Originally I thought Metroplex was a Toys R Us ONLY figure, much like the first edition Transformers: Prime figures were and that I'd miss out on him like I did them, since that retail toy store appeared to be the only place other Seibertronians were finding him. The nearest Toys R Us is a good 45 minutes away and I didn't want to drive all that way just to not find Metroplex. The cost of gas would just make Metroplex just that more expensive.
Then Costco got him in and was selling him at a ridiculously low price and I thought that Metroplex was a "Special Buy" figure only for them. Since I'm not a member of Costco nor have any idea where the nearest one is, I wrote that one off.
When I saw Metroplex listed on Wal-Mart's website, it gave me hope that he'd show up at their stores. Eventually I gave up on Wal-Mart getting this big guy in, especially to their stores, but noted their website price was the same as www.HasbroToyShop.com at the time.
And since I needed a Generations Blaster and a Beast Hunters Vertebreak, I ordered my Metroplex from www.HasbroToyShop.com and qualified for free shipping.
Despite Wal-Mart being late to the game on this one as well as being late with the Beast Hunters Deluxe figures, doing a price roll-back to just under $10.00 long after the series has ended, the real loser seems to be me as I've overpaid on Metroplex and all of the Beast Hunter Deluxe figures.

There are about a handful of stores in Illinois that got it and it would cost me as much in gas to get there and back for the extra $10 spending it at Wally World.
I hear ya. The way people talked, I expected EVERY Cost-Co to carry him, but I had just as much trouble. Cost-Co = FAIL. I guess the membership "benefits" iinclude the inevitable disappointment and waste of gas/time?
My 2.5 yr old loves Metro! I filmed him in utter awe of the giant fig! He went ballistic when Metro fell over (as Metro has as easy a time staying upright as a drunk). My son is quick to anger...
You're making me wonder if I should let him go nutz with Metro on Xmas... I took the toy away for fear he would destroy it, but... you can't really put a price tag on that amount of toddler child-joy!
fenrir72 wrote:This is good! I hope more casual buyers and collectors buy him so the sales will encourage more Titan class releases in the future.
YES. But I get the horrible feeling Metro may end up at a TJ Maxx or Big Lots for waaaaaaaaay cheaper. Which sounds awesome at first... but then you realize Hasbro would never make another Titan again, were that the case. Still, I sincerely hope there are parents out there that realize how EPIC Metro is (scale alone is breathtaking, plus when have you seen a toy box THAT large). HOWEVER, now that I think about it, TMNT is going to suck the money out with their Lair playset (same size, same price). So it's really unfortunate that Metro has such strong competition this year...

I got a couple from HTS, thinking my discount would be the best price ($106), but what can you do?
The distribution of TF toys is frankly so bad and unpredictable that you have to go with a time-worn turn-of-phrase: "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush!"
It's not worth trying to secure a cool TF at a "good price" as you run the risk of paying DOUBLE when it's off shelves and you're stuck with scalper fees!
Ergo, you did well buying Metro when you felt the time was right. Don't beat yourself up for making the right choice (at the time), as Metro could end up anywhere (price-wise) in the future and no one can really see the future. It's what really sucks about online shopping, though: returns are a b*tch, and price-matching isn't really available.

Speaking of TF Prime First Edition, I saw Bumblebee, Starscream and Cliffjumper at TRU today in Joliet, IL. Too bad they didn't have Arcee as that's the one my son needs.

If there's a TJ Maxx near you, try looking there. They sell First Editions for $7 a pop. I've only seen Bumblebee and Starscream, though.

BB is the last resort no one wants (surprise, surprise), and my guess is the scalpers are poaching the f*ck out of Prime FE fig's, hence why it's ridiculously hard to find anything BUT BB.
But yes, Arcee has appeared in TJ's before... but I'm not going to tell you to keep looking - I'd hold off a bit and go closer to Xmas. The discount shops have been beefing up their stock, but so far it's mostly Kreo crap. I'm thinking we'll see a ton more Prime FE's closer to Xmas...
I'm personally disappointed. Prime FE? Really??? I don't know what I expected... but something better than that!

Does anyone else hate the damn stickers. First one I tried to put on (the Optimus window)I dropped and bent it. Now it has a horrible scuff in the corner that is driving me mad. This was why I never used to put the stickers on when I was a kid.

Of course not, because you don't care what the topic is; for you, every thread is just an opportunity to argue, flame-bait, and troll.

Mod's? Little help here? (I NEED AN ADULT, I NEED AN ADULT!)
Guy, it's okay to go a little off-topic from time to time. Sort of how a conversation may start at A and end at B, right? My TJ Maxx Prime FE comment was in the same vein of "saving $$$ when buying TFs", which inevitably involves discussing other retailers (observe, other posters mentioned other retailers when discussing where to buy Metro, despite the thread explicitly being about "WAL-MART"). But let me bridge a connection, for the the sake of argument, and say I want to place these FE Primes ON Metroplex. Ergo, I'm really talking about Metroplex accessories, which may be of interest to others who are buying a Metroplex from Wal-mart and are thinking about how to accessorize!

Sorry, I actually didn't know about that button! I didn't mean to ruin a mod's day or anything. Just thought of getting help however I could think of, before things got "out of hand".
FYI: Saying "you people" is pretty offensive. No need to stop a friendly quarrel with a vaguely racist/prejudiced insult.

Okay, first things first. When a member of staff tells you to stop... You do it!
Second, things started getting out of hand when you were conversing with Guyincognito. Both of you have been at each other's throats before and it's ridiculous. You two need separated and put in different corners. You are not to take action, you are not to take matters into your own hands.
Third, Burn meant nothing by the phrasing "you people". He's frustrated and worn out with all of the craziness that goes on here. Not just this thread, but others. Constant requests for warnings, "please tell (username) off for me", requests for bannings, on top of all this silliness. It gets to you pretty quickly. With that in mind, Burn's intentions were pure, nothing offensive intended, just frustration.

Anyway, back to the topic. In an American Mall setting please clarify if possible.
I read it another topic that he is sold at retail around $80 while here going to near a $100. Does the SRP stamped on him include the taxes or is separate until you reach the counter?
Its different where I come from or did I just misunderstand?
2scraplets1kup wrote:GOT MINE AT COSTCO IN LODI, CALIFORNIA. $79.99. $86 and change with tax. SCREW THESE INFLATED PRICES! He's a great great toy, but he's not worth $130, and definitely not worth over $200 or 300 for some ridiculous deco and another gun. Whoopdee friggin doo. I used a silver metallic sharpie on his face too and put his stickers on and he looks FANTASTIC. Definitely a must in any collection.
I understand that everyone wants more bang from their buck to get the best version possible. You yourself took matters into your own by emulating the "metal" face/chrome face of the G1 fig. That's great but about the extra cost for the extra gun and paint apps..........plain and simple economics. You add something and if it goes beyond your bottom line, charge more for it. If products are released at a loss, then this will discourage future releases of these types of items.
And to the mods, do you guys have any insider info if the Titan Class release was a boon or bust?

Don't ask me, I'm forum staff, the news staff keep such info to themselves and never share.
They're mean like that.
But it is an interesting question. Can anyone shed any info on it?

We too would like to know. As of right now, we have no idea. With Christmas coming, plus sales, I'd imagine that it should sell pretty well.
After having him, I finally saw a need to own the IDW Commander Class figures. I found Bumblebee for $7.00, figured I'd give him a whirl. He fit the shoulder cockpit in battlestation mode perfectly. I knew right then and there I needed the rest. Fortunately, they're showing up at Big Lots for $10.00 a piece. Nabbed me Optimus, Megatron and Starscream to round out the set.
...they look amazing with Metroplex. He can "crush" them in his hands, the Autobots can ride or climb all over him in all 3 modes, and it makes for such an amazing display piece.
I'll be buying all these little guys.
