First we got our three-pack, which includes the highlight of the set, Stinger.
Then we got our six Legends figures, which include Stinger.
Then we got our two-packs with Dinobots and Legends, featuring Stinger.
And then comes our Construct-Bots Strafe set, which has Stinger.
We feel these Walmart sets will offer a new experience (and did we mention Stinger?).

FWIW, I noticed a couple of QC faults with the Classics mold. The side panel in truck mode that flips down over the leg in robot mode has part of it painted red to match the cab. Mine was missing paint around the edges of the right side panel, so the blue showed through glaringly. Also, the left knee pad has a smudge in the silver paint. Lastly, the right shoulder is loose in the forward/backward rotation.
The only one of these issues that can be seen in in the box is the knee pad smudge, I don't think you can see the red face of that side panel in robot mode, but a little paint will fix that.

Proportions are really strange on this one. I ordered one off HLJ a while back, but now I think I'll cancel. Too bad, the Prime figure looks really good!

Slug will be available separately later. The only exclusive is that Silver Knight Optimus one.

Actually, if you figure that the One-Step changers are around $9-10 each, and you're also getting Slug before his individual release, PLUS an exclusive Silver Knight Optimus figure, it's a deal. Individually, they'd be around $54-60 total, plus there's the exclusive figure.

Hooray, the OP repaint/remold everyone wanted in a likely cost-prohibitive set that no one will buy!
That said, these decos look really great compared to the originals. If I was collecting AoE and was lucky enough to have NOT already picked these characters up, this would be a must-buy.

Not really my problem because as usual, TrU hate Québec.
As I was seeing these pictures, I was "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing" at the incredible insight they had to bother painting the damn rear-lights! Appart that, not much differences to justify paying a premium.
Well, appart that Hound who is now totally Movie Bulkhead!

But semi-completeist that I am, I'm still interested in getting at least one representation of each deluxe/voyager/leader(possibly) mold. The Autobots Unite and Dinobots Unleashed 5-packs seem like a great start, but what else should I wait for before I start hunting individual figures? Are there any planned repaints of Snarl/Slash? Do Lockdown and Galvatron only exist on their own? Are the Leader versions of Optimus/Grimlock worth the price/space?
It seems the Autobots are getting preferential treatment with all the releases. The Breakout Battle is another to look out for, as it has the "rusty" Prime as seen in the movie. So far, Lockdown and Galvatron are on their own without any repaints, and with none announced that'll remain the case. The Leader versions are worth looking into at the very least, but avoid the First Edition! Keep in mind that Optimus Prime will get show-accurate retooling done by TakaraTomy, and that both are available in a 2-pack, with Grimlock in black.

As for TRU, we do know that TRU Canada is getting it, but no one word yet on TRU USA.

Thanks for the tips. I do like that black Grimlock and rusty Prime looks like a nice change from his normal -- and over-represented -- color scheme. It's unfortunate that Snarl/Slash didn't make the Platinum cut.

I still havent picked up any of the new movie figures, just dont feel the urge as Ive been concentrating on my Classics stuff, although these new shots of the Premium set do look amazing..
..but this shot makes the Deluxe alt modes look huge; Voyager alt modes look tiny?

Why haven't we seen any images of Legends Hound and Lockdown? The guy in the video made it sound like they were supposed to be out in stores now, but we haven't even had any official confirmation beyond that video.

Only things that kinda bugged me are how much lighter Hound is (which I can live with, since they gave him actual camo paint this time) and Optimus's black gun (I preferred it gray so it could double as DOTM Megatron's shotgun), but other than that pretty much upgrades all around. Will definitely pick this up.
Do we still not know a price for the US?

People make errors, you know? Even those working for Hasbro. Besides, don't count on them making new molds as all Legends are repaints of previous lines.

The Drift mold actually works REALLY well as Bludgeon.

Why is the Autobots United and Dinobots Unleased packs so expensive? If you buy them seperately it would cost about 87$. But robotkingdom is asking for 150$. And the shipping costs are probably going to be 30$ or more. It's a lot of money to cough up...
Is there going to be a US release with a more realistic price?
If not is there a store that will get these in stock in the USA so I don't have to pay a high price for shipping?
I really wanted the Rusty Evasion mode Optimus Prime, Nemesis Prime and Nemesis Grimlock... oh and also that blue repaint of Crankcase. But these are only available in Japan and are all sold out now... will they release a version in the USA?

Allow me:
The super special editions you are talking about are just that: Super Special Editions. They are limited release repaints with more paint aps and once again, limited release. That's why they are so expensive. If you are new to Transformers, you better get used to this TF trope. A 10$ toy can go BOOM 100$ just because it have a new paint job and is a collector/botcon/platinum/promo/ect.
So, the only reasons to buy such repaints are these:
- You have money to spare.
- You love that mold (meaning the base toy).
- You love the character.
- You like the idea of having something a bit more special and rarer than the usual and normal store release.
If all 4 are a YES! then go for it. Buy your collector item. You wont regret it.
One "no", and you risk having buyer remorse.
2 "no" and above, avoid that toy. That is a purchase you are sure to regret. Wait for something else that you will love for real.
I hope this helped and welcome to the wonderful (and expensive) world of Transformers Toys Collecting!

Limited release you say? Bummer, and here I thought we were getting those premium repaints we did from the first movie. Those didn't cost that much extra and it wasn't hard to get one. Already shelled out the cash for the Platinum leader Optimus and Grimlock based on your reply. Debating on the 5 packs still... I think at the most I may get the Dinobots one. The packaging artwork looks awesome and I dig the paint jobs. The autobots united looks amazing as well but I love the dinobots more so it's a tough decision.

They'll be limited, but only insofar as being a store exclusive - perhaps Toys R Us or Target.
Also, because these are meant for the US market (I think) they're going to be more expensive on Robot Kingdom. If you hold out for a retail sighting, you will probably get it for slightly cheaper. Those sets are going to drop in November, and by then we should know a bit more. Save your coupons!

To address the questions about the looseness questions.
The part the airfoil attaches to has super loose hinges.
The shoulder swivels are a little loose but tolerable.
Rear tire pins are not sunk in all the way on the one leg making them seem loose.
This is no where near as loose as a KO.
Other comments:
Paint in person is awesome. Chrome apps are great.
I think the gun/smokestacks are black because of the gun mode.
Why the fists are black I don't know.
Although not cartoon accurate the yellow eyes (like the classic toy) stand out better than the first classic primes blue eyes.
The airfoil doesn't look good as a weapon due to its solid red coloring.
p.s. AOE prime doesn't have a faceplate.
