As you probably noticed in one picture, he also comes with Steeljaw (not to be confused with the AOE Steeljaws).) Steeljaw was a concept 'bot for the movie, who would have transformed from Leadfoot's engine into a robotic dog, with the preliminary name of Warpath (Leadfoot had the preliminary name of Flash). Both can be seen in concept art below by Josh Nizzi.
Steeljaw did make it to plastic form and was included with the Human Alliance Leadfoot figure, though.
And one of the best parts of this reveal is that Leadfoot will be available for preorder beginning tomorrow, July 21st, at 9am EST, on Target's website, according to the Facebook post, which can be seen by clicking on any of the SS images above.
Are you excited for this reveal, now that you'll finally have all your SS Wreckers in armored up form, and the same size class? Let us know what you think below!

As a Canadian I'm still salty about Redwing.

So the specifics of his exclusively wasn't mentioned, and could still be a Red Card exclusive?

Plus if he's a Red Card exclusive I either need to be able to ignore it or want it enough to be mad again.
Deadput wrote:As a Canadian I'm still salty about Redwing.
I'm not even a Canadian, just a boring American, and I'M still salty about Redwing, Target's had multiple notable cybersecurity breaches in the past that I researched for a project a few years ago and it makes the thought of taking out a credit or debit card directly through them a laughable thought for me. The fact that the best-looking* Tetrajet is/was locked behind that potential/likely mess is maddening.
*I may be biased because I grew up on the Unicron Trilogy, and Redwing is Armada Screamer colors on a G1 Seeker and I love it.

Seriously though, this looks great, I wasn't expecting the inclusion of Steeljaw. I'll need to decide whether my Studio Series Autobot shelf really has a plave for the Wreckers, I wasn't really planning on getting them, but they're high up on my maybe pile.

When they don't set purchase limits we don't stand a chance against re-sellers running automatic buying programs/scripts/etc. At least these will presumably be in stores later on, and most Target exclusives are eventually easy to grab that way.LinaNui wrote:I was there refreshing the page at 8:00 cst, and it let me add to cart. I went right to my cart after that to increase it to 2 and then purchase but it was already sold out by the time that page loaded (not even 8:01 yet). I really hope that it was just a glitch and it pops back up. This whole pre-order selling out before they are even up is really getting annoying.

kind of weird how some target exclusives are easier for us to get in the UK than others.

There was a limit of 2 set. I do wonder if this is Red Wing part 2, where he was initially available without the RedCard online, then they realized their screw-up, and put him out of stock, then opened him back up but required the Red Card. At least I'm hoping that is the case. Otherwise, I'll hunt him down in stores come September if I have to.

Shame he sold out so fast. That is agonizing. I couldn't even add him to the cart.
Argh.

On an unrelated note, something's occurred to me regarding Blitzwing. The SS team have recycled transformations from pre-existing figures before (see Starscream from the DOTM Deluxe as the most obvious example) so it makes me wonder why they didn't at least take inspiration from ROTF Breakaway for Blitzwing. He has a VERY similar transformation to BW's onscreen model (Engines and wings form backpack, cockpit disassembles and compresses into chest etc) and with the larger "working space" they could easily have made the cockpit suck in enough to be movie accurate. I dunno, seems like a missed opportunity that would have given us a better robot mode and a MUCH better jet mode.

Considering jet Shatter gets pretty close to a Harrier without being licensed while Blitzwing doesn’t look anything like an F-4, I wonder if the jet mode is the way it is because it’ll be remolded to the cybertronian seekers. Not something I’d be interested in, but a Skywarp remold would be kinda neat just because we’d have different molds for Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp.
I’m curious why Topspin doesn’t reuse engineering from the DOTM deluxe, especially after other DOTM molds (Ratchet and Starscream) were upgraded for SS. I’m eager to have SS Topspin in hand so I can compare it to the original.

But more should be available when he is released in the fall and Target is the only US retailer getting the stock dedicated for US distribution.

Seconded. If you think about it, we got a ton of really unique ideas from the live action movies: wheels for feet, having no legs at all, different and unique body structures that went out of the norm for previous Transformers.

Agreed. While I prefer IDW's treatment of the Wreckers story-wise, A special heavily armed squad of foul mouthed/tempered, Armored (officially licensed) NASCAR cars was a pretty interesting idea.
Plus the designs look really cool.

On the other hand, one could make a case for their designs (Leadfoot's especially) being a tad stereotypical in that they're beer-bellied redneck mechanics who turn into NASCAR cars. Though, strangely, they were given mock Australian accents rather than Southern American accents to complete the depiction.Deadput wrote:Regardless of the films themselves, I don't think anyone can argue that the Movie Wreckers are not probably some of the absolute coolest and unique things that have come from the franchise in general.

Fun fact.
In the Canadian French dub, the Wreckers talked in QUÉBÉCOIS!

Speaking of Wreckers, I just finished painting SS Roadbuster! Had a blast painting it, and I'm really excited to paint the others now.
I just hope they get here soon, because I think Prime's getting impatient.

All of what you described could be traced back to Beast Machines. Obsidian, Strika, Thrust, and Jetstorm would all fall under the "wheels for feet, having no legs at all, different and unique body structures" categories. I will make note that while I prefer the more "traditional" and recognizable looks of the bots and cons from Bumblebee, there are certain movie-verse designs that also fall into those categories that I kinda like, most notably Demolisher/Scavenger and Sideswipe.

Let's notnfoeget that the movies gave us the 8-bot combiner, as well as Arcee and her sisters. I wish the sisters had gotten more screen time. I also wish we had gotten to see their rumored combined form as well. Oh, and let's mostly forget about two bots combining to a single vehicle POS mode.

I wish I was closer to it, an hour drive 1 way, so I could check more.
That would make sense given the recent sale. I hope Leadfoot shows up soon, he looks really good with the other Wreckers.

Characters don't need a whole movie to themselves to make them standout, they had a unique theme and designs to go with them (in context of the TF franchise itself) and these Wreckers being a squad of engineers makes them a version of the Wreckers who are not just "really mean soldiers".
Some characters are just secondary characters, Transformers included.

Probably good thing fans don’t make movies we would have never had bots look realistic if fans had say what bots look like they look very cartoony less realistic big blocky LEGO looking fans be giving bots human faces aliens from another planet who never made contact with humans until they went to earth that makes sense ., prime in truck mode end of bumblebee look very cartoony unrealistic all my life I never saw red semi truck with white stripe on cab.,
Movies did do unbelievable took people who never like transformers and turned them into transformers fans and both sequels made billion back to back two good things be proud of.,
Figures look good I like wreckers and twins even though transformers movies does feel like bumblebee movie at times always showing bumblebee more than other bots
Posted by Deadput on August 2nd, 2020 @ 3:41pm CDT
The movies were more at fault with not being "good movies" then designs not being on point, if they were good there would be a lot of fans of most of the Movie designs. (look at all the fans of the movie designs who do exist regardless of how bad the films were)
It's not like there was that much precedence at the time for going with G1 like designs up at that point, I don't quite remember if Classics was before/during/after the first movie but even they were taking liberties with designs.

That's rising costs for you (+inflation). I think we'd all love for the prices to have stayed that level, but sadly we would be getting even less for our money unless all the costs on Hasbro side stayed the same.
