Thanks to a tip off from fellow Seibertron user, D-Maximal_Primal, we've learned of a new reveal for the Transformers Studio Series 86 line: Core Class Exo Suit Spike!

The reveal was made by Twitter user, Sixo, and it is unknown at the moment where they discovered it.
The toy depicts Spike in the Exo Suit that he wore in the 1986 Movie (and the same design as the one given to his son, Daniel). While there has been numerous attempts at the exo Suit in toy form, such as the one that was part of the Buzzworthy Bumblebee line, and the static one that came with last year's Studio Series 86 Leader Class Slug.
What do you think of this?
Will you be getting Spike? Or any other Studio Series Core Class?

I have a feeling he won't be

Think that would have upped the plastic and parts count considerably, putting him firmly into the Deluxe price point
RiddlerJ wrote:Where's the back wheels?
They're either mis-transformed or non existent

Ohhh that looks rough. A separate Witwicky was not an announcement I would ever had expected for the SS line to be fair. Movie or Bayformers.

In the movie, Spike was just a little shorter than Bumblebee when wearing the exosuit.ZeroWolf wrote:TulioDude wrote:But will he be in scale with the other Studio Series toys?

Which reminds me of this:

The mini vehicles scaling in the show was weird.

Clearly they've been sneaking into Wheeljack's lab closet.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Sabrblade wrote:In the movie, Spike was just a little shorter than Bumblebee when wearing the exosuit.

True. But in all fairness, the cartoon was the only one to use the accurate city-sized scale of Fortress Maximus and Scorponok (carried over into the Takara series).

Or at the very least when it comes to SS Core Class. Shockwave comes to mind here.

Doubtful...
That's roughly Titan Master scale, so if that's what you want, I hope you have the headmaster Arcee toy. I'll probably use the one from the Buzzworthy Bumblebee two-pack in any scenes with the full, larger cast, but it might depend on how I feel when I have the new one in-hand.
It's weird how we didn't have exosuit Daniel* for decades, now there's like a half dozen, including three in the last twelve months or so.
*Edit: I'm considering Spike and Daniel as effectively interchangeable in the case of the BB two-pack, I happen to have two of them, though I'll probably unload one.

Core is not a size scale, but (arguably) a size class. Even Kingdom had a mix of smaller figures and those at a nonstandard scale.

We should be thankful in that case, the SS line won't carry over into the shows post-Movie seasons. Scaling for Headmaster Arcee would be problematic...

I had the same thought, but I'm pretty sure the rumors say we'll get both, so it's an academic point until we start seeing the official reveals.
The big SS86 Core class question I have is about Rumble. Rumors and conventional wisdom say we're getting a Netflix Soundwave reissue or redeco and Legacy, with a reissued or updated Rumble to follow. I thought that was nuts, because Core class isn't a scale but a size, and Micromasters are less than half as big as a standard Core figure. Then we got BB SS Ravage who is very small for a Core but to scale with BB SS Soundwave. If the conventional wisdom is right, we could have a human character and a cassette on the same peg at the same time, and the human would be twice as tall. That's wild, but like I said, it's a class and not a scale.

So in a nutshell, outside of figures that are meant to interact with larger ones, Core Class should not be used for scale purposes.
