Fall of Cybertron boasts such a creative list of weapons that many of High Moon’s concepts feel like they would be at home in a Ratchet and Clank or Resistance title. Players can outfit themselves with one primary and secondary weapon – usually a damage-heavy explosive cannon. Both Autobots and Decepticons have access to every weapon in the game. Here are a few of Fall of Cybertron’s more impressive Saturday-morning specials. And be sure to check out these guns in action in the weapons gallery below.
The Upgrade System
Each weapon can be upgraded through universal munitions stations scattered around the planet. “We really made a conscious choice to make every upgrade a significant improvement, so one upgrade might increase your firing speed by 75 percent,” explains game director Matt Tieger. “We could have made the system so that there were a lot of upgrades that each improved your guns a little bit, but we wanted to make each upgrade feel like this giant thing. That way when players buy it they’re really going to feel the difference.” The great thing about this upgrade system? Players only have to buy each upgrade once, as every upgrade carries over to other characters whenever they use that weapon.

And that Cliffjumper looks awesome. Nice thing they gave him his Prime head instead of making him red Bumblebee. Now, the only character I would still want in the game is Prowl... Hopefully he is in FoC even somehow.
Also, all those weapons look very cool. I'm happy they didn't just put same weapons to FoC that were in WFC. Those weapons really gave me the "Ratchet and Clank" -feeling, which is just good, because I love those games.

Optimus's best friend, and one of the strongest Autobots!
After seeing both this and episode 26 of Prime, there should be no more doubt that WFC/Exodus/Exiles/FoC are related to Prime and not to G1.
Now I wanna see Bulkhead in this.

The X18 is basically a chain gun. It can cut through Autobots like toy cars in a barrel, but it also burns through ammo quickly. Upgrades for this weapon increase its ammo capacity, windup time, running speed, and accuracy. “This gun looks giant and heavy when tiny characters like Cliffjumper are holding it,” Zaferakis says. “But larger character like Optimus Prime can hold it like it’s nothing.”
Chaos Rift Combustor
“This was originally an alt fire for Megatron’s tank, but it was cool enough that it needed to be its own weapon,” Zaferakis explains. To use the Chaos Rift, you must first line a shot using the weapon’s aiming arc. The Chaos Rift launches cluster bombs that land and spawn a flurry of mini explosives. You can also manually detonate the cluster bomb in the air, creating a meteor shower of little bombs over your enemies.
Dimensional Decimator
This tiny grenade tears a hole in the fabric of space and time. After players discharge the explosive, an energy funnel begins to rise into the air, pulling everyone in the vicinity toward it before finally exploding and spraying shards of its victims in all directions. “It basically creates a giant gravitational black hole,” Tieger explains. “It’s got a black center with green tornado effects around it. It looks really cool.”
Energon Harvester
The Energon Harvester is basically a shotgun that leaches health off enemies while healing your character. “This doesn’t do as much damage,” Tieger admits, “but it’s a way for players to gain heath back. Like a combo between a shotgun and a drain gun.”
Gear Shredder
This fearsome weapon launches spinning eradicator blades. “It cuts limbs off enemies and ricochets off surfaces, so if you know a guy is taking cover around a corner you can hit him with a bank shot,” Zaferakis says. “You can also, charge it up and run around with a spinning sawblade to melee enemies.” One of the Gear Shredder’s upgrades allows players to launch multiple blades at once to take out a spread of enemies; another causes the saw blades to home in on a target after they bounce off a surface.
Nucleon Charge Rifle
The Nucleon Charge Rifle is the game’s sniper rifle. Thus, it’s got a zoomed-in scope and a powerful single-shot blast that increases in damage the longer the player aims at the target.
Riot Cannon
This is High Moon’s equivalent to Megatron’s arm cannon. “This is a traditional shooter weapon, but once it’s upgraded we turn the last shot in your clip up to 12. It’s like a mini nuke basically,” Tieger explains. “This is a really unique gun because we find that people want to run around with just one bullet left.” High Moon is still fine-tuning the Riot Cannon, but right now the final shot does somewhere around 300 percent normal damage and causes a giant explosion capable of eliminating an entire wave of oncoming enemies.
Photon Burst Rifle
It’s a standard assault rifle, but when players have this weapon equipped they have the passive ability to see their enemy’s health listed on their HUD. “It’s a decent, long-range burst rifle that is relatively accurate, but the unique twist is that it gives you that extra information,” Tieger says. Once the Photon Burst Rifle is upgraded, players no longer have to pull the trigger each time they want to fire the gun, and can instead set it to auto-burst fire.

I never cared about co-op in WFC, so I'm not losing anything. It was annoying when you tried to play it and you had company who didn't really know how to play the game...
ESCALATION, YES! Pretty much only reason I'm still playing WFC (good players have disappeared from multiplayer), so naturally I'm glad it's back in FoC.

Personally, from the very first day, I've been wishing it would be Sunstreaker. But you never know.
IIRC, Exodus had Defensor. And in WFC we already got Silverbolt and Air Raid, so I guess if we get Autobot combiner, it'd be easiest to have Superior.

Yeah, I guess we're getting Superion since both of the characters are in-game. Can't say the same for Bruticus since there's only Brawl in WfC, but we do have Breakdown... So that has to mean something (Menasor...? Nah )
I hope next update of the game tells us of how many characters we're getting in game, Autobots and Decepticons alike.

And in DLC packs we got Onslaught and Dead End. Then again, I think DS versions had Motormaster and Dragstrip too, at least they have concept art.
lol, and why did I write "Superior"? Stupid me...
By the looks now it seems we're getting more characters than we had in WFC. Especially when combiners are involved. But I'm fine with that. More characters means more characters in Escalation.

Cybertron, Iacon, Sea of Rust, Space Bridge, Insecticon Invasion, Shockwave's Lair, Kaon, the Nemesis, the Ark, Teletran.
Of note, the Nemesis looks very faithful to its look in the Prime cartoon.

Ooh, looks like no one's added the latest gameinformer.com update to the thread.
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/ ... rtron.aspx
It's a thing of beauty. Looks like they want to hit even more dramatic and varied environments. I personally loved the Star Galleries and Kaon as my Number 1 and 2 fav. places in WfC, and these are looking equally as interesting.
Also, it looks like several questions that have been posed get answered here too.
I think someone mentioned they didn't know where Cybertron was in relation to Earth in this continuity?
"The home planet of the Transformers is a world of metal on the far side of the galaxy from Earth."
So, the other side of the Milky Way?
"Long ago, Cybertron and its inhabitants experienced a golden age of expansion, scientific growth, and peace. Cybertronian civilization spread out to colony worlds across the galaxy."
So even before the Exodus in the first game, there are already existing colonies on other planets, assuming they weren't all abandoned during the civil war.
"The calculating Decepticon scientist, Shockwave, has uncovered a last functional space bridge, and is slowly unraveling its secrets. He has already used it to examine a far distant planet filled with organic life – a place that will later be called Earth by its inhabitants. On Earth, he observes hulking reptilian beasts that inspire his dark science experiments. He has captured a powerful squad of Autobot warriors led by Grimlock, and those unfortunate soldiers will fall victim to Shockwave’s experiments as he tries to recreate those distant dinosaur creatures here on Cybertron. "
Some stuff we already knew, and maybe some we didn't have confirmed before now...
And I love love LOVE that they've brought in the insecticons here this way! Reminds me of AHM.
"While the surface of Cybertron is populated by intelligent, sentient robots, the underground is filled with dangerous metallic creatures of a more sinister and mindless variety. Many of these creatures have been forced to the surface after the core of the planet was poisoned by dark energon. Shockwave has taken the already dangerous Insecticon hordes and further modified them, making them an even more malicious threat. "
Also supporting the whole "Cybertron naturally has variants on indigenous robot life" theory. Beyond humanoids, that is. So Trypticon could go either way at this point.
And there are few things that maybe sort of hint at some fun stuff to theorize....
"Long ago, Cybertron and its inhabitants experienced a golden age of expansion, scientific growth, and peace. Cybertronian civilization spread out to colony worlds across the galaxy. That civilization came to a tragic end millennia ago, leaving behind relics and remnants of a time when the Cybertronians were more powerful than they are today... "
"...In fact, while traveling across the Sea of Rust, players will see the fallen corpses of massive robots – members of the fallen civilization that once traveled the stars. Now, these robotic bodies are like mountains and valleys in the wastes, memories of a forgotten power. "
Robots like Omega Supreme and Trypticon could be like what they're referring to, or it could be Gestalts, or city-formers, or anything else.
By the by, The fact that the Sea of Rust is going to be a map/level makes my life complete. From the first moment I heard about the place years ago, I thought, "nah, that'll NEVER make it's way significantly into the franchise's plot at some point." (But obviously I thought it was just an awesome thought from the mere name) But at the same time I didn't think we'd get a non-tv series or movie tied game (I'll consider TFP coming after WfC, especially since the general public has no idea that they're connected unless they initially believe all continuities are connected...generalization :S), especially set exclusively on Cybertron. I am happy, no matter how it compares to WfC gameplay wise, at least it will have the Sea of Rust.

Colony worlds such as Velocitron and Junkion (and Gigantion). All mentioned in Exodus and Exiles. They have not been abandoned, but have instead become isolated and cut off from Cybertron since the collapse of the Space Bridge network.NatsumeRyu wrote:"Long ago, Cybertron and its inhabitants experienced a golden age of expansion, scientific growth, and peace. While Exodus did touch upon the Insecticons a little bit, all it showed of them was a combining trio that had been experimented on by Shockwave and fought/were killed by Megatronus in the gladiatorial Tournament of Champions. Makes sense for there to be more of them.NatsumeRyu wrote:And I love love LOVE that they've brought in the insecticons here this way! Reminds me of AHM.

Well, I don't mean Trypt or Omega individually, I mean as a sort of sub-species or type of Cybertronian in their size/function. Make sense? Basically, they hint at there being more of the larger Cybertronians present in the past, and that Cybertronians in general were more powerful (but in what respect? gestalt/teamwork, brute force, intelligence? All of the above?). Right?

Hmm, off the top of my head, I can't recall Exodus talking of larger TFs during the pre-war times (Unicron's attack --> the War of the Primes --> the Age of Wrath --> the Golden Age --> the rise of the caste system --> the war). Though, during the Golden Age, Bruticus Maximus was created by Shockwave as the first gestalt, but his combined form proved too unstable and was put into stasis. He did not resurface until later in the war, which he took part in as an active living combatant.NatsumeRyu wrote:Well, I don't mean Trypt or Omega individually, I mean as a sort of sub-species or type of Cybertronian in their size/function. Believe it or not, that's not encouraging me to want to read them, LOL. If the reverse were true (more game friendly) than I would be inclined. It's not that I don't like Prime, but I'm more interested in games. And since it's my college major, it helps if I sort-of focus on games for school, lol.

Based on the images that [aesthetically] remind me immediately of Omega, but even bigger, I'm inclined to think not of Gestalts, but primarily City-formers at this point. Granted I haven't seen a gestalt for this continuity yet so I don't have a full data stream to pull from for that decision. It also dredges up what part Metroplex might have in the game though, considering how large they look in the images in the Rust Sea / Sea of Rust (initially I was more supportive of calling the thing in that image Fort Max, but apparently Metroplex is mentioned in the Mag, so I'll stick with it....for now, *evil laugh*).
I would then be inclined to think that Shockwave would create the gestalts as a call back to their former glory as Cybertronians; his attempts at once again reaching whatever pinnacle they were at and now apparently don't have full records of anymore. *shrug*

Nah, Shocky ain't that deep. Here's the problem with that. WfC had a big gallery of art that looked like that. Not exactly, mind you, but the same style, incredibly impressive landscapes and such. And very, very little of it ended up being used to make anything in the game. While it looks beautiful (And some of them are screenshots rather than art) keep in mind that it's highly unlikely this is what the game will look like.

Sadly, I have to agree. As much as the artwork kicks ass in lots of places, its probably best to base the game on the actual rendered pics. I like the colours in the lighting, but I hope we get the same variety (in colour and level complexity) as shown from some of the more ground based environments concepts.

I don't mind that it won't be the exact same. I'm glad they are doing such a good job with the franchise and using these images as references for what they are doing.

I have. And it's undeniable that those are just homages and that the WFC is completely irreconcilable with the G1 cartoon. I got proof.Starscream GaGa wrote:And before anyway says they're not the same continuity, go back and play the first game again, because it was undeniably made with the 80's cartoon in mind.
Looking like G1 =/= G1. Animated and the Movies both had some heavily G1-inspired character designs (and even some G1 voice veterans), but they aren't G1 either.wigglez323 wrote:That's what I said. We've been over this already. Grimlock is the finishing move here, too. He can't exist on Cybertron if Wheeljack built him on Earth in the present day, can he?
And, as Sabrblade said, looking like G1 does not make it G1. Because Animated is designed to be one homage after another, and Beast Wars looks nothing like G1.
