Toys Are Russ has even more Hasbro sponsored content for us, now for figures under the SS86 banner. The Galvatron review gives a great look at how different the colors are this time around.
But even better, he presents the newly revealed SS86 Constructions, Scavenger and Bonecrusher. Many fans claim these are very similar to the combiner wars iterations so this video could shed some light on how different (or not) they are.

It’s a big two days for reveals. Hasbro has just given us our first look at two hotly anticipated figures:
Studio series 86 Devastator and Age of the Primes The Fallen/Megstronus
The Fallen uses the Dreamwave design most are familiar with. As for Devastator we now know how all the components will be released, and we know it is meant to scale with the new Menasor.

Transformers superfan Toys Are Russ was given early access to upcoming Studio Series toys from Hasbro. That includes the newly revealed VW Bumblebee toy for his appearance in the 2018 film. You can see all those review below. For Apelinq, PVP has a review available and we also have multiple images from ebay listings. Those make it easy to see the differences between him and Optimus Primal.

We thank JTPrime17 for letting the community know about an upcoming change. The upcoming Studio Series Widowmaker will have her name changed on the box to KSI Widow. This is supposedly due to not wanting to step on the shoes of Overwatch who also has a character called Widowmaker. There is an image of her below for those curious.
First up is DOTM Que, who looks spectacular! Note that he has the big gun thing he wears on his back in the movie, and has his tools built in!
Next up is MV6 Bee, who is actually a heavy retool of SS-18! The vehicle shell is largely reused but pretty much all the inner structure is new. He does have door wings but they can reportedly swivel down now.
We also have a repack of 86 Jazz and voyager ROTB Prime:
WFC Ironhide, who actually has more retooling than expected from Ratchet. Includes what’s either a scatter blaster or EMP shotgun:
Then there is AOE Prime! Important note that the colors in this render are incomplete per Hasbro. Love that the sword and shield are properly scaled!

Hasbro has been reinventing itself as a company these past 10 years. Under Brian Goldner, the goal was to become a media empire through licence holding, more like Disney. However, the media plans switched, with their movie investments not working out and leading them to sell off their production studio. They are now focusing on becoming a « digital play » focused company under their new CEO, Chris Cocks. These changes in goals are because they feel there is less money to be made in physical toys than before. While that is probably true, there are still a few toylines that are seeing growth and Transformers has been mentioned as one of the rare ones in their recent earnings call for Q3.
While revenue for the company was down 15%, Transformers sales had a 5% increase. Of course its a far cry from the 87% they stated last year, thanks to the Rise of the Beasts toys, but it’s still growth in an overall market that is either stagnant or at loss. The other brands seeing growth are Furby, MLP and Play D’Oh, along with Beyblade which scored the highest growth (71%). We must remember though that unlike Transformers, Hasbro does not own Beyblade.
Nerf suffered losses along with their Star Wars line, which has been a gripe of Hasbro’s for years now, since they also have the license as a sunk cost.

We finally have our first look at Transformers Studio Series Apelinq. At least in terms of the robot mode it seems to be very similar to leader class Optimus Primal but with new forearms. He has a faceplate headsculpt. He also has the new blade accessories. The shoulder pads are also different and its more apparent in the alt mode, which also has a different headsculpt.

John Warden has had one of the most historic runs at Hasbro under the Transformers brand. He started as a designer, bringing back a lot of G1 designs, and then moved into becoming the lead of the department, setting up epic toy trilogies like Combiner Wars and Titans Return. While he was meant to come back as the head of the Transformers team, Hasbro is undergoing structural layoffs where they removing 100 positions, and that includes John Warden.
I’ve had the privilege of a lifetime to be part of the creative force at Hasbro. When I was a boy in the early 1980’s, I was encouraged by my Dad, an inner city public school art teacher, to learn about industrial design. It wasn’t until I saw Where the Toys Come From in 1984 on a VHS cassette from my local library that I realized that the worlds of drawing, painting, sculpture, and mass-production engineering collided into a fascinating miasma resulting in the swivel-armed hero that I held in my hand. That next year, I would go on to write a letter for my fifth grade class to Ralph Shaffer, the mastermind SVP who (alongside the mighty James Groman) created the wacky MadBall line in the nearby metro area of Cleveland Ohio. To my surprise he wrote me back and I got a tour… the illustrations on frisket hanging on the wall, originals from Groman himself and the think tank of subversive designers. My career at Hasbro has taught me what it means to dream hard enough that your dreams come to life. And just like the closing act in The Muppet Movie, for 25 years, you as Hasbro’s fans of Transformers, G.I.Joe, MASK, Visionaries, Jem, Pokémon, Star Wars… we came together. Through the crashing anarchy of the rainbow we came together, somehow. Like a family. To hundreds upon thousands of fans that I’ve met at conventions around the world, I say thank you. Your passion for the brands that we all grew up with and loved as children is beyond measure. It has been a privilege and an honor to talk to each and every one of you. We are all Family. Thank you fans and thank you Hasbro for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime to bring my childhood dreams to life these past 25 years. Even to bring new dreams to life for a new generation of fans, like my kids who are now adults. As I gaze misty eyed on my career and what magic comes next, my heart is filled with gratitude.Fear not, Autobots. I am sure our paths will come together again. As sure as the sun beams in from above onto the singing Muppets below. Thank you
Here is John Warden discussing the layoffs on the news:

Jason Scheier, the production designer of Transformers One, was recently featured in the Triple Takeover podcast, where he talks about potential sequels to Transformers: One, including how Josh Cooley already has outlines for the second movie and plans to make it a trilogy. He also mentions the dismay he has with the box office, and how that may impact how soon a sequel happens. However, he does mention the light at the end of the tunnel, which is that further good word about the movie could help initiate a sequel and let us continue to enjoy the story set up in Transformers: One.
We also have to remember that other factors, like very strong streaming numbers and toy sales, could help greenlight a sequel. Though that means it will take more time for Paramount to make the decision, hence the talk of a sequel now being on the back burner rather than in production.
You can check out a sample from the recent Triple Takeover Podcast, and you can follow the Instagram link above to find the whole show.
Triple Takeover #91 wrote:Sixo: I mean, are there bits there that you would have, like, held back for a potential sequel? Y'know, if there is a sequel - obviously I know it's a big 'if' at the moment-- Jason: Yeah. Sixo: --and like nobody knows - if you were to come back, is there more ideas in the tank, ready to go, or...? Jason: Oh my gosh, Josh has the whole second movie already outlined. Hosts: Oh wow Jason: He's already talking to me, or spoke to specific aspects of things for the second film that are... ten times crazier, more amazing than the first film? Liam: That's what we like to hear! Jason: Yeah, it breaks my heart that it's not performing because that's gonna take a very long time to get here. Sixo: Yeah. Jason: Because it's now, it's gonna be like probably put on the backburner because, y'know, the box office didn't justify the story. We need fans like yourselves to keep spreading the gospel that this thing needs to be made, because, um... I'm just patiently waiting for my chance to fight on Cybertron again!

Hot Wheels is recalling their release of Transformers Barricade. We have word from suppliers that their shipments arrived with Barricade missing from the set of Hot Wheels Transformers cars and a sticker has been placed over the back, hiding Barricade where we see the full set. While the recall is true, the reason is just a rumour, and that rumour is that it's been recalled due to the words "punish and enslave".
Western retailers are now selling the complete set as a pack of 4 and not 5. However, not all retailers are sending theirs back to Mattel, with certain Asian based sellers still selling Barricade online, albeit at higher prices.
We don't know if this toy will be rereleased (with out without the words on the side) but right now this toy has the potential to become a really hot Hot Wheels collectible.

Have you all found your Hotwheels Bumblebees yet? It appeared in 2 cases which have come and are now gone, with later 2024 cases now being used for restocking the Hotwheels bins/shelves. If you didnt find one, the gold « repaint » will be coming shortly and in better supply. Not only is demand for this variant less than the original (as the original is also the very first time we had a Hasbro transformers car in the Hotwheels mainline in history), it will also be more abundant. While the gold variant is only one per case in the Q case (the final case of 2024) it appears twice in the A case of 2025 as a default. This is a big improvement on the original release which appeared only one per case in multiple markets, with only some markets ever getting 2 per case.
So yes, the variant will be less rare than the original.
You can see the case breakdown of the 2024 Q case and 2025 A case in the videos below. The gold variant should be hitting stores in the holiday season.
Welcome to another chance to listen to the Twincast / Podcast team gab away about the toys you love and worship. Episode 361 features Host ScottyP, Megatronus, Aaronhide19, and Mr. Starscream as they try to retain normalcy in the wake of the massive retail release of Studio Series 86-31 Commander class Optimus Prime. The opinions are in and it's not 100% a gravy train! The trailer is still pretty loaded with gravy though. Listen up to find out why.
Episode #361 “Doppelganger” is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on Apple Podcasts and many other Podcatcher sites within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.
Here's what we discuss in this episode:
The new retro series Generations deluxes went up for preorder, yay! Did the cast buy them? Did you? Are they even really labeled accurately? What are these things actually homaging? ScottyP knows.
The less news-based segments got a little bit more breathing room this episode due to a light news week so the cast expanded their discussion quite a bit for 40 for 40 and Bragging Rights. The team remembers the best figures of 2018, which not only feels like just yesterday, but a million years in the past as well. Please listen to us cope with this conundrum.
Wait a minute... you didn't come out in 2018, did you!?
Bragging rights tears through with something old, something new, something broken, but nothing blue. We're pretty sure at least SOMEONE got a new toy that you yourself have been looking for.
See? Purple! NOT BLUE!

All through October Big Bad Toy Store has been celebrating their 25th anniversary with a month of weekly exclusives ending on the 25th. There have been silhouettes teasing some obvious Super7 ReAction figures for today in the even more obvious shapes of Unicron and Grimlock on the site all month. The reveal is at once disappointing and intriguing.
Grimlock is the same metallic Grimlock that was revealed this week as part of the regular retail line while Unicron is the same figure released at this past SDCC. The catch here is that both figures come in G1 style boxes that look pretty nice compared the usual card backs. Grimlock is $25 and Unicron is $30, both are available right now. It is kinda cute that they think if Unicron was released in 1986 he'd come in a window box.
Also, following up with the previous story on new ReAction figures we now have pictures to go with the listing.

Feels like forever ago that we first fond out about Hasbro and Walmart's next batch of cartoon colored G1 reissues, but the day has finally come! As part of Walmart's latest Collector Con orders have finally opened for Optimus Prime and Bombshell with Ramhorn. People concerned about the pricing of Prime with his trailer in particular will be happy to know that he's priced at $75, that's quite the contrast to the 2018 reissue of just Prime without the trailer that was $50 on its own! Meanwhile the other set is $35 to finish the Insecticons and give Blaster another tape.
And no, this is not a pre-order, these are ready to go now!

Today Hasbro gave us our first look at the upcoming Transformers Collaborative STAR WARS: The Mandalorian N-1 Starfighter! Interestingly, unlike other Collaborative releases that gave the figure a new name Hasbro decided to go old school and do what they did with the preview Star Wars crossover line and simply gave the name of the character it looks like and the alt mode. In this case the box simply states it's the Mandalorian and the N-1 Starfighter. The MSRP is $55, a little more than other recent Collaborative releases, but he's also a bit bigger at 7.5" placing him within the usual Leader class range (for comparison Agent Knight is 6.5") assuming they're measuring to his head and not his shoulders.
The figure is listed on Hasbro Pulse as a "Partner Exclusive" and Walmart.com is also listing the figure as part of their latest Collector Con meaning it'll likely only see release in those two places in the USA. Both stores have it listed for release in February 2025.
MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE: Transformers robots have always been -- More Than Meets the Eye -- and now fans can experience Transformers characters as they mash-up with iconic characters who share this same quality
TRANSFORMERS COLLABORATIVE STAR WARS: THE MANDALORIAN: Kids can imagine a galaxy of adventure with the Transformers STAR WARS: The Mandalorian N-1 Starfighter converting action figure
CONVERTS FROM STARSHIP TO ACTION FIGURE: The 7.5-inch (19 cm) figure converts between character mode and N-1 starfighter in 37 steps. Inspired by the N-1 starfighter from the STAR WARS galaxy
AWESOME ACCESSORIES: Includes 6 blast effects, 2 blasters, shield, and cape
PLAY AND DISPLAY: The shield and cape convert to a stand to display the figure in N-1 Starfighter mode
The iconic N-1 Starfighter from Star Wars: The Mandalorian is now a converting Transformers toy! This 7.5-inch (19 cm) figure converts from character mode to N-1 starfighter alt mode and features series-accurate deco and details from The Mandalorian series. It includes 6 blast effects that attach in both modes, 2 blasters, and a shield and cape that convert to a display stand for the figure in starship mode. Transformers robots have always been -- More Than Meets the Eye -- but now, through the Transformers Collaborative, fans can experience these larger-than-life characters as they team-up, mash-up, and meet up with other characters, teams, and people who share this same special quality.

Super 7 will have a reveal today for 6 new figures and this will probably be one of them. Found through Diamond by Crazybarkz, we have our first good look at what appears to be Diaclone Devastator. What makes him Diaclone as opposed to G2 is the fact that not all Constructicons are yellow. We have an image of the artwork for the original Diaclone figure for you to compare.
The other reveals we should get later are
Rumble (red)
Ghost of Starscream
Grimlock Metallic
Arcee (prototype)
Optimus Prime (Nucleon Quest Special Mission)
