Just hours before the worldwide release of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen hit the theatres, Transformers movie scribes Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman chatted with i09.com about certain robots being anatomically correct and returning for the 3rd film.

Although they couldn't remember the origins of Devastator's testicles. Orci thought that Bay had demanded "a big pair of testicles." But Kurtzman reminded him that it was actually co-writer Ehren Krueger's idea, when the three of them were holed up for a few months writing the script after the writers' strike. "The testicles are in the script," Kurtzman said. "Well, it's a construction machine, so you of course have wrecking balls. And Michael, immediately, of course, loved it."

The interview then goes on to cover the challenges the writers had to endure just to make the script for the second installment of the Transformers movie franchise and shut down rumors that they may not be returning for the third film. Check out the complete interview by clicking here.

Oddly enough, when I saw them I first thought "I wonder if Hasbro will give us a Wrecking Ball constructicon?"

So they're not signed for TF3? Good. I hope they won't write it.

There is really an Interview about Devastator's Robo-Jewels? Devastator HAS Robo-Jewels? What's going on here? I mean, really. What the <bleep> is really going on here?

I wouldn't have minded the "testicles" joke as much if it wasn't the THIRD testicles joke they did in the film.

Its sad the one use for Devastator that successfully hit me was 'comic relief' in that I didn't know about and wasn't expecting giant balls dangling, so I laughed. Sure, I shook my head and buried my face in my hand momentarily, but it started off as a laugh.

Rodimus Prime wrote:So they're not signed for TF3? Good. I hope they won't write it.

Me too. A third and final installment of this needs to be something epic with the fat & farts cut away, and I don't think they have it in them to pull that off. What the last film needs is a quality writer that gives a great pace and doesn't sacrifice precious time to meandering schooldays humor. Don't get me wrong, I laughed at plenty of things like the rest of the crowd, but that's not what the last flick needs to be at all. Problem is, whoever it may be to write, they gotta get past Bay's ironfist, and what he'd do with that ironfist on screen..

I swear to god this is the tenth time this story has been in my RSS feed (and i only have this, TFlamb, io9, and Gizmodo that report on transformers). Can it go away now? they really dont say ANYTHING of interest. so Ehren made up the testiculator joke. did he make up the other five testicle joke/references too? does anyone actually care? really?

I gotta say, this was one of the worst moments of the film. Really, they could have given the movie some humor without it being so low-brow.

I still chuckled a bit, but mainly groaned when they were dangling and clanging together... lame.

I agree. I think I like their movies despite the scripts they write.

This movie could've been a LOT better without the excessive, unnecessary innuendo. I mean, sure the first movie have some potty humor, but this movie just went overboard.

This is just one of those rare occasions that proves that sometimes cleaner is better.

Remember, there is a difference between being funny and dirty.

I really hope they're not on for the 3rd one. Maybe if we get some real writers on board they'll have the "balls" to tell bay "your idea sucks we're not doing it" & we'll get a good movie. As for Devastators "balls of steel" i think it was unneeded. There was so much crude infantile humor in this movie it was retarded.

I'm sorry to say, but this actually represents the cleverest of the movie's bathroom-esque humor. It was so unnecessary at times.

Mr. Bay, keep making things explode. Subtle humor is what this movie needed, and it was in such short supply.

Devastator balls, along with the dog and Wheelie humping moments, just nearly ruined the entire damn film for me. If those kind of scenes were left out, or at least minimalized, this movie could have been way better.

The balls were on-screen for less than 10 seconds, the dog humping less than 15 seconds.

You mean that in the 9,000 second movie, that those 25 seconds or so (0.27%) almost ruined it?

Are we exaggerating or being serious here?

(I could have done without them as well, but the other 8,975 estimated seconds out-weighed it for me.)

I'm glad they'll be gone. The epic action scenes are Bay's doing, not the innuendo and outright sexual content. Hopefully we'll get some writers that actually know how to handle a good sci-fi epic with giant robots.

When I went to go see this movie, there was like 5 six year olds there. This was way innapropriate for them, the balls made it worse. I did think it was a little funny

Let's see, there was:
  • The dog on dog scene
  • Another dog on dog scene
  • close up of Simmons' butt as he yanks his pants off
  • Leo's pants dropping
  • Jetfire farting parachutes
  • Wheelie on Mikaela's leg
  • Mikaela on top of Leo
  • Said scene has him saying she's crushing his balls
  • Devastator's scrotum
Any others?

If a six year old boy doesn't know what balls are, I'd say there's trouble.

Did people who didn't like the writing in TF2 hate the writing in Star Trek? It was written by the same guys (Orci and Kurtzman) and I saw very few complaints about Star Trek's pacing or plot.

Star Trk did not have this much (if any at all) potty humor.

you know... I don't know what's sadder, the fact that people are not realising Bay did this on purpose to get a rise out of fanboys like the post "lubrication scene" did. Or the fact that this thread is mostly focused on a robot's "wrecking balls."

Star Trek also wasn't aimed at pre-teen boys. In the cinema I was in with my son, the potty humor went off like a firecracker. So rather than lack of talent, I would suggest that it was targeting a very specific audience.

As I mentioned in the poll thread - my six year old has the attention span of a mayfly with ADHD and he came out of the movie raving about it - wanted to get every toy we don't already have. Favorite characters? Prime, Bumblebee, Skids and Mudflap. As much as I like a sophistocated Transformers story, the only place we will get that is in the pre-AHM comics.

I didn't think it was a great movie, but I'm also not the target audience. It was enjoyable and I'm glad I saw it because damn if Michael Bay didn't blow up a lot of stuff.

Besides, it would almost be impossible to make a bigger movie on earth than this one. Transformers 3 has to have Unicron because that is the only way that Michael Bay can make a bigger movie than Transformers II.

Not true there is one character that is far more powerful, far more larger, far more evil than Unicron. He was made quite recently, actually. He's the primary antagonist in the Alternity fiction and is the most evil character of all Transformers fiction.

Hytherion is invisible! Kinda hard for Michale Bay to make an invisible villain more cinematically spectacular than a planet sized Transformer. Sure we are told that Hytherion is a bigger badass, but we haven't really seen any fiction to supports that. Given that Unicron destroys universes, the idea that hytherion is more badass reeks of hyperbole.

Compare the two hypothetical trailer scenes:

Unicron rips the moon in half.

Optimus Prime makes a speech about a dangerous invisible thing from the alternity dimension that is going to kick our butts.

Which do you think Michael Bay would go for?

  • The dog on dog scene - funny
  • Another dog on dog scene - funny
  • close up of Simmons' butt as he yanks his pants off - gross
  • Leo's pants dropping - it was necessary for him to tase himself, which was funny
  • Jetfire farting parachutes - dumb
  • Wheelie on Mikaela's leg - the worst
  • Mikaela on top of Leo - whatever
  • Said scene has him saying she's crushing his balls - so?
  • Devastator's scrotum - very dumb

  • The dog on dog scene - pointless
  • Another dog on dog scene - even worse
  • Sam's dad slapping his mom on the butt - perverted and out of character
  • Sam's mom mentioning Sam wanting to "pop his cherry" - humiliating
  • Every scene with Alice - unbearable and totally out of place
  • close up of Simmons' butt as he yanks his pants off - unexpected, therefore a little bit funny
  • Leo's pants dropping - worth it for him to taze himself
  • Leo tazing himself - hilarious
  • Jetfire farting parachutes - kind of funny
  • Wheelie on Mikaela's leg - make it stop!
  • Mikaela on top of Leo - pointless
  • Said scene has him saying she's crushing his balls - also pointless
  • Devastator's scrotum - I chuckled, but I knew it was coming

See, I lump all that testicular humor in with the mandatory midget joke and the upskirt Alice shot as Stuff That Guys Like and Women Don't Quite Get. (Seriously, what the hell is it with you guys and little people?!?)

What got funny to me wasn't all the nut-jokes, but the fact that there were so many--I was laughing less at the joke (because, other than John Turturro's most of them were pretty lame), than the fact that there was yet another testicle joke.

Freud would say that *someone* is overcompensating.

HK, not overcompensating.

Any scene where Leo injured himself was great.. The movie could have done without him. Any other scene was just fine, balls and all...

The 2 theaters I have seen this movie in had a fair share of youngsters , but the movie is rated PG-13... Not pg-6... Parents should know to expect some "potty humor" :?
