Both figures are in the Voyager class scale, and both align themselves with the Autobots. We're talking about Blaster, and the highly anticipated Grimlock! Blaster is a remold of the FOC Voyager Soundwave figure, and comes with his own original minion, Steeljaw! On the other hand, Grimlock is an original mold and looks to be as ferocious as ever! That Grimlock is pure sex, but you know what would be even better? The rest of the Dinobots that my G1 Redux shelf is woefully missing.

No contest really, FoC is my classics Grimlock. I hope we get voyager Sludge, deluxe Snarl, deluxe Slag and deluxe Swoop from them soon. If they don't they are just opening the doors to third parties. Honestly I would prefer the full team of Dinobots over a wreckers repaint of Bruticus.

Also, I'm glad there is some remolding on that voyager Blaster but on early impressions, I'm still not convinced on the mold.

I agree, that Grimlock is gonna be killer, but it looks like it transforms just like it did in the 80s. The head/neck flips back, the dinosaur legs become the robot arms, the dinosaur tail splits in two and becomes the robot legs. Not that original. Great detailing, and size mind you. Definitely knocks classics Grimlock out of the park. But they used this transformation in the 80s. And for animated Grimlock.
Just sayin...

Oh, and if Blaster turns into a vehicle with a little chair on top for someone to ride, why does he turn into a boom box once he finally makes it to Earth? lol...

thought that was funny...

All of the sudden I feel a targeting laser on my back...

God bless Matt Teiger and High Moon studios for making this Grimlock possible. Seeing this makes me laugh that Hasbro were going to retire the Dinobots. This is the best looking Grimlock since the G1 design (I'm including the Masterpiece under G1 design).

I don't understand what the problem is with using the design. If it works, it work. There's only so many ways you can transform a T-rex.

You mistake my intentions. I wasn't trying to bitch, I was just trying to point it out. And they had a pretty good transformation with the Classics mold IMHO, which was way different than the G1. Just sayin...

It's also how Grimlock transforms in game. High Moon kept the feel of Grimlock and his transformation in their new design and it works. Grimlock had one of the best designs of most of the G1 toys and seeing that they keep going back to it just proves it.

While it's true they changed it for classics, we got a weak looking Grimlock without any hips and he stands on his mouth. I never really cared for classics Grimlock.

Yeah...that's a spectacular Grimlock. I definitely gotta get my hands on one!

I just hope he doesn't suffer from massive amounts of Grey Plastic Syndrome. I like the heavy silver/gun metal used for the display Grimmy. I'm sure Takara will release him in that tone. Hasbro.......not a chance.

Make Snarl and Sludge next please.

I really like Blaster as well. If and when he EVER hits retail i'd scoop him up in a second. He'll look hilarious next to his giant G1 version. I bet he'll just make it past his knees.

Also.....if that's supposed to be Steeljaw (cringe) then that is a miserable attempt. Ya still can't beat G1 Steeljaw, or Ravage for that matter. Just sayin.

Hot dang! Finally, a version of the audio tank mold that I can justify! (I like Prime Soundwave and the GF Soundblaster I have fits with him so much better!

And Grimmy's nice too. I'll live with him and the Ani Dinobots if I must.

I'm a fan of Classics Grimlock, but FoC is dinosex incarnate.

The transformation does look like the original, but the head hides a little better, and the robot is bit more streamlined.

What was the brilliant decision to release him well AFTER the game comes out (next month)? Everyone had Grimlock fever way before the reveal, we knew it was coming anyway, it would sell like hotcakes. It still will sell well but kids lose interest quickly. I never did get why they release the stuff after popularity wanes to almost nil. Eh, I'll still buy a couple and it's probably the best yet after MP Grimmy.

This is sooo full of WIN!!!

I am now sold on this mold in the Blaster deco. It just seems to work a whole lot better! Bought on sight!

Aaaah our old friend Grimlock... #WINNING as a once great man once tweeted! ;)
His proportions are spot on with the CG reders we have seen. I love the way the Dino head is nicely tucked in to his back.
He just looks solid, as a big 'koff Dinosaur should be!!!

I wanna see how tall he towers over FoC Optimus,FoC Shockwave, and how big he is compared to Bruticus and Soundblaster. Then I will be the happiest of FoC fans.

And when Grimy sells a TON maybe Hastak will finally accept that the Dinos are popular, will sell and they should get off their lazy asses and make the other four just to shut me up....and make everyone else very happy.

Hello Grimlock! COME TO PAPA, YOU LIL DINO YOU! I waaaaaant. This is perhaps the best reveal of SDCC so far. The only question is, do I put him on the classics shelf or WFC/FoC shelf? He looks way cool but I need one Grimlock per shelf and I have a feeling the classics one will look funny with FoC toys. Although, next to the FoC deluxes, the classics version will look huge. :HEADHURTS:

Blaster: At first I was a bit peeved he's just a remold, but it's a pretty good remold. I appreciate that they made an effort to have his gun look like it should, and the chest piece is rather cool. I'm still torn on getting Soundwave because I have the WFC deluxe, but I'll definitely pick up Blaster. 3 versions of this mold already though? That's a bit excessive...

Starscream: Buy.

Ultra Magnus: Too blue, but buy.

Insectiwhatever: Unsure, maybe buy.

Sideswipe: Real cool bro. Better than Jazz. Might try to get another on clearance and do some part-swapping to jazz-up Jazz a little. He could use a black hip piece.

Fireflight/whateverthey'recallinghimnow: Probably buy but I'll wait for a sale because it's a repaint.

Crap. It's going to be an expensive year. Assuming we actually see any of these figures here, that is. Still haven't seen PRiD Wave 2... :BANG_HEAD:

But dang, SDCC is making me so happy. There's a lot to look forward to. :D

I think its simple because they cannot do 2 dozen repaints, really sad though a new Swoop or Slag would be great.

I'm still in awe at that Grimlock. I've said it a few times but I believe it to be true, if Hasbro don't make the other 4 Dinobots, they only have themselves to blame when a third party company makes them. If we have Grimlock, most fans will want the rest of the team.

if they just ship Grimlock, Blaster and the Sound-brothers in a case, it'd make my ordering easier. :P Am still happy with my MP Grim, but this one seems better scaled in robot mode at least, and the dino mode is pretty awesome. Blaster is a good retool/repaint of the decent looking Soundwave and I like all the little robobabies they have.

I was just about to order a device label Blaster for like 120.00 and then I see this. Think I'll be deleting the device label off my watch list and try to snag on of these, thank the fates I saw this first.
I like his look. I like how he doesnt have a magician's cape on (like the usb one.) and at least he comes with a gun , actually thats a big plus these days. I wonder will the Ejector and Rewinder fit in his hands.
Also, dumb question, but since he's voyager, does that mean he'll be Vector Prime size or maybe more like Prime Bulkhead? If he's too big it might look weird next to Drift, Perceptor etc. But if he's a little like Protector to City Commander size thatd be cool.
Anyway, Im excited, this is the only one from the FoC line Im interested in. My wrists are too old for video games so probably skipping the game this time, but I'm lovin that Blaster. The little shoulder things look like they could be folded back behind his shoulders? Thatd be cool.
Anywayz Im glad I saw this while I was window shopping, that makes it easier to pick up a magnus for my CC armor that came today and just wait for this release.
Look out and shout, ow! :BOT:

Grimlock's dino mode is dino-mite. I love it. His robot mode is amzing as well. I was really hoping they would make a grimlock based on foc and I'm glad they decided to go voyager size. I was worried that it may come out as a deluxe size, nice one hasbro.
On a side note, his head is game accurate, but I think classics grimlock's head looks more like the g1 cartoon. I may try for a head swap if it fits.

Anyways, he's bought on sight.

I'm curious about Soundwave and Blaster, though. Can they still pull off that fan-inspired boombox mode in this new voyager mold?
