Well, this has been s format from way back. I used to go with my mom to rent beast wars vhs tapes when i was a wee one and they only contained 3-4 episodes.

Yrah, but that was back before season sets really existed as commonplace as they do now. VHS tapes couldn't as easily support as many episodes as DVD discs can.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Are they not doing season sets for this show on purpose?

S!F came through with full season Blu Rays for TF : Prime ,thankfully, but to this day, there are no full season sets of Rescue Bots which my son would love, thankfully they are not Netflix currently...

Let's face it: Optimus rolling in, transforming and flying to the rescue can make pretty much any scene worth watching over and over!

Yeah they were, I just didn't know if he thought they were actual show clips or not. Could've confused some people

But there was a conclusion. All six shorts got posted on Hasbro's website.o.supreme wrote:I missed where CN confirmed these were shorts... they appeared to me to be clips from upcoming episodes. Why would they make a short of a story about Autobots & Decepticons going after new Minicons that has no conclusion?

Fingers crossed for Crazybolt to show up in the show, I love his design!
psj333 wrote:For Season 2, are we going to see Clipshade go head-to-head with Steeljaw? It would be interesting to see these two dogs battle each other out. Consider this: German shepherd versus a wolf. Which one will likely win?
And it's good to see some things never change . Once again psj, extremely low to nochance that any characters from the IDW comics would be showing up in the cartoon. Kids don't read the comics, and kids are the target audience, so it wouldn't make sense to throw in Clipshade in the show. Besides, how would they explain his position in that universe? They would have to introduce the Cybercomrade Sect, as well as Ultra Magnus and his team!
Posted by psj333 on December 19th, 2015 @ 7:32pm CST
Also if Clipshade chose not to show up for Season 2, then so be it. But I'm quite certain that Hasbro will introduce an Autobot spy for Season 2, to say the least.
And as you pointed out earlier, you were hoping that Hasbro will bring out the Decepticon toys that many of us really hoped for. I do too. Unfortunately, at this time, they decided to hold that back. This is not to say that Decepticon characters are not popular, but they did it on purpose. Why? They needed more time to finish creating all props and accessories for fans to use. These include, coloring books, stickers, lunch boxes, watches, thermos, weapons, masks, Halloween costumes, candy despensers, and most recently, coffee mugs. Once that's done, then they will give the fans what they really want.

psj333 wrote:Madeus_Prime, that might be true. However, what you might not realize is that the last two issues of the IDW RID comics are being used as prequels to Season 2.
My guess is, guess mind you, is that it will not be referenced in the slightest. Not enough of the target audience read the comics, like I said, so why would they connect the show into it. Perhaps the comic will lead into Season 2, but Season 2 won't lead from the comic. It simply doesn't make sense to write in the IDW comics into the cartoon mythos, because no kids will have read them to have it make sense.
psj333 wrote:Also if Clipshade chose not to show up for Season 2, then so be it. But I'm quite certain that Hasbro will introduce an Autobot spy for Season 2, to say the least.
Maybe? There has been no evidence of such, but it's possible.
psj333 wrote:This is not to say that Decepticon characters are not popular, but they did it on purpose. Why? They needed more time to finish creating all props and accessories for fans to use.
Erm, no actually. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Hasbro's merchandise department and toy department are not run by the same guy. The reason no Decepticons are being made is because Hasbro thinks that kids only ever like toys of the good guys. That's the reason, not because they wanted to give its target audience:
psj333 wrote:coloring books, stickers, lunch boxes, watches, thermos, weapons, masks, Halloween costumes, candy despensers, and most recently, coffee mugs
I can safely say that almost nobody on here buys these, short of maybe the coffee mugs. Plus kids don't use about 75% of that stuff (When was the last time you saw a kid with a coloring book?).

In other words: if something happens in the cartoon, it will be canon for the comics, but if it happens in the comics, it doesn't meant the cartoon acknowledges it.

Hard to say. It's been strangely silent on that front.
As a side note: I'm not saying it won't happen, but toys don't necessarily guarantee show appearances. By that same token, Quillfire and Springload getting new toys doesn't guarantee they'll be back this season.
It would be fun to see SOME callbacks to Prime like Ratchet or Fowler.

deviating slightly, I think Quillfire and Springload are getting toys due to the one episode where they broke out, and the duo appears to have caused quite a stir. people like those crazy cons!
And toys should never indicate that character will appear. every movie and every tv show has non-show toys, and we should treat all these new cons as such until proven otherwise. never hurts to be proven otherwise anyway

I would not be surprised if season 2 started in Japan before the US however. I believe season 1 just finished in Japan, and they don't usually like to take long breaks between season like the United States does. Still however, with the supposed attempt at simulcasting these as soon as possible, old standards could be out the window. I would possibly guess season 2 will Start in March 2016, around the same time season 1 started last year, so the entire season could hopefully be shown with little to no interruption.

That actually would be kind of an interesting thought. At least it would explain why Bee never goes back to any of his old contacts on Earth or Cybertron. Also explains why Cybertron is fully up and running, enough so that the Decepticon we've seen could be new waves of Predacons.
Still, to me it would have made sense to try to contact Fowler at least once, him being their former liaison with the government and all who might be able to help with crowd control.

Someone on another board once said that, based on what's supposed to happen in Rescue Bots season 4, it would be hilarious if Crown City's populace already knew about the existence of the Transformers (with Denny and Russell at this show's beginning being the odd exception) and that the Bee Team going out of its way to hide themselves and pretend they aren't alive all this time was for nothing.Shuttershock wrote:o.supreme wrote:I doubt any humans from Prime would appear, but it would be nice as we could approximate the passage of time between the end of Prime & RID. That's actually kind of how I felt. By the end of Prime, even with all the attempts to wipe out images on the internet etc... Do you think any organization on earth (FBI, CIA whatever) could silence an entire town, even a small hick town in the middle of nowhere in Nevada, when a big ass Decepticon Fortress appeared? And yeah, not everyone in Griffin Rock I would think is going to hide their discovery from the world either, now that they know.
That is one of the reasons why I never liked TF: Cybertron. Though it was for younger audiences, and an anime. The fact that in the US version it was supposed to be the 3rd part of a Trilogy, where the TF's go back to "Robots in Disguise" after um... having whole cities of their own on Earth in Energon, and working with humans?? Also it probably didn't help that I watched Galaxy Force first where this truly was a separate series as it was intended to be.
Posted by Sabrblade on December 21st, 2015 @ 11:56am CST
The thing most people forget about Energon's whole "Cybertron Cities on Earth" and "Autobots working with humans:" thing is that all those cities were located in remote, uninhabited areas of the world far away from all populated human civilizations. And all the people who lived and worked in those cities were specifically either government personnel or their family members. There were no regular civilians who weren't affiliated with the government in that show. The Cybertron Cities and every human who worked in them were all completely cut off and isolated from the rest of the world, with the show never taking the characters into any normal human cities or civilizations outside of the Cybertron Cities.o.supreme wrote:That is one of the reasons why I never liked TF: Cybertron. Also it probably didn't help that I watched Galaxy Force first where this truly was a separate series as it was intended to be.
Ergo, it is likely that the Autobots being stationed on Earth in those cities was a big secret that the government tried to keep from the rest of humanity, as any human living in those cities never had any reason to leave since they had all the necessities of home right where they were. The only humans who came and left from the cities that we ever saw were Alexis (due to her job keeping her from staying in one place for too long) and drivers of equipment delivery trucks (whom for all they knew probably thought they were just delivering their goods to remote government bases--after all, this was the future--rather than alien settlements).
Now, the series never got around to touching upon this subject, but that's just another of its many many signs of being poorly written and poorly executed.
And, there was the whole notion of the black hole mucking up time and space that it messed up everyone's memories.
And Galaxy Force was always supposed to be another sequel from its conception. It's just that someone on the Japanese end either didn't get that memo or did and just chose to ignore it, resulting in its being more of a fresh start. Luckily, though, Takara themselves put the series back in its originally-intended place as another sequel (though placing it just one year after Super Link, as opposed to Cybertron's ten years after Energon, was ludicrous).

I hope that's not the case. That feels like the kind of pointless, self-referential in-joke that would cheapen the series and that's coming from someone who thinks the show's masquerade is ridiculous.
psj333, I think we would've gotten your point without that first link.

Of course they could be waiting until closer to the season 2 air date to put season 1 on Netflix, or for S!F to release a full season set. I hope this is the case, but in any event, it just requires at minimum another month of waiting.

also
from the end of the last episode......it looks like we could be seeing more of Prime in season 2
wish they would introduce a new basebot or citybot! then they could be stationed in it instead of a scrapyard & the remains of their spaceship!
also would love to see more of Primus! seeing as he created Windblade.

Sabrblade wrote:You know, guys, if season 2 really were to be the final season, wouldn't we at least be hearing some kind of rumors for the next cartoon to come after RID? Or would the fifth movie be what's next instead?
I seriously doubt that. News broke that TF Prime’s 3rd season would be its final was made known in fall 2012. News of the next TF animated series did not break until the Hasbro investors meeting in the fall of 2013 (which they initially had on their calendar for fall 2014, just as a placeholder with no name or details), but the first details weren’t released until summer 2014, and wasn’t actually aired until spring 2015.
I’m thinking Season 2 (whether the reported 19 episodes, or by some miracle 26) will follow the pattern similar to last year airing between March-September 2016. Although this is CN we are talking about, and they may pull the plug after only a few episodes, and put it on late nights or some insane thing (anyone who was a fan of Beware the Batman known what I’m talking about). I still have zero faith in CN, which is why I watched all of RiD15 S1 online (from those that uploaded the Australian iTunes releases months ahead of CN airdates). They have shown to be inept to the Nth degree in scheduling, and have killed so many great action cartoons in the last 4 years. Until CN shows me a changing trend, and full support of a well written action/sci-fi based cartoon that is not driven by toy sales, I will continue to have no faith in them.
JoeMabbon wrote:Someone on the staff at tfw2005 claims that Akiva Goldsman revealed in an interview that the next cartoon will come from the writer's room and be a Cybertron-based prequel to the live-action films set for a 2017/2018 release. Now the interview was removed and then edited with that part taken out. So, either Goldsman told us something he shouldn't have, misspoke and was actually talking about the prequel movie, or the tfw2005 journalist is wrong.
I *believe* the Bayverse prequel was referenced to be an animated film as opposed to a full on series. But I may be wrong.
In any event, if Hasbro follows its pattern of recent years, RiD will have its 2nd season be its end. 2017 will focus all on the TF5 film, and TF5 toys (and possibly a continuation of generations whatever would be post Titan Wars), then the next animated series would be in development for 2018.
Again that is *if* Habro follows its Mantra of wanting Transformers to be an always evolving toy brand. I for one hope this doesn’t happen. I may not be a marketing expert, but from my childhood, to this day, what I really liked was consistency. Although I probably watched 20+ shows based on toy lines, I only collected 2 brands of toys (MOTU & Transformers), both toy lines had a 7-8 year run. The MOTU show lasted 2 seasons and made 130 episodes, but re-runs ran in syndication and on cable for almost 10 years. Transformers, as we all know had 98 episodes and one feature film over 4 seasons, but again re-runs continued to air in syndication and on cable for nearly a decade.
Now RiD15 is far from my favorite of the many incarnations of Transformers but… I would love to see it, or any future series go some distance (I’m talking 5 years or more, and 100+ episodes). The idea that the target audience has become *bored* after two years, and the need to keep reintroducing it seems ludicrous to me.
Now I know at least one of you is probably going to mention Rescue Bots, which is interesting. If its 4th season gets 26 episodes, it will have the unique distinction of becoming the new title holder of longest running TF series, beating out The Original by 6 episodes. So… why is it Hasbro feels the need to rebrand its primary line every 2-3 years, yet keep its small child line still going? Surely the kids that watched when they were 4, are now probably 8 and have moved on to RiD, or to other non-transformers related things. Again I wish I could have someone from Hasbro's marketing team explain it to me, but those folks are pretty much inaccessible, and probably for good reason.

But I'm hoping to see Steeljaw sometime release all the Decepticons from the scrapyard prison so that he will form his own army to get revenge on the Autobots to prove just how tyrannical he really is.
But can we really say Steeljaw is tyrannical? I mean, he more appears to be a revolutionary who wants a place to live, not really destroy, rebuild, conquer, crush like Megs wanted to do to Earth. Steeljaw just seems to want to live free of persecution

We'll soon find out when issue 6 arrive. But for now, to prove whether or not Steeljaw is tyrannical, you have to look it like this. His goal is to gather as many Decepticons as he can possibly could so that he can create unstoppable army so that he can take over Megatron's place. If anyone gets in his way, he'll go right through them! Don't forget, he already recruited 3 Vehicons on his side to start with, which lead us to believe that in season 2, they would appear and release all the Decepticons at that moment, before he finally gets what he wanted. The only question is: Do you think is that simple? Don't forget in this series, Bumblebee is not a soldier but a cop. And cops won't be intimidated by anybody, not even Steeljaw. It's like, "No matter what you say or what you do, we will not back down!" Is that to say that Bumblebee is a lot like Rodimus Prime, that is proud and arrogant? You decide.
He has kidnapped bots before, in the actual cartoon series. But he uses them as means to an end. He even stated to Megatronus that he just wanted a place for cons to live in peace. And as the person who won that freedom, he would rule. He really isn't being tyrannical. And he wants as many cons as possible cause he is making a home for them. He wants them to be free.
And Bee is a cop, but he was a soldier first, and he is mixing the 2 to find and stop these cons. He is not arrogant either, and he is trying to finish his mission. And given his history, he would not back down from anyone.
Also: steeljaw has tricked the vehicons, not recruited them. And the comics are only based on the cartoon, they are not making continuity for the cartoon. We've discussed this before. so while this is the comics picking up after season 2, the cartoon as yet to do so in a different way.
Steeljaw has come across as a revolutionary who wants a home. To me for him to be tyrannical, he should've killed some people by now, he should be trying to get back to cybertron but he doesnt want to! He just wants a new home free of cybertron and the bots. He is no where near what Megatron was

That said, I think Steeljaw outright said that he planned for Decepticons to rule the planet, rather than coexist with humanity at the end of the hostage episode. He's no Megatron. Megatron had power and resources at his disposal.
Indeed. You need to BE in charge before you start abusing your people and position.

And also, for those who think that only new characters will be introduced in season 2, you have to look at it like this:
Every show and every game no matter what, must introduce new characters and allowing the previous characters to return. That is how the show is setup. It's not like they going to allow only new characters in the show and leave all the previous characters out. That's not the way it works. So, I believe that there is chance that existing Decepticons will return for season 2, especially those who have not show there alt-mode yet. For example, Filch is a crow that can transform into a human, but her face was not shown. Other Decepticons, like Malador, whose alt-mode is mostly likely a muscle car, due to how his robot mode is designed, Nightstrike, and Pseudo, have still yet to show their true alt-modes. So from my perspective, I do believe that if they choose to return for season 2, perhaps we can get a better idea of what their alt-modes will be like to further the storyline. There is no way that these existing characters will be neglected and locked up for life. Steeljaw will definitely release them, but the time is still unknown.

Hm. I'd hope this isn't an insertion to make the book's plot more interesting. It would be a good plot twist to have Liege in there, especially if this whole thing is one big master plan.

Happy New Year! - It's 2016! (for those who live in Australia and New Zealand) - Here's what you can expect in 2016 that's TF Related:
2nd and Final Season of Transformers: Robots In Disguise
This year also marks the final season for Transformers Robots In Disguise - It comes from earlier on in 2015 that Hasbro has decided to cut short the Show's episodes resulting in the complete loss of Season 3 and the loss of Half of Season 2 - Regardless of that - We can confirm that it's believed the main villain for Season 2 will be "Liege Maximo" - Another "Evil" Prime who has the intentions of turning Bumblebee and Optimus Prime against each other - It's also been heavily rumoured that Prowl, Ultra Magnus, Bulkhead, Ratchet, Arcee and Jazz will feature heavily in Season 2 - Along with the slim possibility (Take it as a grain of salt) of Megatron, Shockwave and Starscream also possibly returning - As far as we know Megatronus Prime has no more appearances in the series (As far as we know) - We can also confirm there's going to be a lot more Minicons in Season 2 and they'll factor heavily into what will eventually happen - Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in February this year
