Also related to Transformers: The Last Knight - and following the recent news of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean hack issue - we have a snippet from a PGA event attended by producer Ian Bryce. The event saw PGA President Lori McCreary discussing the troubles with security for digital products, and the difference with print versions of the same. Check out the specifics below, and here for the whole piece!

McCreary, who admitted that her company had experienced a hack, urged caution and attention to this area, and Transformers: The Last Knight producer Ian Bryce agreed. “We don’t have prints,” he said. “We are sending [digital] footage [around the world to different countries], temp footage to final shots, and people are going to be after it. When you invested $150 million in a production, that’s risky.”

Of course. Let me double check the staff forum, if it's in there. (I'm still having problems with the e-mail, so I just kinda gave up on it. )

18th June premiere? That's a Sunday. I couldn't get to London even if I wanted to cos lack of public transport here on that day. Also I'd be knackered cos it's show week for my local production of Dad's Army and on that Saturday in particular is tiring cos we got an afternoon and evening performance then the clear out and aftershow party. And yet I bet I'll still cycle the 5 or 6 miles to the car boot sale at about 6am the Sunday morning cos I don't want to miss out on any potential Transformers bargains. I'll see The Last Knight when it's easily available in Cambridge (still a tough journey for me to make at times but is nearest cinema with the comfy chairs of comfiness) hopefully on the 22nd. :D

For those not wanting spoilers the first premier for the movie is tomorrow although I don't if there is an embargo or not regarding if people can talk about the movie.

So if I wanted to avoid everything I would stay off starting tomorrow or the next day.

Can I ask why the older generations hate movie designs so much, but people my age love them for technical bits and bobs? I mean, you'd think the older generations would like machine parts more. Guess it's nostalgia getting the best of people. And I guess I'm starting to convert to the Bayverse robits cult.

As for TLK, so far I get the vibe that it will be superior to RoTF and AoE, and on par with the original and DoTM.

I am most curious as to how they will reconcile having both Megatron and Galvatron.

is there proof of there being two individual characters?

my guess?

a stalwart and self-aggrandizing, Master-Warlord bot like Megatron,
(who chose his own name!)
isn't going to allow some grubby, filthy, Cybertronium stealing, corpse robbing,
FLESH-SQUISHIES,
put there moniker on the once and future king!

Megatron thinks humans are disgusting. Why would he want to keep their technology?

I think this is more deserving of its own thread; unless I'm missing a specific post or conversation?

Regardless I don't think this is strictly true or something that we can quantify without an actual survey. My experience is in fact the complete opposite - a lot of older people I know either like or don't care about the movies and their designs, while most of my peers think they're pretty terrible (though I'm not sure whether you'd define me as being a 'young' or 'old' generation; I'm 20 1/2 just for the record). I myself don't like them as I find them needlessly and overly complicated to the extent I can't really admire anything about them beyond just the pure skill, time and effort required to design them and put them to screen; even though the biggest thing I should be deriving from a character design would be in how it evokes the character and sets them apart from the others (admittedly, the Autobots have had a decent run of the latter with colour-coding and both factions have highly differing body-types). Also on a less professional level, it just looks plain ugly and unappealing to me.

Though, yes, I would think a lot of the 'criticism' aimed at the Bayformers designs from older Transformers fans would be the whole nostalgia-to-absurd-extents thing this fandom is unfortunately quite renowned for. Of course not a hard-and-fast rule and I expect many of these older fans would dislike them for other reasons - perhaps similar to mine - but I would simply be wearing glasses as rose-tinted as theirs if I didn't count this factor. I'd also be wearing those glasses if I didn't also factor in that there are a lot of people who hate the movies for other reasons and then leap to criticising the designs whether they would like them or not just based on the fact they hate the movies anyway. Talking of other reasons, you've also got to consider how the designs are used and shot beyond just the designs themselves and... and I'm getting off track.

Beyond said nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses though I'm not sure one can generalise like this when I've seen significant like and dislike from any generation. Just depends on your aesthetic tastes and if you can put aside Sideswipe not looking like Sideswipe.

I mean it's not like Sideswipe was a "character" or had personality in G1 at least that's something the movie version had alike eh?

No but seriously I think the first Sideswipe with personality I can remember was either the WFC guy or the Animated one.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was just picking a random character who was in the Bay movies and didn't resemble in any way the character they were supposedly based on. Admittedly, that means I could have picked anyone who isn't Optimus or Jazz. Whether or not they had a character in G1 is debatable and I will also enjoy seeing it pointed out that of the G1 cartoon's rather large cast, only a handful had notable character traits. A bit like these movies.

About TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT
The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).
There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

A video was uploaded yesterday from the popular Australian automotive Youtube channel Mighty Car Mods, sponsored by Transformers The Last Knight, featuring the hosts trying to create a car that would be quite the robot racer in disguise, as they try to make the fastest quarter-mile car they can from the most boring car they can find. For that, they travel all the way to Japan to pick up an 80's Toyota Cresta, send it back to their shop to see if, despite the unassuming exterior, they can turn it into one of their fastest quarter mile racers yet!
Were they successful? Find out below, as the entire video has been linked for your viewing convenience.

Transformers 5 star Isabela Moner continued her series of behind the scenes videos from the TLK set! In this fourth installment, she gives us some great shots of the Bumblebee, Hound, and Hot Rod vehicles from The Last Knight, as well as some details on what they happened to be filming that day, which appears to be the scene where Hot Rod turns from his Citroen alternate mode to his current Lamborghini Centenario (accidentally referred to as a Maserati in the video) vehicle mode! Check out the full video below and stay tuned for a potential part five in these days leading up to the premier!

There may have been a new reveal as to what new track will be the New Divide-ing Battle Cry (geddit?) for Transformers: The Last Knight, courtesy of the official website and its new 'Ride or Die' character quiz. Let's take it with order: Bumblebee appears as you load it up with “Cake by the Ocean” by DNCE snipped in the background.

Image

You are then prompted to answer five multiple choice questions, with musical cutscenes between loading screens, leading to the final result.

Image

Depending on the character, you'll be given a Spotify link with a playlist tailored to Bumblebee, Izabella, Cade, Viviane, Megatron, and Optimus Prime.

Image

While the playlist tracks obviously differ, the one constant appears to be “Torches” by X Ambassadors. Though we know Celldweller i taking part in the movie soundtrack too, we have yet to have confirmation on any new track for the movie other than the snippets heard in trailers! So, is this one it? Take a listen, and let us know in the Energon Pub!

What age range are we talking about when saying 'older generations'? I'm 38 in August and the movie stuff is my fave and as I've said before, provides the complexity and general real-world approach to the design and transformations I have always wanted since I was happily buying the Marvel UK comics as a kid and getting Transformers toys as presents.

I'm HIGHLY OFFENDED that I wasn't invited to the Transformers 10 year celebration in China today! I stood behind this franchise for years! I was one of the main pioneers of this whole movement! I was in the trenches when people said these movies wouldn't amount to shit! When they said these movies don't deserve to be lauded and praised to the highest regard! I was there! I endured the death threats when I said these movies are the greatest movies of all time; the greatest form of media to ever graze the face of the Earth! I told people hundreds and hundreds of years ago this franchise would do great things and nobody believed me! The disrespect is BLATANT! Very sad!

He's not but until his official name is confirmed I'm just referring to him as "Wreck-Gar" hence the " " just like how the old tank at Hopkin's castle is being referred to as "Bulldog" because that's the word on the side of the tank.

Besides having "Beards" that don't even look the same he looks nothing like Hound in fact in the Ellen clip which seems to take place before this scene Hound is shown in his TLK body.

This guy has a completely different voice, different hands, a different "hat" and is quite a bit shorter too plus the guy was complaining about them always fighting and Hound is the opposite of that.

Also some dude I've been talking to told me the guy is a different character from Hound among other more "spoilery" things.

Regarding not Hound-Gar I heard an interesting idea and decided to do some quick research so most of you know that Hound had a G1 counterpart right?

Well he had a repaint back in 2004 as an E-Hobby exclusive named Detritus http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Detritus_(G1)

Image

Detritus is a Junkion much like Wreck-Gar and is a mercenary who would work with both Autobots and Decepticons making him some what of a neutral and although this guy seems to be a pacifist unlike Detritus it still might make him a neutral.

While their not much like their G1 counterparts we got obscure names with The Fallen, Crosshairs, Barricade, Blackout and Grindor and that's just remembering from the top of my head.

I can totally see these films using even more obscure names since this film is seemingly trying to be all lore heavy with Transformers.

With the exception of The Fallen - which admittedly was pretty surprising - I'm pretty sure those names were just chosen because they figured they fit the characters rather than them knowing those names had previously just been supplied. More than likely they were just on a list of names Hasbro still had copyrighted and said could be used.

Still, never know - if this was intentional and there's some huge TF nerd working on this movie, that'd be pretty awesome :D

Has it been too long since you've seen Age of Extinction? Need a crash course before you walk in to The Last Knight? Just want to see it one more time? Have you seen it too many times? Well I can't help you there BUT for all those other situations, let me point you toward a deal that RedBox is currently putting on: If you rent AOE, you'll get a code via email for $5 dollars off your TLK movie ticket!

This deal comes to us from Seibertron himself, who provided a photo of the Redbox, featuring posters for the discount and everything!

Even though I already have like, 5 versions of the movie, I'm about to go Redbox it right now just to support it.

The China premier event was streamed yesterday. I'm still HIGHLY OFFENDED that I wasn't invited after all I've done.

Anyways this guy on Tfw2005 who so happened to be at the premier was spilling the beans about the movie I saved screenshots as "proof" and you guys can Pm me specific questions if you want

For those that want to know the movie is better then the sequels although one of them thinks the first one is better, the Transformers get a lot of screen time and interactions including the Decepticons.

Edit: the big twist of the movie is mentioned in big detail and I suffered the consequences and have read it but whatever I'll enjoy seeing it on screen so yeah...giant mega spoilers.

Edit 2: and so were deaths... screw me that's the thing I wanted to avoid man I really should of waited because just reading it is jaw dropping so I'm saying this now as a warning.

Whatever you do don't read any major spoilers before watching the movie at all seriously it's a colossal mistake and you will regret doing so a lot only do so if you really want to like seriously this is the first time I regret doing this like there should be a news post telling people not to.

If I'm not allowed to say anything I won't and this will be all besides maybe standard voice cast for characters we know are in the film.

Well, yes, I would assume reading spoilers for a story you're excited for would ruin the story to some extent. That's why they're called spoilers. Not really something to make a news post about.

What I will ask though - and there might be something official about this later, I'm just saying it unofficially now - please do not post ANY spoilers for the movie in this thread whatsoever before it is publicly released. Even minor vague things like 'a character dies' - admittedly, not exactly unexpected in a Michael Bay Transformers movie - are something that would be best saved for PMs. I realise leaks and early viewings are becoming a thing, but let's not ruin things for everyone else.

I shall not nor never post what I've read in this public forum heck I only wanted to know a few minor details which I got the answers for in fact one of them which is non spoilery is above which is the name of the Junk Truck guy.

Any questions will be answered in private pm's and I shall not share the major plot twist although people are going to spread it anyways since a lot of people saw this post as well I'll only share the big deal with people I know who won't spread the news.

I'm not a jerk who's going to ruin the movie for other people I'm just a guy who constantly hunts for news and I just so happened to bite off more then I could chew this time actually I just went and tweeted to Bay about the leak.

Z3ROhour wrote:huh?

Pardon my emotions the gist of it is someone leaked most of the movie and I'm warning people not to read the stuff.

Turns out he "might" be lying or at least is saying so to throw people off.

If he is I got baited hard because he actually wrote that up well.

Thats what happens when I jump the gun although I will still tell people if they want to know what he said.

Dumb question but- how does the 5$ off email code work? Do I need to print anything? I have never used fandango before. Also - old grandpa Wreckerjack does not have a smartphone, so if its an app that won't work for me.
