Hasbro's is curently shipping from Entertainment Earth, however, Takara has made an announcement that their release of Cogman will not be coming out in OCtober. Instead, it has been postponed to a later time with no date given. So those banking on the Takara release to secure their Cogman may need to seek different options, or simply be patient for more news. We will report if anything else comes up.

The design is really cool, knew about the transformation because of a couple comments fiddled with it and think I've got the hang of it except for one thing..
THE HEAD. Is it just supposed to be wedged in the space between the feet in vehicle mode? The instructions show you turning it around and doing...something. Why is this guy a Headmaster anyway, because they got to a certain point in the design and said "Uh, we don't have the budget to engineer a hinge or other place to put the head...hmmm....let's just pull it off!". Of course the head is also very loose in robot mode, but manageable.

The negatives were some loose pins/connection pegs in the ankles and loose hips. I fixed the hips with pieces of tissue for now but I'll have to buy Future floor polish for the feet. His leg armor is also a bit funky - it's got a nice build and form on the inside of his legs but it's a bit bare and almost concave on the outside. The gun arm is also tough to swap out so I won't be doing it much, I could easily see the connection joints bending from constant removal gradually. The positives are fantastic though - his head sculpt (and the rest of him, really) is fantastic and the chest design works great. He doesn't even have the small flaps above his shoulders like the Human Alliance and MP have. Plus he has the extra little wings of MPM-3 and his roof/hood/windshields fold into his back in a similar but simpler way. This guy was definitely worth the wait for me, far better than the AoE/TLK wave 1 version of the character. He's very likely going to be the definitive deluxe Bumblebee on my shelf next to Evasion Bee.
Is that AOE or TLK Optimus? Did you paint him?
That's the Lsat Knight voyager, and yep, I painted him basically head to toe.

Ummm...isn't there a hinge so it folds back in between the 2 feet? The shoulder cannons and neck assembly hinge forward, the the neck assembly has its own separate hinge to rotate the head back in between the feet. Not that I care, I've already lost the head and replaced it with Thunderwing.

Excellent, I have a question for you. I just snagged my Nitro today at lunch and will be putting Thunderwing on him later tonight. I actually got Nitro on Monday, but he broke 7-8 steps into the initial transformation, so I never got around to transforming the head. Does the transformation work with leaving Thunderwing's head on? I'm guessing the cockpit doesn't open, so I'm hoping the head can just stay in place. Also, if it does stay in place, do you have to rortate it 180 like the directions say for Nitro's head? Thanks in advance.
Side note: Nitro's head works really well on TR Megatron.

The cockpit does open and you can fit any headmaster in, but not nitro's head. You can also leave thunderwing in place with no worries. I rotate it so the head doesn't look out.

Double function bonus! Thanks!
This really makes me think that this mold was originally for TR before they decided all voyagers would be triple changers.

Cos it would look tacky on an extremely expensive modern day Lamborghini. Maybe he'll pop up in the 80's in a Trans-Am alt-form where a flame decal wouldn't look totally out of place.
Anyways quite happy with my Hot Rod, now where's my darn Wave 3 Bee for crying out loud?

I thought that's what the instructions indicated. I'll fiddle with it here...
Oh, and the assembly popped out. Least now I can see the hinge, and after some more finagling...
Ah, there we go, got it! Thanks! Tight hinge there on mine.

The reason hes a headmaster is pretty much the same thing that happened before with revenge of the fallen arcee. something that was intended to happen in the movie that got scrapped, but was still engineered into the toy. Back when they were talking about cogmans character they said he was a headmaster, but more like the headmaster from animated. he was going to have a scene where he ripped off another robots head and took its place. It was never stated who's head he was supposedly going to be ripping off, and it never ended up happening in the movie, but given hes the only other TLK toy designed for the headmaster gimmick, but his head itself doesn't transform, Id'e say its a good bet Nitro was to be the victim.
side not, TM Megatron's head is a perfect match for nitro, and makes for one badass megs.

Probably not without some type of shapeways adapter. The ball on the other side of the TM head is quite a bit smaller than the ball used on most non-TM heads. In fact, I'm guessing you can get an adapter that has the right size "cube" for a TM head on one side and the right size ball for the non-TM figure heads on the other.

If I were you, I'd wait on doing that first to see if Takara might do something just like that for a potential Movie the Best version of Nitro.Quantum Surge wrote:Speaking of Nitro, amyone else plan to give him Shockwave's head? - - 2 pieces of credit card (or similar-thickness plastic) on one side of the neck socket, 3 pieces on the other; 3 on each side is too much and the head can't fit in, 2 on each side does nothing at all
- a small snip of regular printer paper, folded over itself 3 times, in the front of the neck-socket; it'll curve a bit to fit in front of the "latch" at the front of the socket, but that's the way it'll work
Here's a quick pic of what I mean, if my words don't make any sense (which of course they don't):
Here's what you can see when the head's on, doesn't look too bad:
And bonus extra shot of Nitro posed a little awkwardly, for no reason other than I like this toy and it's fun:

No issues with it actually staying on on my end, just wobbling around like crazy (we're talking Scourge/Highbrow levels of wobble here, if not more). It didn't interfere with the functionality of the toy honestly, more like it just annoyed me enough that I didn't mind spending an hour or so to get this otherwise-cool toy working the way I wanted

Might as well buy two. With the 3 pack coming soon (or the Movie the Best release with the hammer), I wouldn't mind having two copies of the same mold (probably should do the same with Cogman, Nitro Zeus, etc.)

You can keep one with the gun arm and the other normal to transform. I remember how excited people were for the limb-swapping gimmick when we saw the leaked instruction scans, not so much now.

Why they didn't just do a regular 5mm peg or something (like Figma-style) is beyond me. If you're gonna have a part-swapping gimmick, design the parts so they can be swapped without stressing or deteriorating anything; if you really feel like you need the security of a mushroom-peg joint, consider finding a different way to do the gimmick or just drop it altogether, either is probably better than a compromise that ends up not working properly. Admittedly I don't know what restrictions they had to work with or what led to the final decision, but from a layman's perspective, you'd think it'd be toy design 101 to not make your gimmicks wreck themselves or the toy over time.

"Over time" has never been or will be a concern for toy designers. Once it's out of their hands and has been bought they don't care anymore.

I think there is also the idea of having the figures available for when the film hits Home Video so that cross marketting can happen on that level. And I am seeing Walmarts having new spotlights on these toys with the home release on the way. Ninja Turtles and Dispicable Me also worked that way with the toys.
Anyways, lets have a laugh:

No mpm-4 optimus prime has been seen.
(Sidenote) this same toysrus also gets in a healthy stock of nintendo switches from time to time.

If they stopped shelfwarming, then they were never really shelf warming in the first place. Shelfwarming is when a toy lingers when the toyline its part of is long gone, thats what makes them so fabled, like Beast Wars Injector. Or AOE Snarl, or the YOTG toys, who I could still find a year ago.
As for Hound, I wouldnt call that shelfwarming either since its still rather recent, only a few months, right? And also, many of those are not the same hounds from when they were first stocked (since those sold well across the board, lots of fans wanted him). And plus he's a popular toy. All he needs is a little sale and I am sure they will sell well, especially through the holiday season. Plus many are still looking for decently priced Hounds, I hope they find them, hes a good toy
Deathsaurus1 wrote:This toysrus has only got in one shipment of mp-10's and only 2 mpm-3 bumblebees.
Thats still way more than what some toysrus got (which was nothing). Looks like a nice toyrsus, similar to the ones in Canada.

The whole greater Chicago area is way overstuffed with wave 1. I live in the south burbs and work in the NW burbs. If you are looking for voyagers, the only place out of TRU/Target/Walmart with anything other than Grimlock is the Walmart in Gurnee. They had a mix of waves 2 and 3 there (Hound, Scorn and Nitro).

Wave 3 Voyagers were a total chance find, just one of each on the bottom shelf of a Target - not even a Voyager price tag in that store, which naturally led to me forgetting the different Target price and frankly overpaying - $60AU ($48US) each?! (Not that I really regret it though; dunno if I'd put either of them above Megatron or Hound, that's a post for another day, but damn are they some nice toys.) Wave 2 Voyagers, though? They're everywhere now, Hound outnumbers Grimlock probably 3:2 by this point, but now that I have all the Voyagers I want - i.e. all of them bar Grimmy - I'm not too bothered. I get the feeling Hound and Megs will sell better to kids around the holiday season, and that's what keeps the brand going so it's fine by me .
Now if only I could have some newer Deluxes...

Quite shocking...
Several fans were able to use that 10$ off price law since TRU never bothered printing new tags for that pricepoint (instead using green stickers sometimes, but that wasnt on all of them everywhere).

Ah thanks! Wow! I may have to get one of those! The Paint apps are amazing! I love the reformatted Backpack into the shield. It's too bad there's no Current Masterpiece of TLK Optimus Prime in the works either by Hasbro and Takara Tomy. Probably have to wait another 10 years for a proper last knight MPM...
Don't get me wrong, I like ThreeA but non-transforming Transformers aren't as fun, cool, or functional as regular Transforming bots. Something about this TLK line is saying Takara is giving it extra special treatment with minor paint app changes, or remodeled parts, ect.. I am wondering if I shouldn't just buy my TLK Figures from Takara.. Anyone able to put a list together of the best of Hasbro VS Takara Tomy on this line? I'd love to go down the list and pick the best either USA or Japanese releases..

You should look more into this. The TLK line from Takara itself offers the exact same figures as the Hasbro ones, they just cost more for us to import. But its the same figures with packaging and everything. All the different ones you see, like the Nemesis is not part of the TLK line. They are part of another line called Movie the Best, not related to it. You can visit the link I wrote above to learn more about that line.
