Nice. I'm highly anticipating this guy. Should be a very nice change of pace aesthetics-wise.

I just hope they do another MP fan poll, but this time, featuring Decepticon leaders!

Heh, most of the cons that I wanted an MP of is mostly the non-leaders. MP LioKaiser would be dope, but that's stepping into combiner territory.

Makes you wonder though; Which con leader would most Japanese TF fans pick? I can't quite imagine them picking Megatron, so perhaps Galvatron? Gigatron is kinda too bizzare looking, and Scorponok's kinda meh. Maybe Overlord(if he qualifies as a leader alongside BlackZarak), Cybertron Megatron and Reverse Convoy. Or maybe they'll just pick Deathsaurus just to go with StarSaber.

This should be a great day for reveals; really looking forward to this guy.

Is this the result of that MP fan poll that featured all the Primes? Meaning no MP Armada Optimus?

I literally said 'OMG' out loud when I saw the prototype foot. I feel like this has been the best year for Japanese releases in a long, long time.

I would've laughed my butt off if that picture had been of the bottom of the foot.

Will be waiting in anticipation. MP-11 Starscream and Star Saber are the two Masterpieces I really want. Hopefully it won't be overwhelmingly awesome that it will make me want Star Saber more than Starscream...

You understand that this project was separate from the actual Masterpiece line, so that it wouldn't interfere with the potential work on those that you named... right? And Star Saber has a buttload of popularity in Japan, so them getting an MP Star Saber is just as important as us getting an MP Optimus Prime.

Cool yer jets, buddy. We'll get those characters in due time.

Actually his reflection on that print shows he is huge, his second leg shows on that reflection but can't fit on that print

It's even being worked on by its own designer who is a different person from the main MP designer, and this guy working on Star Saber is perfect for the job since he specializes on designing robots of the same variety as Star Saber.

BTW, Star Saber is a G1 commander. Largely considered the "greatest" one in Japan.

Despite designer Hisashi Yuki's request via Twitter and a prominent no photography sign, we have a first glimpse at Masterpiece Star Saber in prototype form from Tokyo Toy Show, happening right now. The image shows Star Saber in his super robot form in a glass display case. Whether we'll see anything more of the figure from this event is unknown, but if one photo got out, more will likely follow!

And here's the moment so many of you have been waiting for, our first glimpse at the Masterpiece Fan's Choice winner Star Saber! The prototype has been revealed at the Tokyo Toy Show. The prototype is behind glass and it appears pictures are prohibited, but someone still managed to snap a quick image. Check out the image mirrored below courtesy of Weibo user 北马伊斯力.

Wonder if any requests will come in to have this pic taken down since TakaraTomy had ordered no photography of this thing.

Oh, yeah, the size thing...He WILL scale well with Classics, I guess. Maybe it's partly because this begs for a Victory Leo to combine with someday, and they couldn't justify making that toy any bigger than this. Really makes me glad Fort Max didn't win; even for a Marvel loyalist like myself, a Masterpiece Max this size would be sort of a letdown.

What makes you guys think that he's that much smaller than Ultra Magnus? The angle of the picture makes it difficult to tell. It looks like the photographer was holding the camera up on the same level with Magnus but quickly tilted the camera down to snap the photograph of Star Saber (hence why there is only 1 pic). It might be smaller than Magnus but I'd be surprised if he was smaller than the Seeker or Soundwave mold.

In this pic, Star Saber looks very comparable in size to Ultra Magnus.

He probably looked shorter than he's supposed to be because:

a) perspective; &
b) he's much better proportioned and has slimmer legs compared to UM.

I just got a message from Professor Smooth on Facebook. He was at the show earlier, saw Star Saber in person, and said that Star Saber and Ultra Magnus are "Very similar in size".

That's the second time I've said OMG about Star Saber.

I was thinking he might be short so he can combine with Victory Leo, but that theory is shot. Still, even if he doesn't combine, this figure is going to be amazing.

That still doesn't sound good to me since Star Saber was not an average-sized dude. He's huge.

I'm not asking for a five-foot tall figure (that'd be ridiculous). But I was kinda hoping he'd be at least around Armada Unicron's height.

Sweet camera trickery, Batman! Wow that first pic was deceptive. I know angle, perspective and whatnot can be deceiving but after looking and looking it had me fooled! I really thought he was smaller

maybe i dont care cause i have no personal attachment to this character, but theres a bright side for those who do: giant bot = giant price. ya'll can at least be happy he wont cost an arm and a leg right?

I'd like to hear some details on him though, such as if he will have a fully-functional Brainmaster gimmick or saber that can be sheathed.
