I wouldn't call him a stereotype. He had a (legit) Italian accent and that was it.

Convention. An accent can help you get a specific mental image of a character, and it makes them more identifiable then they would be if everyone just had a northeastern american one or something. In-universe, I assume it matters where they land and what their first data scans would be like. If some random autobot lands in Germany and the first broadcast it picks up is a german-language sitcom, they're going to pick up that accent.

Unless it does something really cool for a character, I've always felt accents are overused in Transformers as a whole. For example, Cybertron with it's Texan Skywarp, Australian Jetfire felt unnecessary, but the New York accents of Ransack and Crumplezone were golden (in my opinion).
Now for the movies, I'd be okay if they used accents liberally, but not to the point of giving characters such strong accents that they feel like stereotypes, regardless of the stereotype laden writing (looking at you Skids and Mudflap). For example, Ken Wantanabe may naturally have a strong Japanese accent, but I've seen films where he's had a softer accent. Why this couldn't be applied to Drift? We'll never know.

In some other part of the world your probably considered a stereotype.
And even if he was you do know just because someone is a stereotype doesn't mean it's a bad thing right?
Look at the G1 cartoon for example it has a lot of similar characters there.

It was explained in the very first movie that they picked up the Earth languages through the Internet so their accents would have been derived from whatever it was they gravitated towards on the web.

Skywarp was in Cybertron?
Guess I never saw him with Thundercracker on the screen all the time.

So with this not being an Italian car model, and with Francesco Quinn having passed away, I really don't think this is Dino.
If they were to bring him back they probably don't want to deal with Ferrari's ridiculous contract again.
They would also probably change his name from Dino to Mirage.
Plus Sideswipe had his voice actor changed in between rotf and dotm.

Red car is not hot rod he has been seen separately from this guy.
Also according to people who have been on set Cogman is being referred to as an Autobot.

That's fair. But please, do not presume me to be a stereotype when you don't personally know me.
I'm just saying that it's extremely "normal" for modern films to just default to having characters of a certain nationality always operate like the stereotypes that are given in most forms of entertainment. I am just sick of it, regardless of it being associated with Transformers in the current discussion.
And yeah, G1 had stereotypes, and looking back, they were pretty bad. But that was another era culturally, and I feel that we should've matured in terms of foreign representation in films and TV. Of course, these films are proof we have only matured in terms of visual quality and nothing else.

The word is that Sir Anthony Hopkins
is providing the voice of UNICRON.
>>I hope this is true<<
Posted by Sabrblade on September 11th, 2016 @ 10:14am CDT
Unicron's been rumored for every movie since ROTF. And frankly, I hope he doesn't show up in any of these movies with the way they've been so far. The movies need to improve a drastic amount before they'd be ready to do justice for someone like Unicron.Nerdimus Maximus wrote:Not sure if this is already known or not.

Not saying you are one but I'm saying you might be considered one somewhere else in the world.
Bad wording choices on my part sorry.

Unicron really should be the final threat for once like he is supposed to be I mean how do you raise the stakes up even more after him?
Only thing I can think of is maybe the Elder Gods from the comics but I don't think there is anything else.

I think your right.....he's more likely to show up in that animated movie that's coming up...as part of this expanded cinematic universe!(god knows we'll prob end up with a new toy of him) seeing as Bay has been avoiding putting him in his films like the plague.

But it looks so awesome, plus, I don't think at this point any of them care about hiding, not with some of the flashy alt. modes they've chosen
You think that's weird, check out Hound's cutting-edge disguise (bet he doesn't look out of place at all in London):

To start us off, Tyrese Gibson has been fairly quiet about his role in the new movie, but this past week was kind enough to post a picture on his Facebook page showing the front cover of a script where he and Mark Wahlberg have a London scene together.
Up next is Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, which appears to be the castle meant to be King Arthur's Castle. Filming took place during both the day and the night, and you can check out those photos, courtesy of the Transformers Instagram, below.
Also as a little touch, a photo was snapped of Mark Wahlberg, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Freya the no-longer lonely dog, who appears to be Mr Hopkins companion, and mo-cap actor, which the past says is Sqweeks but rumor has it that it is someone else entirely. Check out the image below.
So another roundup is complete. What did you think of these latest news discoveries? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

I can only imagine how terrified the English Heritage workers at Rievaulx Abbey were when they heard who wanted to film there.
D-Maximus_Primal wrote:for safety reasons
It's a Michael Bay film, there needs to be at least four firetrucks and 2 ambulances on standby at any one point during filming.
