That is some really nice boxart. All of the UW sets have had great artwork

*Sobs Uncontrollably* Why Takara? Why do you make so many beautiful things that are so expensive? On a side note, do you guys think I should get this? I already have CW Bruticus, but I love the Decepticon Commandos..Any ideas?

I'm really tempted but it's so much money on molds I already have. I just got Liokeiser and I pre-ordered Megatronia so I'm pretty good on Decepticon combiners for now.

My thoughts exactly. I really think this set looks good, but I'm not too keen on buying it for the exact reasons you listed. I hope TT does more UW sets though as I'll certainly remain interested and will buy what I like, but coming after Computron and MP Thrust and Soundwave's reissue, and before Megatronia, I decided to sit Baldigus out for the cost.

Forgive me if this has already been addressed, but there hasn't been any info on the fiction for this set yet, right? So, we don't know any teaser info for who or what would possibly be coming next at this time, do we?

Me too, but I think that's asking for a whole lot, as it would require new molds. I know UW has produced new molds, and modified existant ones a whole lot, but this would be asking them to develop a two-deluxe torso, and that's a lot of design and development. I'd love to see it too, but I think it may be asking a little too much.

Yep I agree. To be honest, I'd even take a UW Liokaiser with Leozack as the torso in the Silverbolt mold. But a few folks here have theorized that TT would unlikely make that sort of move. I do find it ironic that it's Hasbro that would first release a character based on Japanese G1 material, and not TT. My only hope that TT will eventually do it.

The irony goes both ways. Takara has been going all out on making some fo their toys as IDW specific as possible, like Legends Ultra Magnus and Skids, which is odd since the comics staring them arent even translated yet.

But I dont really think there is as much irony with Hasbro. They had the molds and wondered what other thing they could do to get the mileage out of them. And since Liokaiser had never been released by them (same with G2 Motormaster), they thought it would be a fun and easy way to repackage the molds.

A couple things I want to note:

1) The English title is... odd. But it does show he's independent of either Autobot or Decepticon. "Evil Destronger" refers to the original faction of Car Robots, which became the RiD Predacons, while "Combatron" is the proper sub-group, aka Commandos. While "Combatron" is the Japanese name for the Combaticons, the name was never used as in English, so there's no real overlap.
2) The English title is completely made up, as he retains his original title as "Combat Specialist" in Japanese.
3) The boxart shows an army base, a call back to the place of their birth in the Car Robots anime.

I wish I could walk into a TJ Maxx and find this for 40 bucks, but much as I want it, I'm not paying import prices for something I essentially already have.

I would've been happy if they just redecoed the Silverbolt mold as Leozack and added two ports to attach the Blackjack mold as Jallguar.

Actually I find this a much more likely possibility than Takara developing a 2 deluxe torso.

The comic for Baldigus may provide teasers like Lynx Master's and Megatonia's have done.

Fellow Seibertronians Black Hat and Cyberpath have pointed us towards the Takara Tomy Mall website, where the new Unite Warriors comic has been posted - featuring the continuation of the Unite Warriors storyline, by Hayato Sakamoto, and the arrival of Baldigus! We've downloaded, exported and mirrored the comic as images below (though obviously still in Japanese), for your viewing convenience, check it out!

Unicron's really in the business of Combiners now, isn't he? First Grand Galvatron, then the Megascream combiner in Deviations, and now he's upgrading Baldigus. Didn't quite think it was his thing.

No silhouettes at the end or anything. Unless there's something in the text it looks like Baldigus might just be the last Unite Warriors release.
