Also please, please don't be a straight up repack of an earlier version. It probably is though.
To be fair, I'm sure there's got to be a segment of folks that drove demand for this. Anyone here that still hasn't picked this up over its history of plentiful global releases from Hasbro and Takara, where this release is the one where you're thinking "at last, I will buy that"? Note that I'm not talking about repaints either. The Hasbro one had the TRU run and I think two Hasbro Asia runs, and Takara's fifth or sixth run of MP-10 came out early this year/late last year iirc.

There are always new collectors who weren't around for the prior releases.

It was a dumb statement, you're right to be confusedDeadCaL wrote:So was the original 'not' in G1 colours? I'm confused.
Both are indeed in "G1 colors", just slightly different. They're identical aside from the shade of blue used, the eyes, and the lights on top of the cab. Many people think the lighter blue is more accurate, but the dark blue is actually closer to what he looked like in the show.

Anyone know what I can do for the dead-looking eyes on the figure? I'm currently negotiating a price to purchase the Takara MP-10 from a fellow Seibertronian and want to see if I can get the necessary tools to make the adjustment so I can bring Prime's eyes to life.
Let me know with any solutions?

Thanks!

TRANSFORMERS Masterpiece Optimus Prime (MP10) from Hasbro
This TRANSFORMERS Masterpiece Optimus Prime collectible figure will definitely be a favorite among TRANSFORMERS enthusiasts at this year’s show. The figure is an MP10 variant and the perfect Masterpiece figure for any fan to start their collection! The figure features a unique color variant inspired by the original TRANSFORMERS: GENERATION 1 animated series. Featuring a high level of detail and intricate articulation with poseable fingers, the figure stands at 9.5 inches when in robot mode and converts between robot and truck modes in 24 steps. The Masterpiece Optimus Prime comes with numerous classic Optimus Prime accessories including the Spike Witwicky figure, Orange Energy Axe, Matrix of Leadership, Ion Blaster Rifle and Roller Unit. The Matrix of Leadership accessory is comprised of mostly die cast metal and a blue, gem-like center which can be carried in the figure’s chest. Fans can fold the Ion blaster Rifle in half and store it in the figure’s back. The Masterpiece Optimus Prime figure also comes with a trailer that converts into a battle station and a repair bay. Rubber tires are also included.
While no stock photography was available from Toys R Us of Optimus Prime in-package as of this post, we do have an image of the package which we reported on early last month.

I could care less about the box. I saved $30 bucks on Takara MP Thundercracker with a banged up box. I started collecting MP late in the game and the only reason it was still available was because of all the picky mint box collectors lol. Thanks guys.

I just paid for a MP Ramjet with a dinged up box! He's sure as hell not staying in the box either.
I also paid for a MP Dirge, but that's through Premium Collectables so the chances of it even arriving, let alone in mint condition, are pretty remote. Fuck you PC.

So let me get this straight....
Youll buy the exact same toy to get a box variant, but you dont care if the box is damaged?
You hinted you were a box completionest on the Black Convoy reissue takara thread...

Yes, I collect box variants. If it's new, I'll open it gauranteed. If its simply a box variant, I might still open it if I want to display a second one for any reason.
Yes I care if the box is damaged, BUT it's not the end of the world if it is. The way I am with my MP collection is, I need the box and it needs to be complete, and if I had to put a number on it, it'd have to be 7/10 condition.
All that said, I'm not buying Dirge to keep MISB. This hasbro MP-10? I'll likely be leaving sealed. I don't currently see a reason to open it. So yeah, I'll try to get a mint box. But I will take whatever I can get.

Regular mass retail release.... in the sense that all the other TRU MP's are. So he could prove quite tricky to find. Gotcha. I might watch the SDCC stuff, see how quickly he's selling. If I pass on my SDCC chance, I'll probably go for him if I find him in any of the local TRUs.

Another fun tidbit is that Hasbro keeps the original Takara numbering of MP-10 and while that could have worked with their own reset (with MP-01 being Acid Storm), the previous release in this Hasbo MP line was Bumblebee at MP-08. Might there have been an additional MP release planned between Bumblebee and Optimus, sporting the MP-09 numbering? Feel free to speculate.
If you want a quick refresher on what MP-10 has to offer, please check this recent ad from Hasbro starring Seibertron's own podcasting star XRotorstormX.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. I purchased Asia reissue of MP-10 about 1.5 years ago, and it's my only copy of MP-10. As previously discussed, the packaging for that reissue is terrible. If I had known they would reissue MP-10 in the US, and if I can pay approximately the same price as I did for the reissue (lotta IF's), I would have waited for this reissue. If nothing else, I would get a nicer box. The only boxes I keep are MPs and box sets.
