We thank RotorstormNZ for letting us know of a press release from Splash Damage for the upcoming Transformers Reactive page. A few other points to get to before the press release:

- some images have popped up on Twitter with rumours of being the game's leaked designs but there is no confirmation at the moment: https://twitter.com/ROTBTrailer/status/ ... 1685274624

- while the trailer is from a first person point of view, and hopefully a trailer is meant to give some impression of the game and what it entails (to create some hype), it being first person is not part of the game's description

- The thumbnail is an image of Shockwave that comes from the trailer

Trailer really got me, the post-apocalyptic setting coupled with the new cover of Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" is really good and really fun to watch. I am intrigued.

And if that Bee concept art is what we are seeing in the game, that is extra awesome!

So a bit of this was in that press release, but Splash Damage are also responsible for and/or were involved with the following, based on a quick google search:
-multiplayer for Return to Castle Wolfenstein
-Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
-multiplayer for Doom 3
-Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
-Dirty Bomb
-Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
-multiplayer for Gears of War 4 & 5
-the PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Just based off that, this should be a good multiplayer shooter, making those is Splash Damage's bread-and-butter. Whether it's a good TF game, that remains to be seen.

Unless they blatantly say what they're showing is in-game footage or a cutscene rendered using the in-game engine, then it's safe to assume what they're showing is gonna look better and/or different from the real game because they paid to make a fancy cinematic. Most companies these days don't start showing that kind of real footage until at least the second time they take a game to an event like this (or the first time, if the game wasn't announced at an event).

I wonder if this "Legion" is something new or if they're a different take on the Quintessons. Some of those aliens looked a lot like the tantacly Quintesson things from Cyberverse. Either way, it's nice to see the Transformers and humans together in darker, grounded scenarios. It annoys me so much when the human characters don't or can't join in when the action starts. Hate on the live action films all you want, but those scenes where the military and the Autobots fight together in DOTM kick ass! :michaelbay:

I'm not saying no, just don't get your hopes up. I too want epic single player action but best to play it safe.

Well, there's already a Unicron-related Legion in Transformers, which also involved infecting/fusing with other machines and beings. It's just...not one fans like to remember. :SICK:

Anyway, I really like this concept! It's a completely new idea for Transformers, and I always like when we explore and enrich more of their universe beyond Cybertron and Earth. If the toy rumours are true, I hope we get figures of the Legion units themselves.

The multiplayer aspect, however, does nothing for me. Hopefully we actually have a solo story mode.

Also, anyone else notice this?

Twitter has been a-flutter with potential leaks for the recently-announced PC and console game Transformers: Reactivate.

“Transformers Reactivate News” (@TFR_News) has shared a “gallery screen” which may be character selection for the game. The tweet is here: https://twitter.com/tfr_news/status/160 ... 1k6UR4l5ow. This gallery shows seven Transformers in robot mode with smaller images of the alternate forms. Characters featured are Starscream, Slipstream, “Hotrod”, Soundwave, Sunstreaker, Ironhide and Windblade. The fliers’ altmodes are very Cybertronian in design whilst the other bots and cons have vehicle modes more akin to Earth vehicles (including an off-road 4X4 truck Soundwave).

A video by RoboGamer1HD is also doing the rounds where the YouTuber talks about what we’ve seen and heard both officially and unofficially, and hypothesizing about the beta. This video includes glimpses of gameplay footage which indicates the game uses a third-person view rather than the first-person seen in the announcement trailer. The video is here:

Another Twitter account, “Is Transformers Rise of the Beasts Trailer 2 out?” (@ROTBTrailer), has shared screenshots of the gameplay footage from RoboGamer’s video from 2018 here: https://twitter.com/rotbtrailer/status/ ... l2JArcjztA. Another tweet from the same account (https://twitter.com/rotbtrailer/status/ ... 1k6UR4l5ow) suggests the game‘s development started with Certain Affinity in 2017 before moving to current developer Splash Damage. The poster is adamant all leaks confirm that Reactivate is a third-person perspective game.

One can only hope more official reveals are coming and, for this fan at least, that we see toys based on these designs!

And I bet that will be some sort of Overwatch clone full of predatory microtransactions.
I expect that game to be a steaming pile of hot garbage but if we can get Generations toys out of it, all will be forgiven.

A disclaimer though, it's relatively easy to change the position of the camera when programming so the game may have started out in 3rd person but in the years since that footage could have easily changed. Especially if hasbro came along and said "that overwatch/fortnite is popular! Give us that"

What we really need is more official information to clear this up, but we're probably not going to get that till January at the earliest (unless the developers give an interview somewhere in the mean time)

Agreed. I’m taking everything with a grain of salt until Splash Damage says otherwise.

-Seeker designs look cool, but I'd like to see the full bodies
-Windblade (hey Hasbro remembered her, look at that)....sure looks like Windblade, not really seeing any unique tweaks here
-Ironhide is looking surprisingly like his Prime design, I'm into it
-Hotrod and Sunstreaker I definitely need to see more of to be certain, but initial reaction is definitely no thank you, I'll pass

Oh I know the games are nothing alike, but I was thinking more of popularity (though Overwatch 2 has caused that to dip thanks to Activision Blizzard predatory business practices and shoddy launch). Hasbro executives won't care about how the game works, they'll just care about the green it brings in.

It does have a "WFC on Earth" look the aesthetic. A true third game to WFC/FoC, not like the awful RotDS. Fingers crossed it pans out that way. I suppose, as it is on Earth, you can't avoid some level of human involvement. Although Devastation did that well enough.

I'd expect human involvement to be extremely limited especially if there's no single player mode (the developer is only known for multiplayer games like Enemy Territory)

The free to play aspects are on full display with these screenshots, but we were all fully prepared for that.

While I doubt that they'd put blatant pay to win options in (like say elite weapons that deal double or triple damage), the micro-transactions will be designed for multiplayer mode.

How naive you are!

I expect loot boxes, paywalls, and "energy crystals" aplenty.
My expectations for this game are so rock bottom, they actually reach the magma layer.

So like any other game (and a certain RL principle) not spending money means you stay weak and low on the proverbial ladder. Got it.

I already dislike MMO games for the types of players they attract, mind you... And I'm already antisocial >:oP

I'd say more like if you don't pay you're stuck with default characters/skins while those who flash the cash get the better characters/skins that you probably want (thus trying to influence you into spending money as well)
