Episode #283 “Awaken! Victory Leo” is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher Radio and many other Podcatcher sites within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.
Here's what we discuss in this episode:
- By the time this Twincast is posted, the Victory Saber HasLab campaign has been announced and is well on its way - so listen to our outdated speculation and totally wrong predictions.
- We move on to Cyberverse Deluxe Slag, who looks a lot better than other recent Slags of similar size. Look what happens when comic nerds get to design Transformers?
- Masterpiece leaks abound as Shouki enters the realm of the prototype. The crew attempts to puzzle out the transformation as we look towards the next member of train combiner Raiden.
- Speaking of leaks, Masterpiece Cliffjumper is looking mighty fine, if a tad green.
- We get to the latest Fan Friday reveals as Coronation Starscream, Sweep, and Perceptor grace Studio Series, and what to expect at October's PulseCon (not much, yet).
- Bragging rights! What has everyone gotten since last time?

I have no background on this. So which comic nerds? And which comics in particular? The IDW continuity?
I really like this design. Definitely better than the PotP version you are clearly referencing to (except that it doesn't have a combiner feature) and even better than the SS86 Leader class version.
I'm really looking forward to Cyberverse Deluxe Snarl.

Yeah, while not exact by any means, it really feels like the IDW 1 continuity's Slag.Lunatic Prime wrote:I have no background on this. So which comic nerds? And which comics in particular? The IDW continuity?
...then I looked up pictures to put something here as a reference and maybe this wasn't the best comparison That Slag was an especially grumpy bruiser, so maybe that just colored my memory a certain way. Anyhow, here's Kei Zama's take on him from a cover:
Nick Roche did the original design, Andrew Griffith and Livio Ramondelli probably the other most prolific artists with respect to these Dinobots.

I know this design and version of his personality from the comics and I was thinking about him, too. This personality would fit the new Cyberverse design as it looks very gladiator like. But the design is definitely completely different.
But I wouldn't mind getting a figure of the IDW design, looking like a spartan or even Sauron-esque helmet.
