Like SG Treadshot, SG Ultra Magnus seems to use the RtS Laser Prime mold's alternate head, so it's not a BotCon original. Just its debut.

That'd be interesting, though it kinda looks like the red may just be painted on.

Either way, I may be applying a light black wash to try and bring out the detail a little. I just feel kinda squirrely about doing any customizing to a Botcon exclusive.

Tis but a new design, my friend.BeastProwl wrote:Is it possible he's Homaging a Decepticon Pretender? Looky dat face!
Even though this head was made by Hasbro as a secondary head rather than to specifically be SG Ultra Magnus.Delicon wrote:I'm not really surprised that this head reveal has been controversial at best but thinking back to the original SG set, the heads for Blurr and Roddy got ripped to shreds (and eventually became very popular with the majority of the fandom)
This head was made long before BotCon. It's an unused design that's being used here. This just happens to be its first use.Dr. Heavy B wrote:This is botcons budget this year? Sherman williams paint and a blowtorch?
Probably a new character (regardless of whether or not it'd have a new name).RiddlerJ wrote:If this was an alternate head designed by Hasbro, who were they planning to repaint the mold into?

I really like the idea of Shattered Glass, and still think some of the previous repaints are genius, but these look like under planned, overpriced, 'will this do?' CRAP.
None of the figures shout 'must have' to me, at all, apart from SG Tracks, but with Tracks, Wheeljack, and hopefully Runabout and Runamuck, I can skip that one. Just about....
Oh well, at least SG Drift looks to be the part, and I hopefully won't have to sell a kidney to get one.

Now that you say that...I can totally see that head as originally intending to be a Rebirth Megatron (aka Reverse Convoy) tribute.

Except that he is a blue tank with a great bot mode and 2 good heads.....

I'm gonna guess that the inner face isn't going to be crystal clear. I think the head sculpt just all came in crystal clear.
I think the inner face will be painted a solid color.
I just think their wasn't a person with decent paint skills on the TFCC crew,to paint the inner face sculpt. perhaps painting the inner face takes more painting skills & thinner paint brushes.

Lulz, these are made in a factory, the same that make your regular retail toys.

I guess dying in WFC doesn't merit a figure, but barely being a real character at all does? (looking at you Treadshot)

I just remember it having fangs, which probably gave me the same knee jerk response seeing this new design with fangs.
The head isn't meant to be anyone specific. it's just being used for Magnus.Poyguimogul wrote:LOL, they shoulda just made it shattered Zeta Prime, cuz isn't that what the head was for?

1 & 2- I was referring the head were seeing in this thread being a test shot. that TFCC got in crystal clear plastic. then some TFCC guy painted the outer head helmet. I was saying the final version that TFCC Botcon attendees will buy at botcon will come from the factory in factory painted colors.
