From the teaser, it is confirmed that this figure will be a five-member Gestalt. However, it is not clear who the combiner is paying homage to, or if it is paying homage to a combiner at all. Two of the members revealed are repaints/remolds of their products Munitioner and Explorer. They are renamed Warcry and Flameblast, respectively. Flameblast looks to have a brand new head. Check the teaser below!

FansProject begins a new story. Mark me down for the boxset if its under 150. One thing though; insignias... these need original branding. Brand new story, brand new universe. No more Optimus vs Megatron, finally!
Kinda jumped the gun on thinking they'll quit the homage figs, then I notice the subtitle "crossfire SIDE STORY"...

"Warcry" looks an awful lot like Leyland to me and "Flameblast" bears more than a passing resemblance to Shuttle Gunner.
Just a thought mind you....

I would sell these as Basic class figures to keep costs down (around the $20 mark) then sell an add on (connection joints with super articulation) to mix and match scramble city combiners style. Your collection will never get old no matter how long the Causailty line lasts! I digress into pure speculation - but throwing ideas out there to the "For Fans By Fans" toy company...

I'm glad I waited, Warcry and Flameblast look way better than their predecessors... even though they were pretty awesome too.

Yes, it looks to be based off them;

Warcry = Micromaster Growl
Flameblast = Micromaster Fireshot or Vanquish or Tracer (not sure on which he reminds me off)

From the teaser, it is confirmed that this figure will be a 5-member team combiner. However, it is not clear who this combiner paying homage to. 2 of the members revealed are basically the repaint version of Munitioner and Explorer.

AGREED.

unless...random wild guess here...BW Predacons homages? Warcry has a bit of Terrorsaur and Inferno in his coloration. 3 and 4 could be Scorponok and Waspinator. The other 2 have me kind of stumped there of course, but it makes as much sense to me as anything.

Exactly what I thought, the names are pointing to them too.
04 looks like it could be a Bombshell homage.

Maybe I'll change my mind when they reveal their blacked out figures. I have no idea what they might be. Insecticons would be nice, but wouldn't fit the theme.

What theme? They're new characters.

The Insecticons are bugs. Or, at the very least, purple, black, and yellow.
The theme here is still vehicles. And, possibly, obscure TFs. Personally, I find this set a little *too* obscure for my tastes.

You guys are right. I don't know my Micromasters (bar a couple), but for the Swindle repaint, the colour scheme and name is clearly referencing Growl - even the new weapons match his.
And Fireshot is probably correct too. Definitely looks like (a great improvement to) his headsculpt. Strange that they gave a Decepticon blue eyes though, but it probably looks better than red eyes on a pink face from an aesthetic viewpoint.
If they were original characters I may have passed them up, but I'm more interested now that they have pre-existing characters.
What will the other three be though? I don't recall any insectoid Micromasters, so perhaps the Micromaster theme will not apply at all 5 figures?

I'm not convinced from the silhouettes, mainly that Bombshell-ish looking one. But I suppose it could just be two limbs (CA-03 & CA-05). Let me know if you have a better theory Mr Blurrz.

And causality is a word. The Merovigian in the Matrix spoke of Cause and Effect and used the word "causality" often.

True, but here we have what appears to be an easily overlooked typo. The banner readys "causaILty", not "causaLIty"

I'm all for Growl and Fireshot though, since the Battle Squad and Military Patrol were among my favorite Micromasters in the dying days of G1, the latter because I never had the combaticons, and they essentially were the Micromaster Combaticons minus Blast Off and any way to combine.
Looking forward to the reveal. This has me optimistic that some 3rd party company will make Deathcobra and save me the trouble of kitbashing one out of those LioKaiser and Duocon KO box sets.

Of course, it makes sense that FansProject would release repaints/remolds of figures they've already spent. What makes less sense is that they'd create three brand new figures to go with them. This is probably just wishful thinking on my part, but I can see the rest of the Combaticons in CA-03 to -05. 03 I think could be Brawl, 04 a new Onslaught, and 05 Vortex. I'm not saying that these will be them. Just that I can see the repaints in the future.
On another note, as anyone heard anymore about Collector? Has it been shelved with the reveal of Generations Wreck-Gar?
Posted by WarGraver on December 6th, 2010 @ 8:32am CST
Then again, I don't know what story they gave out with the Crossfire releases, so maybe it makes more sense than I think.
In any case, I appreciate any attempt to start building a single storyverse for their new characters.

According to someone with insider info on TFW they're not combiners.

More specifically, that someone being Venksta (also of Seibertron.com and the guy behind Renderform) who has worked with the FansProject guys. So yeah, that makes it practically official that the figures in silhouette are not combiners.

I do hope some day that the original molds are repainted as RID Rollbar and Mo-Vor.
I'd love to see some Scout size cars from these guys at some point like Lightspeed, Streetwise, Stake Out or any Stunticon. Someday I hope to at least pick up Munitioner.
If tehy're going to release more obscure characters, please let them be Actionmasters. I'd love Scout size transformable versions of Kick Off, Axer and Slicer.
BTW, Ca-03 seems to have a cat like head in it's torso. i'm thinking Razorclaw or Rampage though one could lead to the other eventually.

Since this is a Crossfire "Side Story, and speculated to not be a combiner, does that mean that we still have hope for a Crossfire 03 Devastator? I hope so. I also hope to see Broadside teasers soon too.

All the crossfire sets have dealt with combiners. Munitioner and Explorers' intsruction book showed a new crossfire combiner.... Why would this not be it? I know Fansproject is planning that complete made up set the Glacial bots, and maybe that's crossfire 03 who knows besides Fansproject????
The Crossfire series wasn't made to be all combiners. Specifically, its purpose was to release projects made by other designers, while Parallax is for their main designer. As the new teaser image for Causality says, this is a new series, and does not end the original Crossfire series. Its just a spinoff. I would say, Causality is for stand alone figures now, and the main Crossfire series is for combiner related figures and such.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Man I hope those are Insecticons!
