The New Year’s Special release is back and it will be Encore Ironhide (Protect Black ver.). This New Year’s Special release is an E-Hobby Exclusive, which features the Ironhide mold in his Diaclone original colors.
The toy will be part of the Encore series and will include a small story that explains the purpose of the black version (in Japanese). Part of the story explains that the black version is super strong alloy called “Torisairsium”.
You can learn more about the product here. This figure will be released in April 2008.

Good question. I was wondering the same thing. Nothing was mentioned on the E-Hobby site about a new head (at this time).

The bot separates from the base.

Word. I've never seen one in real life, and it's hard to tell from that picture if the feet are attached or not. Like I said, I know it was a stupid question, but thanks.

It's actually kinda neat seeing the Autobot logo on that version. Sweet!

Overcast was only 45 or 50, Twincast, who was significantly bigger was 70, why is Ironhide so much?
Not really complaining, it's just odd.

Expecting some demand on this one? I've already pre-ordered mine.

We need more Diaclone colored repaints. And we need them to be commercially avaliable and inexpensive.

Yeah, that is pretty expensive. What's going on with BBTS prices? I'll be ordering mine directly from E-Hobby, which will be a $20 less, but still it's a pretty penny for a half shodddy mold.

By the way, if you buy this from American stores of course it will cost more because of the shipping and customs fees, as well as the usual secondhand markup.

I think you are right and eHobby saw a great opportunity to commemorate both with the black repaint.

Obviously.
But by proportion, this eHobby release is more expensive than comparible releases in the past, even accounting for the current spike in oil etc.
