I have been playing Legends for about a month or so now. I have finished all of the missions, gotten all cards from all the missions, and I have a full collection of MTM Rares(the 3s). I now have no reason to play the campaign outside an event besides leveling myself up.
The first event I played was the Megatron prize. Up until this last event I refused to spend money on it. The best points reward I ever got without spending money was a character card and a weapon card. I usually end up just under the 5000 mark on the leaderboards this way, and in earlier events I think the rewards came at lower tiers.
This week I decided to spend some money to see how much it helped. I spend $30 or so on Battle Cube recharges and the event Space Bridge. I ended up with all 3 Airalbots, 1 of them Transcanned and 2 out of the 3 weapons, increasing my deck strength from about 8000 to 11000. I did much better against bosses solo in the first few days, and against bosses in general. And even with all that, I fell short of the rank I normally get without spending money! I have maybe 6 or so Super Rares (4s) with no weapon or Alt mode, rendering them mostly useless, even at max level. I pull a super rare out of the Space Bridge once every MAYBE 400 cards, and the events are they only way to get a lot of Space Bridge draws.
My point here is to give others a heads up. The guy who won this last event got 170 Million points. I think I capped out around 1.5Mil, and ended up in 6000th place. To do well in this game and get worthwhile prizes (At least a card, alt mode and weapon) you have to spend ALOT of money. If you consider I spent $30 and got 1.5Mil, that means the #1 guy must have spent almost $1000 easy!
This has been my experience with the game, and while I apologize if it is lengthy, I hope it helps for people who are considering starting to spend some money on the game.

doesn't matter the WIFI connection I have 11 gigs free on my TOUCH and only a handful of non base apps...
WANT to play but DEVO message board is littered with the same complaints.

Finally! I thought I was the only one.
For a while, mine only crashed every so often. Ever since the last update, I've also crashed in the boss battles, the missions, and, as you mentioned, the space bridge.

TRANSFORMERS: LEGENDS will introduce the first Campaign in-game episode called Covert Operations and Evolution Cards beginning today, Wednesday, July 31. Please see details on the latest episode’s storyline and details on the Evolution Cards below.
Who:
DeNA and HASBRO are excited to bring Covert Operations and Evolution Cards and the new episode type Campaign to the popular card battle mobile game TRANSFORMERS: LEGENDS.
When:
The TRANSFORMERS: LEGENDS Covert Operations campaign episode is available to play beginning today, July 31 through Tuesday, August 6.
What:
Autobot operations have seen a series of setbacks lately. Each incident in itself may seem harmless, but the Autobots Blaster and Prowl have seen a pattern emerging where every major Autobot operation is slowly hampered and brought to a slowdown. Too delicate for a regular Decepticon ploy, this Decepticon operation is all about stealth, infiltration and hit and run attacks. In a response the Autobots send their best operatives that are the perfect fit to counter this new threat…
New Features:
Evolution Cards – You can now get a new type of cards: Evolution Cards. By merging evolution cards together you create a new card. This new card is more powerful, has new art and inherits a portion of the stats of the previous cards. The card can be evolved 3 times and every max levelled card used gets the 10% stat bonus. Fully evolved cards not only get a special battle bonus, they also play short animations in which you can see them transforming from their alt mode into robot mode!
Campaign Episodes – In the new Campaign Episode you must bring you strongest deck of cards and fight you way through increasingly difficult waves of enemies and bosses!
There are 3 Episode Campaigns; Easy, Medium and Hard. Each Campaign consists of a series of battlefields and missions, each of which becomes tougher while you progress through the campaign. The tougher the enemies, the more points and rewards you earn. Defeated enemy cards can be captured using Energon Nets and Energon Chains. Use these captured cards to improve your deck, level up your cards and complete your Cyberdex. Capturing cards also grant you more points and give extra rewards!
Each Campaign has an unique boss that is an Evolution Card. Clear the battlefields to reach these bosses and defeat them. Then you can capture the card and evolve the card up. On the Hard campaign the battlefields from 5 and up each feature the Evolution Card boss, and the higher the battlefield the higher the capture chance!

The description of the episode made promise of new evolution cards. Do you ever get them? I got one for free for joining the episode and then I got the same exact card after completing one of the tiers, I think. Not quite sure what the point of making the same exact card available in the episode was if they give it to you for free anyway. Has anybody played long enough to actually get to a point that the cards that you "net" are actually worth having? Is it just battling and netting 2s and 3s the whole time?
I am going back to being retired. My first impression of this new format is that it isn't worth trudging through the doldrums of the early tiers to get through to the later ones.
