There's also something about the Perfect Effect aesthetic that just isn't very G1 to me: the figures seem like they're just bristling with munitions. That's not a bad thing in itself; the figures are quite good looking. But it doesn't fit with the G1 vibe.
This TFC set is consistent with the Classic (and derivatives) notion of reimagining G1 characters in more modern alternate forms. Though, I would like to see some transforming accessories for the TFC set: ideally both a flash and a lens.

However, right now, I'm liking the Perfect Effect version a little more. But it's also hard to compare without having BOTH products on hand.
Can't wait to see how TFC pulls this off. Looks very promising so far!

My personal impression is that the near identical robot modes of Perfect Effect's set make them a good Classics set, while the very realistic camera mode and the ability to attach real accessories (if earlier prototype images are to be believed) of TFC's set puts them in line with the Device Label style of figures.

I'd have to agree with that, Device Label is a good call.
I like the detail in the camera mode for the TFC version, I hope it translates into plastic well. But having said that, the PerfectEffect one will do for me, as I feel it is a better representation of G1 Reflector. Both projects look great though, I think it just depends on your aesthetic preferences.

Why do people keep mistaking Perfect Effect for Fansproject.

I already have the PE one on preorder, but this one is very tempting. Wish we had soem size comparisons and a price estimate, though.

the alt mode will be life size as it is able to use an actual camera lense. looking at his legs you can see where the lense dock is split, those are usually are approximately 2 inches across so i would place the whole figure at around 5-6 inches, slightly shorter for the other two.

Same here. This one looks awesome, but I feel my PE version will go better with my collection.

Kibble, leave iGear out of this. If you are referring to 3rd party items that are similar but not the same, like the awful arcee that Impossible Toys put out and the arcee that iGear sold but did not create (but is still a way better arcee regardless of manufacturer) then I don't see a problem. In that situation a far superior product was made available to the public. If you are referring to the autoscout, nobody cares because the rest of the TF Club set is the reason they bought it. Your comment is trolling. Obviously. Certainly ruffled my feathers.
Back ON TOPIC!
In regards to the comments suggesting this will be a working camera, I don't remember reading that anywhere, the camera appears to accept real lenses but not all manufacturers (your nikons, canons, etc) make lenses that have the same docking ports (because they want you to by their brand exclusively). Furthermore, the transformation of Viewfinder, would not allow a camea to function in the way an SLR would.

Settle down, chief. It was a joke with a relevant point...and it obviously went over your head. The point is TFC sure has a lot of projects in the works, but we're still waiting for most of them to actually see release. How about rather than them just talking about all 763 projects they focus on actually getting some of them out? And I hope I don't have to explain the iGear part of the joke now...
Now go outside and have a smoke or whatever you need to do to calm down and I'll be here when you get back to listen to your apology.

Those aren't all TFC projects, the only stuff they're working on at the moment is the Devastator, this and those tank guys. The rest are other people's sets which they distribute but do not invest time and effort into producing and designing.
I-Gear has far more projects it has announced and still hasn't produced till today, it took them 1 year to release their first product, a year in which they announced around 15 things, half of which still haven't been made.

These guys are catching up though. Yes it is only three projects, but each project has at least 3 separate transformers. I don't think we have yet to see one complete yet either, unless Hook and Scavenger are supposedly finished.

They need to get a product out that doesn't suck.
The Targetroids and headmaster heads are lame.
They also need to make sure Devastator pieces don't average $90 a pop.
