In this week's challenge we will be exploring the evolution of Transformers. Over last thirty years or so, the Transformers brand has gone through quite a lot of changes. Those changes have been represented in the various TV series, movies, comic books and of course the many, many different toys. This is a brand and more importantly a toy-line that is continuously transformering (you knew it was coming) and re-inventing itself.
This is not just a G1 vs "X" challenge. You can use what inspired Transformers, RID2015, Combiner Wars or anything in-between. You can focus on series, transformation techniques, gimmicks or showcase a single character. Take your time, think about it; you've got two weeks, wow us! I'll throw out a couple keywords to try and help inspire: evolution, flux, begin again, renew, reformat.
This challenge will run from today 12/11/15 to 12/27/15, which is the Sunday after Christmas (just in case anyone gets some fun new toys they wanna share).
As usual, submission post please use TFPC #9 in the subject line. Non submitters, please feel free to join in on the conversation. Multiple submissions are always welcomed and encouraged!

It's amazing how much the figures have changed in both styles and transformation in just a few years. I present a couple of highly logical characters in a very illogical situation.
And if that wasn't crazy enough, I decided to take it a step farther.
And now I remember why this is only the second time BH Shockwave has been in tank mode. What he does with that none gun arm is, well... interesting.

FoC, cause I'm a sucker for that design aesthetic.william-james88 wrote:Question to Cary, which of those 3 shockwaves is your favourite?
Actually they each have their own strengths and weaknesses.
BH Shockwave is huge and just awesome looking in bot mode. Just a big scary looking killing machine. He is probably also the farthest away from the original design and his alt mode is really weak and just plain bad.
Mini me Shocky is a really great figure and not just for a legends, he is just a great figure. It pays a great tribute to his G1 self, is a fun figure to play with (as you can see with my whacky-ness) and has a very clever transformation. His only weakness is his size. Other than scaling with combiners for some fun pew pew action (I need to drag Menasor off the shelf and give that a whirl) he is only going scale well with other legend class figures. I guess mini Rodders has a playmate now.
FoC Shockwave strikes a nice middle ground between G1 and modern design for me. As a gamer, I'm immediately drawn to a figure based on a game, but he is a solid and fun figure in his own right. I love the pre-earth WfC/FoC look, all pointy and stuff. Even though it's a little small, his bot mode just works for me. Nice and posable, but I usually just leave him in a menacing stoic pose; watching, plotting, waiting. His alt mode is supposed to be some sort of flying craft, but really he is just a flying laser cannon, which really isn't that far from where he was in G1. Only problem I have with the figure is that he is a little too small and spindly.
BH Shockwave will just stay camped out looking spooky cool on my Prime shelf. Once the newness has worn off CW Shockwave, he will probably just end up in gun mode being wielded by another bot. But I will keep reaching for FoC Shockwave to play with. Nice and simple transformation, hits all the right notes, fun to pose and just screams evil genius. If only he was a voyager class.

You speak of him being pointy in alt mode, did you know that they sculpted his head? In the game, his head is sticking out of the back of the alt mode so their molded the top of his robot head. So he has visible fake head syndrome It's a pretty awesome detail though:

Hahaha, that is awesome. I didn't know if was because of the game, but I played with him a good bit during the last challenge and I did notice the fake head. It all makes sense now.william-james88 wrote:You speak of him being pointy in alt mode, did you know that they sculpted his head? Here's a little life.
Here is a little evolution that took about 33 years. Older than the Transformers name itself.
Took these last night for my own enjoyment not even thinking they fit this theme.

Nope. Something completely different. Something a little more fun. A bit of a game if you will. Stay posted, but probably not here, well maybe the first page.WreckerJack wrote:D-Maximus_Prime wrote:So when will our next challenge be? I'm ready to play
