Because they can. This actually isn't the first time they rereleased old figures into the movie line. They did it with a couple of scout figures. Infact, I think alot of the scout figures are remolds.
And none of us should be complaining, since these Cybertron figures haven't been repainted that often, and these aren't exactly crappy repaints.
Like I said before, I'm buying all of these.

They all look good except Divebomb, that Thundercracker mold is horrible, and those ugly colours don't do anything to make it more appealing.
Big Daddy is the best and most original of the bunch! Such a great idea!

Perhaps they're trying to get all the use they can out of these mediocre molds before they break so they don't have to store them, & perhaps could recycle the materials in the broken mediocre molds to make better molds later.....hopefully.Sabrblade wrote:Why are they rereleasing old figures into the movie line? I never owned a Cybertron figure before, so I don't know the crappiness of the Cyber keys or the quality of plastic, so could you explain why the Thundercracker mold is horrible?

Haha, I thought i'd see 'Grindhouse' before I'd see a transformer named 'Grindcore'.

No you're not! That name jumped out at me right away, very cool and original - though I think it would suit a Decepticon better. It's almost as good a name as "Meantime"!

The Cybertron line as a whole was very, very good. Lots of great figures, and the gimmick was interesting without gettting in the way - the figures had lots of play value... but Thundercracker... jeez, his feet are so small he can barely stand up, he has a big dumb head that's way too big for the rest of his body and he has a giant clothes-pin for an arm. His gimmick isn't even interesting, his arm just opens a teeny little bit, just enough to shoot a missile out. Oh, and he has all these rubber bits in vehicle mode, and he just transforms into one ugly Decepticon.
If you never get a Cybertron toy, I suggest you go back and pick up a few of them (Armorhide, Downshift, Landmine, Shortround, Evac, to name a few...) but avoid Thundercracker.

Thanks for the insight, Skowl. I think it's either Hot Shot, Excellion, Crosswise or Thunderblast in the Mail right now.. so hopefully they'll lead me to buy more of the Cybertron line-up, once all of those Takara mini-cons are taken care of.

Pass on the other one, I already have Thundercracker and Skywarp, and they were pants enough.
As for Cybertron as a whole, it was a fantastic line, the best all round transformers line of the lot IMO, and it's a blessing that they have started repainting them instead of making yet more ugly, fragile and boring movie toys with that stupid and pointless automorph gimmick...

hmn. Deco reminds me of the desert-camo Ruination set, only this one's better. Might get this one.
Skowl wrote:And view the auction for another auction for Big Daddy here. Big Daddy is a repaint of Cybertron Downshift.
I'm gonna buy it just because his name's Big Daddy. It's kinda like Sam's user name on eBay being Lady's Man 217 though.
Edit: Besides that, Downshift is my favorite figure from Cybertron. Just too good a figure for me to pass on.

I also hope that the head mold on Divebomb actually resembles the package (with the pseudo face plate.) It'd look really nice, and gives it a sort of pilot helmet look- which is really somehting that should be utilized more often on jet-formers

Another thing I like is that they’re re-releasing these figures a lot of people missed out on.

He reminds me a lot of a cyberjet and correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t the Japanese version not have the cheesy plastic?
Posted by Liege Evilmus on December 22nd, 2007 @ 6:57pm CST
Big Daddy, I'm contemplating cause he's cool. The rest, one is enough.
However I'm not totaly condeming these. If you missed out on some of these molds, all of them except the Jet are realy fun, so give them a try.
Then agin, my local supermarkets and no name department stores still have them from the Cybertron line in one color scheme or another, so "meh" unless you don't feel like looking around.

Grindcore? What's next? A Decepticon named Crossdress?
Jolt and Big Daddy (see, I got it right this time) are definitely go-for's.

It could be a male repaint of Energon Arcee! Until, then I’ll use Override or Airrazor.

Jolt looks like he'd make great custom fodder for a classicverse Bluestreak - just paint the purple alt mode parts black and you're set. It would look great next to Cyb Smokescreen.
Posted by Bluesummers on December 22nd, 2007 @ 9:04pm CST
I also have Smokescreen, and Downshift...but the repaints are actually looking good right now. I guess it's because I haven't seen a TF on the shelves for about a month.
I'm interested to see their bios...what reason do they have for carrying gigantic keys?

Story wise, who knows? They'll come up with something...or not. Toywise, though....I'd have to say because it's part of the toy mold coupled with the fact that the toys are designed with gimmicks that you need the keys to activate.Bluesummers wrote:It's kinda disappointing that they just pushed a bunch of repainted Cybertron figs into movie packaging. At least the repaints are good, save for the seeker. I actually have Cybertron Skywarp and TC, so there's no need to get that thing.

Big Daddy is also a must have for me. Love the car style (reminds me of the old Barracuda just a tad.) and the pain job rocks. Jolt, I'll have to see close up before I decide and Dive Bomb...looks like somebody in the paint dept. had an accident.
Pass on that one.

I LOVE that Crosswise has been repainted into a Decepticon, and repainted with Decepticon colors.
They should have made Grindcore a Decepticon, since they already painted him green, like a Constructicon. I almost want to get him and slap a `Con logo over his `Bot logos, so he can join the other Constructicons coming in TF Animated.
And Big Daddy is awesome. I never got Cyb Downshift cause I didn't like his shade of green, but this paint scheme is great. I'll slap some `Con logos on him, too, and call him Slicer.
Oh, and since we're, apparently, getting the whole Cybertron toy line repainted into the Movie line, then I would LOVE to have a Thunderblast repaint, preferably into an Autobot.

Grindcore I am defiantly getting. A new head, a few mods, and he will become Scrapper, left foot of doom. The colors already work so i won't have to worry about paint chipping on him. Plus that means my C-Landmine won't have to get butchered for the project.
The other two I can skip, I like my G2 jolt fine, its a nice homage but not a huge fan of the mold.
And Divebomb though looking like a cool G2 homage is such a crap mold.
Posted by metalformer on December 23rd, 2007 @ 12:54am CST
For a moment I thought Divebomb was a repaint of (Movie) Dreadwing.
And I love the name given to the Cybertron Landmine repaint! \m/
