Actually it said on the show that this isn't Megatron upgraded! but one of the Primes gone rogue(a bit like The Fallen did...in ROTF)
nice figure...but I'll wait for the Warrior Class version

Dissapointed if this is the best toy he has. Looks rather terrible. We need a proper Leader not these 1/3/5-step changers.

Technically it is The Fallen. Megatronus Prime is what the Fallen was called before he turned

Dunno? All I know is that he's a large 5 step.
If I had to guess...probably Leader Class or maybe bigger.
knowing me...he may turn out to be Voyager sized
as cool as Megatronus looks...I'm still sold on the more detailed or at least better transformation Warrior Class(I'm sure they'll be one eventually) but that 5 Step just looks as if it kinda partly folds over on itself & lays down(tank mode)

This year's botcon reveals outside of the CW line has been way below par.
You can thank BotCon being so close to SDCC these days for that. When they hold Botcon in early spring (April) or later summer (September) we seem to get more out of it. The last three BotCon's have been just a couple weeks before SDCC (July 8-12) which means Hasbro has to spread stuff out more between the two cons. April is really the best time for BotCon since it's far enough from Toy Fair in February and SDCC to show some good stuff, though September is also nice since it fills the long void from SDCC to Toy Fair (since they don't show very much at NYCC).
I'm guessing that at SDCC we'll be seeing the Titan Wars stuff they teased us with at BotCon. Who knows, maybe they'll even have something to say about MP Optimus Primal since that's such an American Transformers character.

Yeah, but they also own the fiction. Unless you're seriously going to say that a one-paragraph-bio that was most likely written in error takes priority in canon over their own media. That's backwards as hell.
Like, who do you think is more important? A copy-writer who barely knows what they're doing, or the writers and designers who created the character specifically to be a different character?

In the BH movie, Megatron(us) was rebuilt by Unicron, and at the end of the show, he pretty much just gave up, saying he'd 'experienced being dominated and wanted nothing to do with it anymore'. Then he just flew off into space, effectively abandoning the Decepticons.
So what has he been doing all that time? Will these episodes answer that? Did he just fly around the galaxy, 'thinking about what he'd done', like a child being told by his parents to sit in the corner?
And now that he's had a good long think - what? He's come back to start dominating again? Thinking about how bad dominating people is made him realize that he just wasn't doing it right or something? They're going to need some pretty big plugs to stop up all those plot holes they left after ending the Prime series. They never really said what happened to Starscream, or Shockwave, or Predaking, or the Predacons. And now suddenly Megatron(us) has flip-flopped yet again on his feelings about whether or not it's good to be 'dominating' others?
Save us, not from Decepticons, but from sloppy writing.
Well at the least, I hope they throw in some scenes where the other Decepticons tell Megatron(us) to take a hike. After all, he abandoned them and ditched them in a time of great need and left them to be 'dominated' by the Autobots. Steeljaw should be given a bang-up speech where he lets Megatron(us) have it for abandoning them in their hour of greatest need. Some 'leader' he turned out to be in this mythos. That is, if he even IS the same Megatron(us) from those Prime episodes. The text blurb seemed to indicate that it is, but who knows....

In the Aligned continuity, The Fallen is one of the Thirteen, who turned against them for various reasons, akin to Lucifer of Christian religion. His original name was Megatronus Prime, which is where Megatron got his name from.

The Pokedex style thing! where he searches for Transformers as it flickers through hundreds of silouetted figures until he finds the one the team have came across. Well pity this feature isn't an app for Android or iPhone, as it would be pretty neat, & it would come with all the sound fx & music(used during those computer search scenes). I know the Android videogame has something like it....when you scan those symbols on the toys, but I would still like to see a sort of Transformersdex(like the pokemon one) app on Google Market
I know you mentioned the app, but have you played it? because its pretty much exactly that. With that app already existing with pretty much exactly what you are asking for, I think Hasbro feels they already have that and wont make more than that.
Maxine Prime wrote:Do we know how large that Megatronus is? He looks like he might make a nice opponent for that GINORMOUS Optimus Takara is making.
While the size seems appropriate, he looks really subpar in terms of articulation. That amazing Optimus is a fully articulated Leader toy. This one is much simpler (his legs dont even transform and he has nothing going on in his forearms for articulation). The app had said he was Ultra Class which is similar to Leader Class toys (though a little smaller).

I agree that the RID showings were very lackluster. We didnt even see the Warrior Thunderhoof (the main toy fans are looking forward to seeing).
And Emerje, is there a precedent for Hasbro covering a Takara release at a show before? Because I dont think there has ever been a year where both Hasbro and Taara released the same MP simultaneously though I may be wrong. Also, Optimus Primal is just as important in Japan as he is in the US. The Optimus Prime character himself was first introduced in the US and they are both as much American Transformer Characters, so I dont know why Primal is any different.
BB Shockwave wrote:Dissapointed if this is the best toy he has. Looks rather terrible. We need a proper Leader not these 1/3/5-step changers.
I agree but Takara showed us that if they dont have the appropriate Leader toy they want, they will make one themselves outside of Hasbro. They did it for Optimus, they can do it for Megatronus too.

Save for two episodes in season two, the storytelling in Prime improved over the course of the series. If you found it in the very least disjointed or confusing, you either missed episodes, haven't been paying attention, or are trying desperately to connect continuity to the games and novels.
P.S: TV Movie*

or Predaking, or the Predacons.
They live peacefully alongside the Autobots like Bumblebee said they wanted 15 minutes into the damned film.
And now suddenly Megatron(us) has flip-flopped yet again on his feelings about whether or not it's good to be 'dominating' others?
No. Megatronus is The Fallen, as in, the Prime. Megatron is still out in space somewhere.
Save us, not from Decepticons, but from sloppy writing.
It's a badly written bio for a toy, or have you not read any of the posts above you that were disclaiming this information as correct? This is probably how you missed half of Prime's story, too.

Who knows? Everyone who watched "Battlegrounds" knows. Megatronus is a Prime that's gone rogue. He's the Fallen. Megatron is the Cybertronian warlord that took his namesake. There's a bit of dialogue in the episode that tells us this:
Drift: "Fixit, is this Megatronus also known by the name Megatron?"
*Fixit searches Megatronus on the Cyber-Wikipedia or whatever*
Fixit: "No. Megatron named himself after Megatronus. Megatronus was one of the original Primes, but he turned on his brethren, destroying Solus Prime."
If I spoiled the finale for you or anyone...oops.

Starscream was never outright killed or said to have died. Nor have the predacons been mentioned since the TV movie, so we know nothing about what happened to the Preds or Screamer. Same with Shockwave: we have no idea what happened.
but there is a chance we will find out if RiD is renewed for a season 2 or 3. It has been mentioned that other Prime characters will appear in a second season. This could explain what happened to all the other autobots from prime was well as Wave, Screamers, megs and the preds fates after the Predacons rising movie. We'll have to see. Nothing is set in stone yet.

D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Starscream was never outright killed or said to have died.
Actually, (one/some of) the writers were asked what happened to Starscream, and they themselves said he was killed by the Predacons. Nothing on-screen has been mentioned, however, so they could undo this if they wanted to, but that was writers intent there.
Nor have the predacons been mentioned since the TV movie
True, but the whole goal of the Autobots and Predacons working together was so that they could peacefully coexist on Cybertron. You could logically conclude that's what became of them. The Predacons are probably just living like normal people.
Same with Shockwave: we have no idea what happened.
I believe the writers addressed Shockwave's fate as well, but I don't remember what they said about it exactly. I think they made a joke of it, if memory serves me right. The only thing I can remember from that is they said they meant for Shockwave to die in the Terrorcon Predacon scene but Hasbro executives gave them hell for it. Don't quote me on it, though, I'm going off of hazy memory about what was said for Shockwave.

Exactly, I'm hoping this is no different. Back in 2003 Takara showed off an unpainted prototype of MP-01 at some event. A little over a week later at OTFCC (to a very caught off guard audience's surprise) Hasbro revealed a painted version of 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime at the end of their panel. They ended up being released very closely that winter with Takara's coming in December 2003 and Hasbro's showing up around February 2004. I wouldn't expect Optimus Primal to be released so closely together, but if he's at SDCC I won't be surprised.

With a much better paint job and clearer instructions, Takara's take on the One-Step figures are really good. it's a tough choice between the Adventure version and Hasbro's Night-Ops version of Bumblebee since both decos are fantastic. Ninja Sideswipe looks good but the "Butterfly" transforming style is getting a bit old at this point.

Also included in the pictures is a pretty cool feature we are finally getting a look at: the energon bonus figures.
Ever since Toy Fair 2015, it was revealed that the clear accessories could be combined to form two figures and we now have our first look at them. It is only two accessories from each figure though, so the resulting "energon minicons" are quite small. The accessories from the first wave of decepticon and autobot minicons give a lion while the second wave gives a shark. Which do you prefer? And does this excite you more to get them? It is also a nice confirmation that one does not need to buy the Deployer figure to obtain the pieces to build these figures since that accompanying minicon does not figure in the combination.
