Movie title: "Sun Wu Kong Battles The Transformers"
Category: 3D, Fantasy & Si-fi
Team: Spielberg, Hollywood top tier production
Story: Sun Wu Kong and the Transformers bury the hatchet, together they fight against an alien invading force and eventually save the world
Interesting fact: back in the 80s', when TF was a big hit in China, some publishers made a lot of crossover comics based on Transformers and other famous cartoons (such as The Smurfs, Heman, ). There were... maybe more than 10 issues(?) of those were titled "Sun Wu Kong Battles The Transformers", by various publishers.
In those days, no one in China had any concept of copyright (I mean, it's much better now), so publishers were officially doing these unofficial "fan comics" a lot.
Quite some phenomonon back then... every child from the 80s' still remembers those today.
Having that said, most fans in China heard this news were either like "Excuse me? What???" or go into rage mode "Don't you ruin TF any further, Hasbro!".
I think it's awesome that Hasbro actually approved this idea.
From my personal source, this project has been, for months, under discussions between Hasbro and a bigger film distributor in China.
I assume it's maybe still nothing solid just yet. Who knows, Hasbro loves crossovers these days...
PS: I couldn't find mine in the moment, but you see...... Almost every 80s' kid had one.
