Getting G2 Optimus, the Constructicons, and some other random bots...It was kind of the same, but not quite... Also frantically recording every episode of the Transformers on Sci-Fi cartoon quest. Fortunately they ran 2 episodes a day, so if I missed one because my VCR messed up, is wasn't long before that one would come around again. But also knowing the episode well enough to see that edits were made for time. But those VHS copies would suffice for another 8 years until DVDs from Rhino would start being released in 2001.

I always really liked green so when it came to getting yellow Constructicons, yeah, I feel this. Didn't have the originals growing up so these were very cool and very much played with, thoroughly, but agreed that there was still a little something missing.o.supreme wrote:: Getting G2 Optimus, the Constructicons, and some other random bots...It was kind of the same, but not quite...

Luckily I had the original green Constructicons, so I too focused on the G2s of toys I didn't have. Never had the original Optimus (just Powermaster) or any Diaclone Car- or Jet-Robo molds, so I got those G2 launch toys (except Starscream somehow, but I had the Classic Pretender) and Slag, then Seaspray and Hubcap.ScottyP wrote:I always really liked green so when it came to getting yellow Constructicons, yeah, I feel this. Had the Original Aerialbots, but not the Comabaticons. Always thought of their G2 colors as their Cybertronian forms, since that was the story I was playing out, with all the new characters' toys being back on Cybertron, duking it out like in Marvel continuity. At some point during that formative generation, the ongoing storyline I'd been playing out with my toys in my head ended, but I never stopped collecting.

That G2 Prime was the first one that I remember being readily available! Plus he had great Lights and Sounds! How great is G2--- I mean the perfect mix of features for a toy line are electronics and water guns righht!

Water and stickers don't mix well either, and yet the Color-Change-Formers had as many decals as the next comparable size TFs. I remember stickering-up Jetstorm, then immediately disintegrating a few of of the decals I'd just applied, teaching me to never use any water squirting gimmick incorporated into an action figure, ever again. Well, the Dilophosarus I got earlier that same summer remained an exception for a bit; I trust they didn't incorporate that into Dilophocon? I need to watch that review.
And hey, it wasn't just stickers: Inferno's water cannon featured ladder-destroying-action if you actually attached it as intended!

You have to love when a franchise introduces a self destruction feature- reminds me of the first Magic the Gathering Unglued set- I still have a pile of "Chaos Confetti" cards- where you tear up the card into tiny pieces, throw it up in the air and all cards in the playing field that the "confetti" lands in are removed from play.
