Scorponok was OK. Looking forward to seeing the reveals as always.

Actually...you have a point...SG Cloud Universe Rodimus or a Minimus Ambus?

Looks like my idea of "the boss" (or Star Lord if we're still doing the GotG thing) as Hot Rod has a chance.
That's less Dragonzord and more Mecha Godzilla for sure, though I wonder if it'll be colored like Gigastorm.
In the second panel I see what looks to be TT Silverbolt, Heinrad and Rhinox the left and Starscream and Stun Gun on the right.
Third panel is hard to make out, but they were nice enough to write "Wolfang" on one. Next to him is probably Primal Prime. The rabbit is most likely Stampy. Don't know about the dog, could be Mini-Con Overbite or even AOE Steeljaw. Looks like RID 2015 Grimlock in there as well.
Panel four is kinda hard to make out aside from the two Windblades, Springer and the dog again.

Actually, that Godzilla-ish one is an old Grimlock/Godzilla hybrid KO. I remember seeing it back in the 90s at places like KB Toys and Toy Liquidators. I was a fan simply for the Godzilla-esque look.

I think they've done an excellent job doing a ReDux of the earlier — often dated and extremely pricy — characters. I'm much more apt to dig out the new Shockaract than the delicate chrome version, for example.
Keeping some of these characters in play lets new fans get them for a decent price, plus it's also good for collectors since it doesn't let those old characters fall out of the limelight. Keep the Botcon "brand" and characters strong.
Not to mention it gives us some new story for our old characters. Also a win.
As for mixing universes in the same set, I think that can really hurt the aesthetics. The movie verse and animated have such a different look. I'd rather keep those out of a set, unless it's 100% those molds. (Add ons would be free game, of course. Those are a mixed bag.... literally! Ha ha ha.)

Well, that's what Axiom Nexus is all about.gothsaurus wrote:As for mixing universes in the same set, I think that can really hurt the aesthetics. Case in point... the two recent rescue box sets look okay in vehicle mode, but their robot modes look awful together. That chicken-legged copter is an abomination, IMHO.
Bringing it back to Botcon... that's why I felt the Animated set was such a home run, but Machine Wars was a bit of a mixed bag.

All that would matter for them now would be that the toys are fun and look good. And really, at the root of it all, isn't that what's most important?

That Axiom Nexus isn't created from a marketing standpoint.

Then it hit me. What if one of them turns out to be Animated Thundercracker from the Voyager Starscream mold? We never got one at retail from either Hasbro or Takara, we last saw him tumbling through space never heard from again (so it's not impossible for him to have somehow ended up in Axiom Nexus), he's a Decepticon (many of which are considered outlaws in the Animated universe), and his egomaniac personality could peg him as "The Boss".

Hmm, he could fit "The Boss" as well.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Speaking of outlaws, how about G2 Bulletbike? He's in Axiom Nexus already, all he needs is a new body.
Last we saw he was in TransTech Bulletbike's body (which he stole), which was based on the Beast Machines Deluxe Thrust toy (the non-show-accurate one).

I think he's more like the Loose Cannon, but eh. Another solid opportunity either way.

Sabrblade wrote:However, that story he was in was WAY too confusing (and one I didn't really like, either), so I'd be hesitant to see the Club return to him.
Still, he'd be a golden opportunity. Beast Machines Thrust (the Deluxe) is the only Beast Machines Vehicon toy that hasn't been repainted, so the mold should be in decent enough shape despite its age. I say they should go for it and worry about plot holes later.
Ok, back to speculating about the 5. Anybody think we'll see any of the cameos from the TFSS 3.0 comics, maybe as Souvenirs? To refresh your memories:
G2 Eagle Eye from Gen. Armada Starscream
Turbofire from Gen. Hoist/Trailcutter
Blue Bacchus from 2010 Tomahawk
Rotorstorm from Gen. Vortex
I'm saving Nightracer out of Gen. Tailgate for the TFSS given her size.

I always thought that mold fit the Shockwave character better. One eye, huge chest, blasters in the hands. If it was all purple, it would have made a good Shockwave in Animated. The 1 we did get wasn't bad, though.Sabrblade wrote:I feel that mold would be an opportune use for a brand new character, if ever anyone wanted to make one.

Though, the Lugnut head has five eyes.
And the United version was very purple (purple head, even), so that one could possibly serve as a Shockwave repurpose as is.

This comes from TFW2005 user Grimlockimus:
Okay so recently on the Cybercast Podcast they had a special guest that some of us may know, Pete@Botcon. During the podcast, which was really nice to watch, loved hearing about Pete's views and experiences with the convention, Pete adjusted the camera due to some toys being shown in the shot that apparently weren't suppose to be seen and well, as he said in the podcast himself it'll probably show up on TFW shortly after.
Can't get much out of the shot but one thing definately stands out and that's a Voyager Prime Breakdown with what seems to be a new head and a green paintjob. Might be our first look at a voyager from the Botcon set (the muscle?) or maybe an upcoming TFCC club store exclusive.
The podcast episode in question is this one:
Another user, Monzo, did some enhancement to the look at the toys:
All this, combined with observations made by others, the following have been spotted on that table near Pete:
- A military green or tan or gray or gold Prime Breakdown with a new headsculpt
- A blue and gray Generations Springer
- A Packrat-colored Generations Rattrap
- A blue and white Generations Bumblebee
- A red or pink Reveal the Shield Jazz with gold rims

Yes because the club has absolutely no control on what the artist focuses on in the comic, and the club was on sick leave when they wrote flareup was a ditz and other characters, cough cannonball ball focus on flamewars tits. Look I don't care about objectification, but at least do it well enough so the characterization is more than happy and ass, cunning and boobs.

Sakamoto was even asked by one of his colleagues to tone down what he had originally done with Flamewar, whom he drew with the idea of her being like a James Bond girl type. Not everyone in the Club was thrilled with it either, but it's not like it was out of character for Flamewar.
And, in what universe is Flareup a "ditz"? She's happy-go-lucky and fun-loving, but a far cry from an idiot.
Honestly, you act like what amounted to three panels of (unnecessary) fanservice was spread across the entire comic on every page as though this were an issue of Kiss Players. We get it, you hate Club fiction. But it's not so heinous as to be considered pornographic.

It's heinous because it takes away from character development and good story telling! I already stated that I don't mind objectification, hell I respect kiss players because it's balls to the wall objectification, but that was in character for kiss play. As much as I bash the club, I always expect better from them. If they went full James Bond/Tearjerker/Our Man Bashir, I would've respected it because the T&A would've been appropriate for the tone of story, it wasn't for this story. Also if the club felt it was to much, why did they approve of it? The other problem is the fact Josh Burcham wrote the characters this way, no mater what Hayato Sakamoto drew, it was a visual interpretation of Burcham's written work. If burcham wrote that cannonball made an off comment about flamewars breasts, then Sakamoto interpreted it visually, not the other way around; I take more issue with an inept writer, than an artist who likes drawing T&A.

Hi, my names Michael, and I think the club screwed up the characterization in the botcon 2014 comic, specifically for the female characters, by objectifying them in a way that didn't develop their characters or, was appropriate for the tone of story being told. Some think the fault lies on the artist for drawing them that way, I think it's the fault of a writer writing it that way. Also flare up was better developed in her other club stories, than in hoist the flag.

I'm not arguing that the fiction and art was...awkward. Especially for Flamewar...
But I can't get over the fact that Flamewar is well...the best. My argument does not go beyond that point one bit.
