We have been working diligently to get a replacement store online for you. This is still in progress. However, we are ANTICIPATING that a temporary solution will be available later today. This is a totallly new website, with totally new software, at a totallly new provider. This commercial software has hundreds of stores and is fully PCI and PCI DSS complient. Their facility has been described to me as a military grade security facility.
Do not go to the old store site. I will provide you with the new url for this system in a later email and we will change the links at that time.
In addition, we have figured out a way to extend this month's deadline for a few days (because of the new software). We are extending the deadliine date to Wednesday, March 21st, at 5pm central time in order for all of the mail that is enroute to arrive.
However, this will effect EVERYONE'S monthly magazine. The April issues will be approximately 7-10 days late.
Also, we will not be able to reinburse anyone who spent money on expediting renewals to us.
We again apologize to everyone for all of the issues we have been having. We think that you will be very pleased with the new features this store will offer you.

There's an M in there guys... Thanks again for the extra $12 Fedex charge FOR NOTHING YOU DICKS!
I'm embarrassed to admit I renewed after the epic FAILURE of Overrun, which I got and is the only reason I renewed.
Never again.

Risk vs Reward. IF the club toys next year are worth getting, I'll be shopping at BBTS and Ebay. After the cost of the "Club" membership and the risks of some sort of inevitable failure, it will balance out.

TFCC...fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ME!
I'll take my chances on the secondary market regarding any future figure promotions. Sorry Savage, you screwed the pooch on allowing this situation to play out the way it did in the first place. Too little too late with just a dab of sugar. The way I see it...we members of the Seibertron forums ARE ALREADY the collectors club.

That's right! And every member gets a free figure used in one of he EPIC galleries!
I would pay a $1000 a year for membership (I want the Grand Max though)

Absolutely - I wouldn't have jumped through so many hoops already had I known what an exercise in frustration this whole enterprise has been., and that I could have ordered the from a REPUTABLE source...
Why am I not surprised they aren't doing dick to make up for any of the extra expenditure people went through to get their renewal in on time, then, on the day renewal is supposed to fall they 'suddenly' decide to extend the deadline, and, hey, they 'might' open their new payment portal 'temporarily' to allow some to renew after the FUBAR situation of the last few weeks? Aren't we lucky?!?
For shame, FunPub, for shame!
Put something extra on top, get us back on your side, or at least try to!!!
Sticking a G2 Ramjet (extra shipping free), or something else that you've got clogging your shelves, in with the member exclusive, would go further than you've done lately....
Would it be sooo terrible getting something for free after our treatment?

I'm not defending FunPub here but let's be realistic, they're not a large company, I doubt they have huge cash reserves, we have no idea how much money they've had to outlay for this new system.
They rely on a very small niche customer base. They fucked up, they're working to fix things. Give them a chance, they may be surprise you, but if they don't, put yourselves in their shoes for a bit.
After all, I doubt any of us will be renewing with FunPub next year.

Good luck to you man. Hopefully this isn't a trend where it gets steadily worse every year.
::Cue movie trailer voice:: Next time on FunPub Blunders.....Pete Sinclair makes the biggest mistake ever and sends all the members personal information to a man who said he would keep it....but never use it!

He didn't personally cause anyone harm and I highly doubt that he has any personal culpability in all this. They got more screwed in all this than any member did.
He seems to be the fall guy though. I don't have anything against him, but the club as a whole is a wash for me. It's not worth it for the hassle. They should want people to join because it offers something special, not just free toys.
It's like someone you want to like you tells you they'll be your friend if you give em some money. Well a lot of people did just that and they got burned. It's gonna leave a scar.
I still believe Hasbro should drop the club and go back to Robot Points and offer special deals like in G1. It was so much simpler. There are so many fan sites now anyway and the official club site doesn't draw a crowd until they are about to be the ones offering exclusive sneak pics like they did with Classics Sunsteaker. All official first time pics should go through the club first, but that doesn't happen. What are the benefits? A couple of toys that if you camp out near your computer you may get. A small savings if you attend Botcon. The magazine is hardly that, you'd think it'd be more than the size of a comic book, especially if it takes 2 months to get a new issue.
Maybe my expectations are too high
I give them credit for upgrading their system, but I have a feeling Hasbro chewed them out and they responded to them more than the members.

im glad i can say i have a couple of exclusive but from now on ill think ill wait for ebay ,all that shit is not worth it for a repaint/retool for that price they should be putting out a new mould
i honestly cant think of any figure that would make me think twice about next year
the comics shit aswell we should be gettin full comics not 3 pages whatever it is .

This wasn't like what happened with PSN. The part Sony doesn't talk about is they laid off a sizable chunk of their credit department less than a month before their "breach" happened. Fun Pub's system was assaulted from the outside. They're doing what they can to fix this. Offering people a free years membership has been suggested by fans over and over. So the solution is for them to not have an income for a year? That would just kill them faster than the people not renewing at all would. Free figures? Where the hell are they supposed to get them? People keep associating them closely with Hasbro but the Club is just a tiny company that can get their voice heard and considered by them. Fun fact: the Club pays Hasbro for the figures, the pages of comic, the right to just exist. In the end, we all know that to Hasbro we are an afterthought. They make toys for children. The Club is a way they tally our numbers and factor us in. Not renewing with the Club in large number will just make Hasbro think they lost the collectors market and in two or three years all they'll make is Rescue Heroes and other toddler level lines. Because we won't count anymore.
Posted by GetRightRobot on March 16th, 2012 @ 8:49pm CDT
When a company fails as completely as Fun Pub has (EVERYTHING this year has been riddled with problems, poor decisions, and terrible P.R.) it's supposed to sink. That's how capitalism works, or at least it used to. Continuing to cater to a less than ideal business is not healthy. IF Fun Pub would go under, another company/ies would quickly jockey for their license. Might be better, might be worse.

No way. none of that is true. The conventions popping up all over the world that are not run by Fun Pub seem to be just as creative, bring in massive dough, feature spectacular guests, offer unique exclusives that don't cost a fortune, and are getting more known and have attendance on the rise.
Fun Pub ceasing to exist wouldn't kill the toy line, fandom or a collector's market.
The fans make this hobby what it is, Hasbro supplies the plastic and Fun Pub offers only one of many outlets.
I won't be beholden to a thought that not joining and buying into, as you put it "a tiny company", that my thoughts and desires, as well as all the other fans, won't be heard and resonate through to Hasbro\TomyTakara.

It existed before the formation of an "official" (aka you pay to be part of the cool kids club) club, and i'm fairly certain it will continue to exist without it.
Really, what has FunPub done for the "fandom" in the last six years? Sites like Seibertron.com and TFW have done far more for the collectors than that little club ever will. So i'm with Discharge, not having FunPub around won't make a difference.
I'm sure Hasbro would find a way to run BotCon without them.
Posted by Rated X on March 17th, 2012 @ 2:27am CDT
Although I support Funpub on this issue, I condemn their decision on 3rd party toys at Botcon. But I do have a feeling it has more to do with Hasbro than it does with Funpub.

Hello and thanks for your patience. We have come a long way since we turned off the stores approximately two weeks ago.
For those of you who are interested in the ongoing investigation, our original server has been taken offline and will be undergoing an investigation over the coming days. The current server online is a clone of the original with all of the critical data removed. If we find a reasonable cause for the security issue, we will let you know.
We have decided to change our store and forum software. It has been many tedious hours converting the existing data to work with our new store. All the membership data is loaded in the store. The forum will be brought online at a later date.
With our new store software, we have figured out a way to extend the deadline a few days. This means that everyone’s April magazine will run 7-10 days late. Our new cutoff date and time is Wednesday March 21, 2012 at 5pm Central Time.
The store has been brought online before its completion to allow renewals and new memberships. All of the features are not implemented at this time. We apologize for the length of this email but there is a lot of new information that affects all members.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THROUGH THIS THOROUGHLY BEFORE YOU TAKE ANY ACTION. Here are the parameters for the new store:
1. Each membership must have its own UNIQUE email account.
2. Your store log in is the email address that this message came to. Your password is the same as the one you have been using at the former club store and forum. If you have forgotten your password, you can use the “remember me” function. It only sends your password to your email account; it does not send your login.
3. If you have a change of address, until further notice, please call our office or send an email to admin2@funpubinc.com or admin@funpubinc.com. We are running two systems in parallel until we are satisfied that the data is identical. Please email Customer Service as much as possible as the more they are on the phone, the less time they have to respond to your needs. Customer Service is available from 9:30-4:30 Central Time weekdays.
4. In order to bring this system online, we have not separated the Transformers and G.I. Joe Clubs into their individual online stores. At this time, both TF and Joe Club members will use the same storefront to place your renewals or new memberships.
5. Please look at the bottom of this email. It has your renewal date. If your date is prior to March 16, 2012, you will need to create a NEW account in the store, as we did not transfer your data. If your date is after March 16, 2012, you don’t need to do anything at this time.
Please let only those who need a membership renewal or new membership use the store for now. In a couple of weeks, we will have everyone start checking their account(s).
6. Please note that if you had multiple memberships in your name; multiple memberships that all came to a single email address; or a membership in each club, we had to replace all but one of your email addresses with a dummy address. The new store requires unique email addresses for each membership. Your email and password will only work for one account. You will need to contact Customer Service to look up your other logins (dummy emails). This will enable you to change the login and modify your accounts if you want to have multiple accounts or accounts in both clubs.
7. When you renew or signup for a new account, you need to select your free figure choice. The selection choices are found on the signup page (Transformers members please select the “none” option. G.I. Joe members, please select 12” or 3 ¾”.
8. Please note that this store is a commercial package that has hundreds of merchants working with the same store software. It has features that will be new to us, but until we have some custom programming done, there are a few features that are missing from our old software. This is a totally different service provider and data storage facility than we have used in the past. One of the features this software has is to automatically renew your membership without you doing anything (provided you have a valid credit card on file). If you don’t want your credit information on file (the CVV2 code is never saved after the transaction), you can log in under the “My Account” feature and delete your card on file. In order to make future purchases or renewals, you will have to come back to the store and enter your information.
9. The URL for the new store is https://toyarama.com/store. At a future date, we will split the stores back into an individual store for both the Transformers and G.I. Joe Collectors’ Clubs.
10. As an additional security measure, please change your password when you log into your membership account. Do not use any password that you use with other stores or financial institutions.
We apologize for any inconvenience that the prior security issue has caused. On a side note, we are anticipating that the event registration software will be back online around the end of the month. If you have any questions, please use the email links at the bottom of all of our web pages and we will provide you with a prompt answer.
Thanks for your support,
Fun Publications Staff

As for the club, if they were smart, they would stop treating the members like ass, they'd give us something, anything for free or at the very least a discount.
It cost me over 40 dollars to renew on time beyond the standard amount and they have the nerve to say they will not be compensating me for it. I've been a supporter of them since day one and this is how I am treated.
I get my credit card infor stolen from 2 different cards, I have to pay 100 bucks to renew this year because of their mistake.
I get access to a pretty shitty website a lousy magazine I get almost 2 months late every time.
Explain to me why we should feel any sympathy at all for these douchebags.

This is one of the last emails that will come out of our old member system. Your membership end date at the bottom of this email may/may not be correct as we have stopped updating the old online system. However, if your end date is before today and you have not renewed, you need to go to our new store, click on the membership of your choice and check out. Your information has not been ported over to the new system. If you know someone who has never had a membership (paid), their process is the same.
If your end date is in the future, please don't do anything today. Next week we will send out an email instructing you how to check your membership and what the different functions mean on the new site.
We do plan to split the stores back into Transformers and G.I. Joe individual clubs in the next several weeks when we start putting product in the new stores.
Please note that if you have a membership in each club or multiple memberships, you will need to contact customer support about how to update your additional accounts. Again, if your end date is in the future, please wait until next week to contact customer support. This will help us get through today's deadline which is 5 pm CDT.

As much as I was annoyed with the whole Credit Card fiasco, I'll at least give them credit on this one since they've could've made SG Drift the freebie and charged for both Runamuck and Over-Run which would've been worse.
