Seibertron.com members Lawson and ZenithF0RTE have alerted us to two listings on Amazon.com for two volumes of IDW paperbacks (most likely comic books) for the upcoming Transformers: Animated series. The covers of which feature Optimus Prime and a different version of Megatron, resembling more his "War Within" incarnation than the early form of "Animated" Megatron we saw at Comic-con, who shared a similar head design to the Transformers Movie 2007 incarnation of Megatron. The paperbacks are scheduled for release on January 15th 2008.

See the Optimus Prime paperback (Volume 1) by clicking here.

Congrats Skowl!

I can't wait for these bad boys. I'm diggin the fireman Prime thing, and that Megs is an incredibly G1 accurate homage.

Very cool looking Megatron, someone from another forum pointed out the strong resembalence to Super Megatron from Transformers: Zone- more than co-incidence I think, the makers of this series seem to have done their research...
Roll on next year!

Samuri Megs aint to bad, Prime is horrible!

To qoute Siebertron himself when all this started, "Hasbro, are you serious!?!"

Most of his pics have shown the cannon. They probably just left it out of here along with the other stuff that should be present like quality.

I can definitely get behind that Megatron. Could use more BFG, but he's definitely megatronnier than any animated (or CGI) Megatron has been in the last 20 years !

OH FOR THE LOVE OF JESUS MOSES AND ALL THAT ARE HOLY.

People finally get a Megatron, after 20 years that looks 90% like their precious G1 Megatron, and you start bitching about his weapon? This is the first time we saw him. He may pull a Cliffjumper, you know?

But anyway, he looks freaing awsome.

I'm sorry I just had to get this out before the Geewuners marched in.

Still hate Primes look but Megatron doesnt look half bad. He's the only really good one from the cartoon so far. Now all he needs is his arm cannon and we're set.

The thing is about megatron here is they were obviously going for the G1 look. But leaving off the arm cannon is kinda like telling someone they're going to make you a grilled cheese sandwich...getting good melty cheese, the best bread you can find, putting a hint of butter on the outside to make sure it gets a good golden-brown color & a hint of added flavor....& then instead of cooking it in a skillet on a stove they just throw it in the microwave for 30 seconds.

Personally, I think he's pretty cool. But taking that extra step would have made him sooo much better.

Well that is megatrons earth mode just to tell you. You can tell becuase the cybertronian mode the to we saw looked different and had a different head and stuff. So thins is his earth mode that turns to a gun. Also i think his arm cannon couldnt fit or he didnt need it or somthing. Becuase he is confirmed to have one in both forms. Also Optimus is also looking kick ass.

Yeah, but in your arm isn't quite the same as on your arm. I mean, think about it. Which is more intimidating: a guy with a concealed waepon, or one that openly flails it around? It's obvious that the later is, because you know it's there & what it's capable of. a concealed weapon wouldn't do that, because you don't know he has it on him untill it's too late to get scared.

Yeah, I know I'm nitpicky. :P

I think that this Megatron's much more stylish than the prototype we were shown. I hope they change the head on the old one at least. It looked too much like the craptacular movie version. This head has a lot more character.

I really like Megs in that look. I have nothing wrong w/the current look, I've gotten used to the movie Megs look. But this is better, I've always loved WWI Megatron. Prime looks..okay.

I don't see any more similarity between him & super megs as there is between him & G1 megs. Maybe it's just the larger shoulder pads??

Im glad to see that we are going back to the tv series having backup stories in comic book form. (at least I hope they are backup stories, and not just adaptations of the series)

Megatron looks spectacular, I wish he wasnt going to be stuck in his cruddy movie-esque alt mode for a season prior to gaining his new form.

Really you don't see it?

The head design is similar, the raised portions on the cheek do not droop down as far on Animated Megs.

Arms are similar in coloraton and design, Animated Megs has different shoulders than Super Megs

Everything below the pecs is very similar in design and coloration.

Now let's look at G1 Megs. This design in the IDW comic is closes to his cartoon design. and this is a scan of his Marvel comics design

As you can see, while Animated Megs shares some color and design similarities with G1 Megs, the majority of his design, colors, and detailing comes from Super Megs.

But look this is kinda sunny BIG FREAKING ARM GUN(Big F.A.G) Lol i just thought it was kinda weird. Also i think it be apropriate to call it a gun becuase it shoots laser bullets while a cannon shoots cannon balls arg!!!!!!

Just because it is big dosen't necessarily mean it's heavy. Besides, it is a common war tactic to try to make your opponents sh*t their pants before battle. If it dosen't let you win right then & there just from them giving up, your opponents will very likely make a crapload of mistakes that will make your job easier. If they don't know you have a big-ass cannon lying in wait, they're gonna run at you full force with a clear head....it'd make your job unnecessarily harder. I mean seriously, if you saw a guy walking down the street with a loaded bazooka flung over his shoulder, & he made a crack at your mother/girlfriend/anything that might offend you, would you go try to knock his lights out? I know I wouldn't.

Well im not taling real people that really dosent count. Becuase it's a transformer im talking about. Also if its big its heavy. Its like say you could lift the statue of liberty with one finger and it no be heavy as a normal average human.A large cannon is going to be heavy. I would rather have speed of weaponry,.

I have no idea what to expect from this new take on transformers, but I am guessing that what ever it ends up being, I will love it.
LAZERBEAK IS AN F'ING GUITAR.
Now this.
I knew that the forces of justice existant in the space time continumm would not allow that piece of crap movie to come out without producing something else to push the pendulum back in the direction of non-crap.
