Another third-party Sixshot prototype has surfaced on HK-TF. The producer is unknown at this point, but the figure is labeled BY-01. Images of the prototype in robot mode have been mirrored below. What do you think about the latest character to get to third-party "double dip"? Sound off here.

Atleast this time it's is an easy decision compared to the alternative.

You'd prefer they make unique figures so that we'd have to pay more money? I'm starting to see benefits of this system.
MMC wins, these guys should stop right now, or retool it to become a Quickswitch.

I love Sixshot, but that just looks like crap to me.
Posted by WolfDawg on October 13th, 2011 @ 11:34pm CDT
So yea, these third party figures will never be as affordable as the official Has/Tak releases, but at least they won't be as astronomically priced as before.

I like it the more i look at it.
And now that i think about it i also agree with the healthy competition aspect of same character releases which in turn could promote cheaper cost burden on my poor wallet.

I agree with Mkall here. I enjoy having a choice when it comes to characters. Plus, a little competition is good for the wallet.

WolfDawg wrote:Despite this figure looking like crap, this is pretty good news for 2 reasons. One, this at least gives people an option of which "Classics" Sixshot they want in their collection. Two, because third party companies are finally tackling the same characters all at once, this promotes a sense of competition. And once you have a sense of competition in the world of sales, prices actually go down!

Thats all well and true, but for it (price drop) to really take effect, there has to be a solid show of competition, and at this point, it doesn't appear to exist.
This is a prototype (i guess) so theres no real news to take from this other than its another 3rd party articulate sixshot. But other than that, it looks like crap, and either doesn't pose any competitive threat, or we just haven't seen the real concept product yet (since this looks like it was made in wood work class, and poorly).

Well I guess we can all thank FansProject for setting the bar so high but also unfortunatley opening the floodgates to this combined overflow of subpar "also-ran" companies that are practically tripping over themselves to spit out the next big Bruticus-must-have-item. If these companies keep popping up in garages all over its gonna cause Hasbro/Takara to wisen-up and crack the whip on likeness copyright. Something tells me their not taking too kindly to sharing their cashcow. It's going to be interesting at the very least to see how it plays out in coming years. Here's hoping the fans benefit in the long run.

Can has/tek really do anything if the name is different, and is not actually a copy of their mould? This isn't a clone product from a G1 figure after all... so, hopefully they're fairly safe. ?

This same ebay seller named "CollectorKB". Sells another sixshot custom toy on ebay. this one is a bit bigger & has less joints. I think he used the 1987 sixshot toy & gave it poseable joints. the 2nd one,has limited hip joints range of motion. the seller created a sixshot & great shot versions. the ebay auctions ending bids wanted over $500 for the 2nd bigger version this one is a bit more higher quality than the one being discussed in this thread.
The toy being discussed is a pure piece of garbage. some of the joints the guy literally used rubber or some type of silicon white chalk inside the moving parts. it literally fell apart in my hands while transforming it. I think the seller even went as far as to sell me a repaired version. as their's some repair patch work seen on the toy.
I had to spend a lenghty time repairing the figure & painting it a bit.
I even went as far as to do six U-tube videos showing off the toy.
here are the six u-tube videoes:

I was gonna give the toy away to a few internet TF fans. but I didn't want to see this thing mass produced. I wanted it to stay a ebay exclusive. because it's a awful & horrible toy that should never see mass production.

Your comment seems slightly counter-productive. You can see the benefits of multiple third party characters but you think these guys should stop already. Is that right or do you just think this figure is really bad?
Similar to what MINVVIPE said: two companies making their own versions of the same character does not automatically equal competition. They'd both have to be coming out at a similar time to make people think about which one they want, and even then it might not make a difference. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but El Duque's words at the start of this news item sound like he's getting rather exasperated with the situation.
This isn't the worst looking figure ever, but the gaps in the leg panels are kind of big and the head looks crap. Can't see it besting MasterMind Creations' figure.

I will say i dont think Sixshot can get any better than Hexatron to be honest, but this guy still has potential to be decent when finished alternative Sixshot.
Posted by Astronopolis on October 14th, 2011 @ 7:28am CDT
with that said though, i think it looks pretty good considering the stage its at. some proportions are off and the head is a little off as well, but nothing some refinement couldn't fix.
this doesnt look like your toy deathy, alot of the proportions and shapes dont match up, aside from it being a prototype. there might be some hope for this one yet, maybe a TFC toys release in the works?

Stop with the "me too" KO toys. While it is amazing that you want to make modern toys of classic characters that Takara and Hasbro have ignored for too long, if another company (or two) is already creating a modern version of a character please pick a different character for your toy.
You will probably get better sales if you are the ONLY company making a new toy of a certain character, plus you will be helping collectors fill out their collections better. Most people don't want 2 versions of the same KO figure so they will just go with whichever one is better.
Thanks you for your efforts.

The only way I legitimately see a price benefit is if one or both didn't sell well and they reach clearance. Problem there is 1) if you're that interested you can't really rely on that method working out for you, or 2) the lack of interest could cause the rest of the project for staggered release combiners or future cool projects to fail/not see release. In the end, I just don't see all this so called competition as a great thing. If these guys would put out one great product you don't really need two or a choice, and all putting out two very good ones does is cause you to want both. I could easily live with either Hercules or Giant...and I'd like both, but I don't think I can responsibly purchase both. Hell, it's probably irresponsible to be buying one at those prices, but that's beside the point.

id also like to add that with the irregular sometimes(always delayed) releases of 3rd parties if you pass on something when its available for another version there is no telling if youll get either. the different releases alone will coupled with production numbers make competition unlikely.
and for the record i now have third party fatigue. if your a third party be original thats what got my interest in the first place sheesh

I paid over $350 for it. the toy is very loose in the joints. stuff is literally glued on with elmers glue & falls off extremly easily. the guy who did this, painted it by hand & he didn't do a professional job.
the articulated jointed look like the guy took Q-Tips & turned then into pegged joints. the guy even went as far as to use some weird silicone based chalk for some of the moving joints. needless to say the silicone/chalk wears off very easy, breaks down & the toy falls apart into dozens of pieces like peanut brittle.
Personally this guy who created this thing did a awful job. I'm writting this EXTREMLY NEGATIVE REVIEW because I don't want to see any internet TF fans lose money. this thing isn't worth anything over $20.
I certainly don't want to see anyone paying over $70 for this thing.
HEXATRON,Is the superior toy. I plan on buying a few of this mold. the guys who created hexatron used superior joints, superior plastic, strong engineering & awesome design.

Well mabey being a new? 3party there not going to have the cheap ko parts yours did if they want to be competition in 3p game.
Sixshot is sixshot he looks like he does, being the same size dosent mean its the same as yours with a few mods.
i dont know much about this stuff but if it was yours would they not have a more perfect mould already than this to show off as this looks like a scratch built model meaning their creation.

I've examined the pics on the first page & compared them against my copy. they both appear to be equally inferior & the same size scale.
I'm not here to argue with anyone. I just wanted to WARN everyone this thing is garbage & don't waste your money on this. it will fall apart in your hands.
