Hmmm... the smaller size might bring him more in line with Classics Prime.

Excelent! Can't wait for it! BTW, he seems to be seated in the picture of the IQ-swaping device. Anyway, I hope it is the size of MP Optimus Prime. Smaller is a bit uncooler, but bigger than that will be a problem for me...

If I had a G1 Grimlock and Optimus this would be easier, but I've been trying to figure out the rough proportions here.
If G1 Optimus is about 6 inches tall (which I read that he is), then the sitting MP Grimlock is about 7-8 inches tall.
If we stand Grimlock up, that should make him 9-10 inches tall, right?

Now this is guesswork from online pics here, but it looks like G1 Grimlock was about 1.25 times taller in bot mode than rex mode.

So in bot mode, MP Grimlock would (hopefully) be 1.25 to 1.33 times larger than in alt mode.
This would make him between 11 and 13 inches tall in bot mode.
So 12" is probably a safe bet, I guess.

How's that for random pseudo-algebra? Lol...

On the brighter side, though, that's about how tall MP Prime is.
So Grimlock might be able to look him in the eye.

Grimlock is sitting in that picture. If you can't see it ... look again. His foot makes it obvious.

Look at the size of Grim's head. It's just about the same size of Prime entire cab, width-wise. Look at the brain helmet, as that will easily fit over Prime's head.

So that would indicate that his head is roughly about 2.5"-3" long. Looking at him, he's about 4 heads high. This would make him about 10-12" tall ... which puts him exactly at the reported 30cm.

I can definitely live with that. I would prefer a bigger bot, but he should at least be the same size....

I hope this is one of the MP's that Hasbro wants to do for 25th anni. He'd be way cheaper to pick up for those of us in the U.S.

It'd be nice if they gave us a deal like they did with MP Starscream.

Judging from the few pictures we've seen thus far, it looks like both bot mode and dino mode have a decent range of motion.
The bot mode legs alone are enough to give me hope.

So will we get a super-poseable MP like Prime?
Or will we get a not-so-poseable MP like Megatron and Starscream?

Other than MP-01 Prime and the 2 extra Seekers, half the MPs so far have come without significant accessories they were either shown to have, or expected to come with...

MP-02: Trailer? I know it's an easy white repaint, but Ultra Magnus WAS missing what makes him Ultra Magnus, the armor/trailer
MP-03: Okay, not an expected accessory, but we were all disappointed that the crown/cape/shoulder pieces weren't included
MP-04: Roller?
MP-05: Stock and extension
MP-06: fine
MP-07: fine
MP-08: Gun

I know that JUSTiTOYS or Fans Projects will probably make the gun, but they really shouldn't have to make it.

Hopefully it's an oversight, as his gun is pretty standard, I'd say more than the stupid sword. I know I'd rather have the gun over the big red sword.

Great! He needs his gun. The LED functions are a nice touch, although they mean something that will eventually break down the road.

I'm still convinced he's going to be pretty tall, but you think it's crap because of the possibility it's not as tall as MP Prime? Despite the fact it's otherwise a beautiful rendition of G1 Grimlock?

Well, it looks like the photo is trying to imply that his tail wiggles... yaay wiggle!

How poseable is that particular incarnation?
All the video reviews of G1 Grims make him seem like a typical stick figure.

Just from looking at him, he appears to be pretty articulate, almost on par with MP Prime, and especially compared to G1 Grimlock, whose only articulations were his knees and shoulders. All in all, this guy looks great to me. I really don't care if he's MP Prime sized or MP Seeker sized, either way it's one bigass Grimlock. Just in style alone, this guy looks better than any MP except Prime. While I find the drink tray hilarious, and the brain-transfer device somewhat funny, it's the crown that really gets my attention. Such a small, silly detail from the Marvel comics, I'm surprised Takara was even aware of it, but boy am I glad they decided to make it. I've got this guy on preorder, and his arrival will be a day of much celebration.

Now if only they'd give me an MP Shockwave or Galvatron.

I don't see anything in the description that indicates that he'll be the same height as a Seeker. The 30 cm robot mode is there. I think the Seeker size claim is false, at least in robot mode.

Regarding the figure itself - the dino mode is very poseable. I like the jointed dino arms and the tail that jointed as well. The has to be in there.

So many great G1 referenced bonuses with this release. Really love that!

I have one pre-ordred....but, I am going to be BUMMED if he is smaller than MP Prime. Hopefully not. At LEAST the same size I hope.

If he's as tall as MP Prime in bot mode I'm happy.

It's MP Grimlock. I'm happy. Seeker size --- that's fine with me.

If they release a Swindle repaint of Universe Hound then I reckon he'd be perfect for a Jurassic Park style chase scene!!!

Masterpiece is really outdoing itself this time. Grimlock is a must. But.. due to a weak CDN dollar and even more bitching border customs.

You have to remember that these pictures are of the prototype. Things can change. Case in point: Masterpiece Starscream. Below is the first images of the prototype. Many things changed for the final toy (mainly the legs).

I understand the size argument, but regardless of height he still looks to be a beautiful piece to me. And there seems to be a lot of discrepency between different websites so I think the price is still in flux.

I'm definatly gonna get one, but i'm gonna hold off for a bit till i order or preorder one!

Man forgot how much better I liked the proto than the final product.

Shouldn't the claw thing on his wrist fold away?

It looks fine in the cartoon, because their size tend to be variable. But retaining those gigantic pointed claws on the wrist looks weird.
