And look what that gave us toy wise. It's time to move on, this design is phenomenal and this line is definitely something I am picking up instantaneously.

Hasbro can't be re-doing Generation One every 4 years. This is as good as it gets, and let's be thankful we're even getting toys for a video game...

Looks like I've got yet another Prime to add to my ridiculously large Prime collection.

Why should we be 'thankful'?

Probably because Hasbro didn't have to bring this line back to us.
Really liking this Prime can't wait till he hits stores. I really hope Takara releases their versions of the Generations line right around the same time Hasbro does don't want to wait two years like they did with the classics line.

Anyhow, the alt mode isn't as cool as I thought it would be, but it's still one of the figs I'm really looking forward to.

WWI isn't G1 designs.

Yeah, that's true, but Hasbro is a toy company that is making toys. We don't really have to be thankful for anything. Before I get blasted for saying that, I understand what you mean Blurrz, and I understand the whole buisness, but you all do know that we don't really need to thank HAsbro for anything, right?
I'm not Hasbro-bashing. I'm just saying that Hasbro needs us to purchase their wares more than we need to purchase their wares. I'm talking need here, not 'need' as in 'we need the "plastic crack..."' ok?
Hasbro isn''t the Grand Inquisitor, we don't need to be thankful for anything they 'give' us, becuase they don't give us anything, we exchange our money for their product.
Ok, Ok, sorry for that, just wanted to say. It seems like we've been getting hounded somewhat for not vapidly applauding things around here, to me at least.
That being said, I like the way this toy looks, but I also agree with Mr. Optimus Prime...it seems like it's lacking character to me. I liked the WWI designs, and this line seems like as much of a WWI line as we're going to get, and I'm ok with that, but this doesn't look like it has whatever WWI Prime had that appealed to me. Note that I said "me," as I'm only speaking for me, and I don't know what it was about WWI Prime, but it had something.
To Mr. Optimus Prime: maybe it's that this isn't "new", since we have the WWI designs? I don't know, just a thought.

Classics wasn't either. They are all modern representations of Generation One characters. Regardless, this video game is now, Dreamwave and WWI is defunct, and the end result is we're once again getting good figures that aren't part of a movie or cartoon toyline.
I agree on how these are a bit.. how do I say, let's say they're a bit 'buff'. But what can we expect? This is basically pre-Generation One, no streamlining, no earth friendly looking vehicles or robots. This is the raw, what I'd expect from an alien race.

i look at it this way if prime isnt bigger than deluxe that gives me hope of a properly scaled omega or even trypticon which would be great even if not this could potentially be one of the first lines in a while that i buy completely great job hasbro

Well, as much as I personally have liked the ROTF line, NO! I'm ready to move on.

this fig along with the whole line for this game is:
new
fresh
and cool
WHAT IS MR. OPTIMUS PRIME'S BEEF!!!?????
dude, you're not gonna get War Within Prime or whatever the heck you wanted.
if you don't like it then have a drink by yourself.
personally, this is an awesome take on an already iconic hero.
i've always wanted to have a pre-earth prime, a cybertronian prime, a completely different design "prime".
this does that and more.
with the game coming out we get to see cybertron for what it is/was. and from the sound of it we're also getting one kick as story to boot.
ya, ok the alt mode seems a little weak but what did you want? a truck!? It's freakin Cybertron, there's no such thing as an earth moded truck up there.
again, if you don't like it just
you're never gonna get what you're asking for.
The bot mode is awesome and based on the points of articulation....i can almost assume you can get some wicked poses from it.
can't wait to see the rest of the line

Not really, the closest thing to WWI prime is WWI Prime and we've already gotten him, and yes he is about deluxe class (6 inches):
And we've gotten him twice now.

Heh, well said Mkall (note the lower case "k")
I love this figure! He looks great in both modes! I was very impressed with his transformation sequence, it looked very intricate, So much so that i would consider purchasing an upsized knockoff of it! HINT HINT KOToys!
Even the freaking gun was impressive!! he flicked it and it was already in the robot-mode-weapon-mode! Thats Balls F**king Deep!
This figure looks incredible, I can't say that enough!
Epic Win

Bumblebee and is a definite maybe....
Nothing else I have seen YET has persuaded me to get either this figure or the Megatron we have all seen earlier.

I have to disagree with you, I find this incarnation of OP rather nice, his angles, shapes and lines come together almost organically. After seeing the WWI (isn't within one word?) OP from an earlier poster, while I liked it in the comics, I must say I hated it by comparison. I feel if you switched the Primes, they would both look out of place. WWI had a nice form but he seems a bit scrawny for a war hero on the frontlines, where is all the armor? WFC has the bulk and it looks good. In my opinion.
Posted by kirbenvost on April 8th, 2010 @ 10:07am CDT
Now on to the details. Overall, he looks great. I'm liking the sculpt. Lots of details, and shaped a little differently than we're used to. It's nice to see something relatively new (yes, ROTF was VERY different).
I also really love the colors, and the quality of the plastic seems good. I dunno if it's just me, but he seemed a lot more sturdy than some of the recent toys. It also seems Hasbro finally realized that pale-almost-white silver plastic is really crappy looking and added some more silver to the mix. The blue is a nice dark shade, and the red even seems to have a metallic and high-gloss look to it. It looks good and high-quality. And I don't mind the pink/neon red at all. I think it looks pretty good, it's something different, and it's a good representation of what's seen in the game.
That transforming gun is absolutely badass. And I love weapon storage, especially if it's functional.
The vehicle mode, while not all that exciting, still looks like a great representation of what Prime's alt mode should be... a big, honking truck. And this time it looks like he could do some serious ramming damage. And it's kind of streamlined at the same time. Even has the iconic smokestacks. Too bad they don't move to his shoulders for bot mode, but I other parts sort of fill that gap.
I guess the only real flaw I could really pick up from this video were that big kibble piece on the back. It makes him look kind of dumpy from the front. He's got a great muscular build, but the back kibble is much wider than the waist, so it ends up not looking as good. Maybe there's a slightly better way to adjust it. Also I'm still not liking the shoulders, they look kind of droopy somehow, but that's pretty minor.
You can tell how excited I am by that big block of text.
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to Bumblebee, possibly Megatron, and any other future figures we're lucky enough to see from this line.

I'd much rather have the time/budget for this line devoted to Generations so they can get more than flippin' deluxes, thank you very much.
I have no emotional investment in this line. I don't really play video games beyond my old NES, so there's nothing there either. There is nothing to draw me in.

They didnt have to make toys from this line anyway. Hasbro didnt even have to continue classics after the first year (2006-2007) They even said because of the enormous popularity, they would be continuing it. Its got 2 other continuations. And Mr optimus prime, if you want WWI toys, go out and buy the Titaniums, and then tell us what you think.
And again, no. We don't have to be thankful for these figures. I won't be buying them, or the game. They mean nothing to me and to others.

I love Cons, it's what I prefer to collect, but from the little we have seen of Megs, yuech!! I'm hoping we get better pics soon. But so far, I'm only sold on Optimus. BB, I'm just kind of on the fence about. But I'm sure that if I'm walking by the TF isle and see at WFC BB, and I got some change in my pocket, he'll most likely be bought just cause he AIN'T a bay-former!
