Fellow Seibertronian Mindmaster has spotted the Combiner Wars Bruticus Wave (2016 Wave 1) at Target.

Only Vortex and Blast Off were found but this is definitely a sign that this wave is making its way across the US. Let your fellow fan friends know in your respective sightings thread if ever you spot them in your area!

Top 5 Most Needed / Wanted G1 Transformers Toys Reissues

Every two weeks, Seibertron.com brings you a Top 5 list related to all things Transformers written by me, your fellow editor. These are my opinions (just like movie or game reviews hosted by sites are still just the opinion of one person) so what matters most is what you guys think of the topic or list, and I hope to see your own lists or comments on omissions and ranking. Let's have fun! All previous lists can be found here.

Top 5 most needed G1 reissues

This list is pretty easy and needs almost no introduction. With G1 reissues being trendy again through the Platinum line, there are some I want Hasbro to release (some of which would be for the first time actually), and this list details them with some fun pics. What all these have in common is a fun playability aspect that G1 seemed to do really well and has been hard to replicate since, at least at that level. Let me know which ones you would like to see a rerelease (doesn't mater if it's already been rereleased as that hasn't stopped them). Hasbro is known to check these boards, so make it count! Seibertron has a bunch of galleries of the rarer toys so be sure to check them out and populate the discussion with pictures showcasing the beauty of these older toys which you feel need to be brought back.

5. Headmasters

The Headmasters were based on a fun gimmick that started the idea (along with Target Masters) of smaller Transformers interacting with larger ones (which became the entire gimmick of the Armada line and has remained a staple in one way or another). With the Headmasters, the little robot was a pilot for the larger robot's alt mode.

Since these toys were targeted at young children and older collectors weren't such a common occurrence, these smaller robots were often lost just as other accessories for any other toy is often lost. However, these were a far more unfortunate loss than a gun or even the other smaller robots which turned into guns (Target Masters) because these tiny robots Transformed into the larger robot's head.

Thus, while these toys are fun for the new level of interactivity, it is very hard for others to experience these old toys today since there are far more headless bodies available, to the point where the head will cost as much if not more than the larger Transformer body. What would be awesome is if Hasbro just rereleased a bunch of heads but I would be more than content with a reissue of the full headmasters.

4. Transformers G1 1987 Raiden

Japan was always more into train robots than the west/Hasbro was, with an entire Tomy line devoted to trains (which is the line Omega Supreme was designed for, and a line still existing today). It only makes sense that Takara would have a large train combiner that never got brought over by Hasbro. What is amazing about Raiden is that unlike the micromaster train combiners that came after (which Hasbro did eventually release), all the train cars could link to one another. This has never been done since in the Transformers line (Power Rangers did it, but those toys didn't come out in the west either). You could actually have this six car train and play with it as any other toy train and then separate them from one another and combine them into a really large robot. The angular train cars give the robot a very uniform look which many combiners fail to do.

3. Transformers Super God Masterforce Overlord

Oh man, this is the motherload of G1 excellence. I feel best to just give you the pictures below and leave you with this quote from fellow Seibertronian member Morphbots:

This toy is primarily made up of a tank and a cybertronian jet, both of which comes with little robots o pilot them.

While each could fit in the cockpits, there was another port to insert them in on the vehicles.

You could combine these two vehicles to forma base for the little guys.

Or combine them to form a larger space ship.

Of course, these two vehicles combined to make a larger robot, Overlord himself.

The two smaller robots could plug into his chest, releasing some spring loaded gimmicks.

Oh and he was BIG!

2. Transformers Victory Liokaiser

I will break down how fun and well done this combiner is for a G1 toy. Firstly, Liokaiser is made up of six vehicles.

Each individual robot has a interesting animal theme, like Jarugar below who's robot head has a jaguar helmet.

You see his chest plate above? It was removable (they were called the Breastforce)and actualy turned into a gun...

... as well as a beast companion. In this case a flying Jaguar.

Each of the six had the same breast plate gimmick but their own individual animals.

Liokaiser himself is a great sum of his parts since, unlike previous combiners, his combiner hands and feet were integrated within the various vehicles. The only extra piece that you'd have to add to him to complete the combiner was the combiner head which is actually the top part of the robot's face and the larger lion themed helmet(the back of head becomes the combiner's mouth, quite a clever design).

1. The Dinobots

These need no explanation or argument. Everyone knows these iconic characters in one form or another. They have been a staple of the Transformers brand and are the perfect combination of everything a kid could want. They are dinosaurs who turn into robots. Can you think of anything better than that? I sure couldn't (my favourite childhood toy was Beast Wars Megatron) and I would love to own these G1 toys, as would every collector out there. While we are all wishing, I would prefer Swoop's chest to be blue like in the show but I wont complain one bit if ever these toys are rereleased.

Honourable mentions: I am not a big fan of pretenders but I would really wish to own the ones who's inner robots combine like Dino King and Monstructor (which are pretty redecos of one another).

Also, at the tail end of G1, when G2 was a thing, there were some G1 toys that were released by Hasbro but not in the United States. One of the best out of these was Skyquake and the predators (with fan favorite stalker). These could also interact with one another. The main problem was that Skyquake himself had parts that easily broke so a reissue (with better plastic) would please both those who never owned him and those who broke theirs.

Howdy fellow Seibertronians and welcome to this week's much belated Transformers photo challenge.

In this week's challenge we will be exploring the evolution of Transformers. Over last thirty years or so, the Transformers brand has gone through quite a lot of changes. Those changes have been represented in the various TV series, movies, comic books and of course the many, many different toys. This is a brand and more importantly a toy-line that is continuously transformering (you knew it was coming) and re-inventing itself.

This is not just a G1 vs "X" challenge. You can use what inspired Transformers, RID2015, Combiner Wars or anything in-between. You can focus on series, transformation techniques, gimmicks or showcase a single character. Take your time, think about it; you've got two weeks, wow us! I'll throw out a couple keywords to try and help inspire: evolution, flux, begin again, renew, reformat.

This challenge will run from today 12/11/15 to 12/27/15, which is the Sunday after Christmas (just in case anyone gets some fun new toys they wanna share).

As usual, submission post please use TFPC #9 in the subject line. Non submitters, please feel free to join in on the conversation. Multiple submissions are always welcomed and encouraged!

Rounding off the last wave of 2015 Transformers Legends class, currently still under the Combiner Wars monicker, fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 brings us a video review of the redeco, with the new Huffer head, of the Optimus Prime mold - into Pipes! (Poor Pipes.) Check it out below.

Depending on how you count mold uses, this is either the 4th or 5th use of the Generations Legends Optimus Prime mold. You now have you selection of colors and two heads, if you haven't been buying them all along like I have. Pipes is has the tightest joints thus far, which is a good thing, and I do like the color blue, another plus. In the end it all comes down to whether or not you want another Legends sized truck sitting on your desk.

Takara's UW 04 Devastator is now shipping from all Japanese retailers. Is yours on the way? To make the wait easier (or harder), Alfes has some great in hand pictures of this big beautiful behemoth. The galleries of Seibertron have updated with tons of new images of the newest behemoth to grace a Transformers collection. Bruticus features mostly repainted or retooled versions of previously used molds with the one true new mold belonging to Brawl. Onslaught is a retool of Hot Spot, Swindle is a retool of Rook, Blast Off is a repaint of Quickslinger in his upgraded fighter jet alt mode and Vortex is a repaint of Alpha Bravo.

We have some more news on the - now confirmed - one-shot featuring the Transformers in the IDW Publishing Deviations series, thanks to Newsarama. Brandon Easton will be taking up writing duties, while Priscilla Tramontano will work out the art, and they've both been interviewed about the issue - find out more below, and read the full piece here.

In March, IDW Publishing is revisiting classic moments from it's most popular franchises in a series of thematic one-shots subtitled "Deviations," and for the Transformers it doesn't get any bigger than the original Transformers: The Movie. Transformers: Deviations revisits the classic G1 era to ask "what if Optimus Prime didn't die and was there to stand against Unicron?"

Transformers: Deviations is by writer Brandon Easton and veteran Transformers artist Priscilla Tramantano, and we spoke to them about this unique opportunity -- and oh yeah, we talk about that epic soundtrack as well.

Newsarama: Brandon, what is Transformers: Deviations about?

Brandon Easton: This is a spin on the extremely popular alternate universe concept seen in sci-fi stories and graphic novels for decades. The idea that we get to peek into a different continuity where events took a strange turn and a whole new reality is born is difficult to resist. In Transformers Deviations, we speculate on the one of the biggest moments in Transformers history – the death of Optimus Prime from the classic Transformers: The Movie (1986).

The story explores the events of the original Generation One Transformers timeline if Optimus Prime had not been critically injured by Megatron in their fateful battle in Autobot City. Anyone who knows the movie and the subsequent stories from the third season of the classic TV series knows that Optimus’ death was a central point in the saga and if he survives a wholly divergent and complex wall of dominoes tumble erratically. We get a universe that deviates from the original timeline in a very interesting way.

So in a nutshell, it’s “What if Optimus Prime survived?”

Nrama: Who are the characters that take center stage in this one?

Easton: Without ruining too much, I will say that Optimus, Hot Rod and Starscream get a lot of “screen time.” There’s a lot more I could say, but I’d rather have people check out the book when it hits the stores.

Tramontano: Grimlock is a favorite of mine and he plays a big part in the movie so it'll be cool to revisit that. But I'm looking forward to the Starscream coronation gag. It´s such an iconic scene, probably my favorite scene out of the 1986 movie, and I want to see how fans will react to this new spin Brandon gave to it!

Nrama: And is there anyone you wish you could have drawn but didn't?

Tramontano: Well, I love Galvatron but sadly he won't be in this.

Nrama: This is an interesting concept -- the idea of an alternate history. What does this offer for you two as a writer and artist respectively, and do you see potential for doing it more with Transformers?

Tramontano: As a fan, it's very common for us to play within established universe, drawing fan art, writing fanfics and so on. Imagining what could have been if something had happened differently is part of the fun. I like this idea a great deal. Now, as an artist, things get more complicated because you're dealing with something that people love with all their hearts and you have to be able to tell them you're not trying to replace the original material but just add a new version. I sincerely hope people are open-minded about this book and like the result. Reading Brandon's script, I know I did (as an artist and as a fan).

Easton: Alternate history stories are a sub-genre of speculative fiction and they’re great ways to explore socio-political concepts without alienating readers. I would point to the works of Harry Turtledove or Bryce Zabel to see some compelling takes on how different the world would be if a critical moment in history went in another direction.

Personally, as a writer of speculative fiction and a former U.S. History teacher, I adore alternate histories because they allow us to engage in a different kind of world-building exercise that forces us to work within grounded constraints while still pushing the boundaries of what is/was possible.

In a sneak preview to news announced today on the usual, other comics websites, IDW Publishing have uploaded a quick interview with editor in chief Chris Ryall, introducing their new comics event 'Deviations', a type of 'What If' five-week mini-series, with one spotlight on the Transformers... in a world where Optimus has never died. Without giving too much away, what exactly is Deviations?

Deviations is, basically, a look at some of the bigger properties we publish, all of which have had many big, notable moments in their history, where we explore a divergent path in those storylines.

What led to you wanting to do this type of event?

All of the titles that make up this 5-week event have featured stories that have led to fun fan debates over what might have happened if a big event had gone another way, whether in past comics, TV series, or movies. So this is taking a big, fan-favorite moment and spinning that story in another direction to explore what could’ve been.

What series will be involved?

The series, and the catalyst for the stories, are:

Ghostbusters: “In a world… where the Ghostbusters NEVER crossed streams!”
G.I. JOE: “In a world… where COBRA turns the table on G.I. JOE.”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: “In a world… where Shredder leads the Turtles.”
Transformers: “In a world… where Optimus Prime never died!”
The X-Files: “In a world… where young Fox Mulder was abducted by aliens!”

What’s your favorite “What If…” comic?

I was always a big fan of Frank Miller’s take on “What If Elektra Had Lived?” from the original series. In most of those old comics, the “what-if” story always ended far worse for the characters than in the regular series. Whether that was just to do big, explosive things in those comics or to assure readers things like “See? It’s much better that Phoenix DID die,” they usually all ended very badly. Miller’s Elektra tale, not so much—he took things in another direction entirely, and handled it all in unique fashion. Which is the goal here—anyone can play “what if?” games with stories but we’re really striving for these comics to do surprising, unexpected things. And who knows, if they go over well enough, maybe they could lead to entirely new series of this divergent timeline.

Remember when cereal boxes had a little surprise in them? Well, this is kind of like that instead you get a free Transformers toy... using a coupon sent through the mail.

Kellogg's has teamed up with Hasbro for a special promotion. The details are written on the box pictured below. It seems each specially marked cereal box under the Kellogg's brand (like Fruit Loops) has a special code inside which can then be entered on kelloggs.ca/hasbro. You will then write your shipping address for a 15$ free toy coupon to be delivered. A maximum of 5 coupons per address are allowed. The box identifies Transformers as being one of the main toy brands which can be picked offering One Step Robots in Disguise Bumblebee as an example. Bumblebee is also featured on the front of the box as well. There are 40,000 free toy coupons available. There are also 100,000 10$ off Hasbro products coupons which can also be exchanged for the pin numbers (if the user doesn't want any of the choices available)

This offer is available to all Canadians and Canadian addresses. There is still no word whether or not a similar promotion will be happening in the US or anywhere else.
