to Griffin zrock to fight the baddie less than an episode after splitting them up. What was even the point? If you needed to get the caharcters out of town, just make it an off site rescue like when they went after Charlie and the Gorillas.
So yes, I am all for a different dynamic, but I dont feel like the. Rescue Bots cartoon is the right formula.
And, S4 did a beautiful job tieing up everything, even if the Pynch ep did feel a little rushed. There's no loose threads thT I recall, and it had a touching ending. And a good lesson, about family still being family even when seperated, which is a great thing for any child whose older siblibg is off to college or divorced families. (the latter of which being about the distance between, not thw parenting dynamics, so dont read too much beyond that example)
And I still want my Generations Rescue Bots. (or failing that, toys with knees and elbows) A new Cartoon might just do that.

They aired on CN in the US on 10/22/16. So they have aired. "Official" depends on where you live. The airings of the most recent episodes of RiD were Official in Canada. I don't like using spoiler tags, but I did it for the courtesy of those who chose not to view them online ahead of the U.S. airdates.
Although this board hosts fans from all over the world, I generalize the U.S. airdate as official since we always seem to be the last to get the episodes. If you live in a country that has not yet aired the final two episodes of Rescue Bots, then you may want to avoid this thread for a while.

You're right, I forgot that one. But I wonder if that maybe wasnt a cop out to get around him being freaked out by their existance? Even still, that thread is rather well tied, having addressed Morocco's origins and putting him away as a human element. For them to go time travelling, or whatever, would be the crearion of a new plot referencing an old comment, not a continuation.

There's nothing from the previous Jules Verne episode to imply that his first meeting the Bots involved Morocco. For all we know, Verne's first meeting of the Bots could be a strictly villain-less adventure.Flashwave wrote:Sabrblade wrote:There's still the first time that Jules Verne met the Rescue Bots to be seen, as our first meeting of him was at least his second time having encountered the Bots.Flashwave wrote:And, S4 did a beautiful job tieing up everything, even if the Pynch ep did feel a little rushed. Great question...looks like Beyond Home Entertainment is releasing them in Australia (odd because Madman is releasing all other TF titles). They are all single discs, but the good news is they are in order. The bad news is that not all are available on the website:

The volumes are not numbered, but at least their contents are known so we can deduce what disk has what:
Beyond Home Entertainment have released the first two seasons on DVD in Australia:

We've received a tip from user o.supreme that the fourth season of the Transformers: Rescue Bots cartoon has been added to Netflix's ever-growing catalogue, meaning the entire show up to this point is now available to stream.
So far, however, it looks to be only added to US netflixes (netflixi?), but if you live outside America and it's been added to your account as well, please let us know in the comments!
Thanks for staying tuned to Seibertron.com!

D.C. actually mentioned the possibility of season four being the show's last back in October on his Facebook:
There are currently some small, fan-originated, campaigns to renew the series, as there might be some hope Discovery Family or Hasbro might request another season, but these attempts at the time of writing haven't collected into any large-scale pursuits, such as a petition or the like. If something like that does ever happen, however, we'll report on it here.
If this really is the end for Rescue Bots, we'd like to thank D.C. and the rest of the cast and crew for producing a great little show that got a while new generation started on our beloved franchise.

The show cracked the big 100 for the first time ever, had consistently enjoyable writing, did a lot with the characters, was always a joy to watch, and came from behind ("just a little kids' show," and a secondary line) to prove itself well worthy of being a Transformers show.
Things its cousin, Transformers Prime, was incapable of.
I salute you, Rescue Bots. You proved that a strong cartoon is achieved by good writing and characters, not by wooden characters lurching from one confusing action scene to the next.
You were the Little Transformers Show That Could. And Did.

All I can say is this...Hasbro should really try to analyze why they felt to keep this show around so long, and end others that had just as much life left in them, if not more; and use that as the determining factor in the future. In other words...toy sales alone should not determine a shows fate. I find it hard to believe that sales of RB merchandise kept this show going as it is probably the smallest portion of overall TF sales.

Maybe a sequel will introduce us?
Also, if I'm reading TFwiki right (as I've not seen the last episode yet), Optimus had everyone reassigned... except for Blurr. In light of this... Well, this is a RB thread, so any RiD can hopefully connect the dots.
