The CGI version looks like some sort of "mechanical baby dragon"--all metal, with a pair of "turbo-fans" built into the shoulders [don't remember what you call them--basically fans encased in a shallow cylinder like Transmetal Megatron's T-Rex mode], and metallic feather-like wings, and a tail. No arms or legs, as far as I can tell.
The toy's black head and red wings are NOT screen-accurate.

Yeah, well, when have Hasbro been fussed about colour? Blue Jetfire, blue Megatrons, yellow Rampage...

True.
What I'm most concerned about is the toy itself. While I can always repaint the whole thing in screen-accurate silver, or dry-brush it for a more realistic look, there's little I can do if the toy itself sucks.

if you pictures its wings inside of the fans, and its feet somehow molded into a track

Good call. In the new picture it almost looks like there's a cockpit detail. Who knows though. I still remember when pics came out of Ravage's chicken alt-mode and that was way off

I know that they both look like bald eagles but still.
I can't believe I actually mixed up vultures with bald eagles. >.>

By the way, I LIKED Movie Ravage's figure, but I'm using him based on his Beast Wars incarnation.

As for the alt mode, and I'm not even sure if it's a proper alt mode...not so much.

The headsculpt is not what LB should look like, in either mode. To me that figure should look like his name sounds. Fast and lethal. If that makes sense.
IDK.....if i see him for a couple bucks on clearance then i might get him.
He has a charm about him though. I do like monstrous TF's so he could win me over.

HA! that's exactly what he looks like! Good call. He's borderline ridiculous. They should have named him Cutthroat instead of Lazerbeak because that's who he looks more like. IMO

This guy is actually growing on me. Although there isn't much transformation involved, though I like the extending neck and tail gimmickry. I'll have to see it in hand before making the choice...

I have Scorponok & his repaint in movie monster mode hanging with my Godzilla stuff.
This will fit right in with those guys.

and that is the only reason I'm excited for this. I actually wasn't until these recent pics, but I'm sure I can just leave the neck & tail in alt mode and fold out the wings when I want to! (plus, with the feet folded down he looks a little like a Metal Gear)

Really, this is precisely why I like him. What's more badass than a Godzilla monster? A transforming robot Godzilla monster. And from the context of the film universe, it really does make a certain amount of sense; Soundwave doesn't seem to have any sort of decent self defense capabilities floating in space, so his drones need to defend both him and themselves. Only makes sense to me that Laserbeak would be so tricked out.
I don't see what the complaints are about, honestly; his smaller, compact mode is a spitting image of Laserbeak right down to the head, albeit very Movie-verse-looking, which should be expected at this point. The only part that doesn't look like Laserbeak is his second bird mode, which frankly I'm glad we even have since neither Ravage nor Scorponok had proper alt modes. At least Laserbeak actually transforms into something completely different this time instead of not transforming into anything or just curling up into a ball and calling itself a space rock.
