In this guy's defense, the pattern may be just for the STITCHING. As in, what color to put where. Cross-stitching is a lot more complicated then it looks, so the template may actually be necessary. People often sell stitching templates for flat, two-dimensional surfaces; I imagine even if the SHAPE is based off a paperformer, the pattern would be necessary regardless.

Yeah, I've worked w/ Plastic Canvas myself. But the fact remains that this guy didn't do the "engineering" for this, isn't crediting the original author for it, and is charging people $20 for a virtual commodity based heavily on someone else's work.

looking through the projects list he does say "any resemblance to other 3d models or other copyrighted materials is consequential, and not in breech of any legal stance" Copyright mark 2010. The directions do list this as a space jet transformer colored. His stitch guide shows various parts of starscream down in similar styles to jetfire(1999) however this are down in flat panel sheets not folding paper.
I will post some images of this project if i ever start to work on it

Currant investment
total 40$ (build guide, and parts)
2 hours
I worked on one piece and found I did not care for it that much so now I am working on a piece twice the size of it using a sightly modified stitch.
If it does not satisfy me i will try 3 times the guides directions
I have never done this before so we will see how it works out
