Hmm thats interesting, the arms on Ironhide look to be actually painted where the stickers would normally go. Could this mean a Legends Re-release with paint apps instead of decails?

That would be royally disappointing for people who want a new G1-based Ironhide over a Prime-based one.

I dunno, i'd like it, Prime "Arn-hahhhd" kinda looks like his IDW counterpart when drawn by Sarah Stone. Not exact but close-ish.

Also there's more than a few differences between the one next to chromia and the A.M one.

Most differences I can see are that Yuki's is missing the stickers that go on its lower legs and has Kup's cannons attached. Any other color differences can be attributed to lighting.

TF Yuki has posted new images of Legends Leader Class Jetfire, both in and out of packaging, and even some with his old frenemy Starscream! A news submission from Seibertron.com board member Cyberpath has pointed us in the direction of Yuki's Twitter, where these new pictures originate, and we've mirrored them here.

Takara Tomy's version of Jetfire has all of the chrome removed and has painted weapon barrels, which is great for those fans who didn't want the chrome on the US release. To compare the two figures, take a look at Yuki's images below and then check out the US Jetfire by clicking here to see our gallery of Hasbro's Leader Jetfire. Package of "LG07 Jet Fire" will be released the end of the month, has been packaged in other items as well vehicle mode of series. The silhouette of jet mode that is visible from the package window, mind you dance it ♪

Surprisingly, aside from the black barrels, I'm actually preferring the chromed accessories on Hasbro's version. The few extra paint apps are nice though, but nothing reprolabels can't fix...

Edit: I've just realised, probably rather late - but the Legends one seems to be lacking the metallic paint of the earlier Takara Generations/United lines that made the decos far superior in most cases (in my mind). Sure there's a few extra paint apps on JF, and Arcee is more screen accurate, but the "punch" just doesn't seem to be there....

Agreed. The only Hasbro set that I've come across recently where they actually used chrome and had it look decent was the Optimus two pack with the Classics Optimus and the AoE Evasion Mode Optimus packaged together. The Classics Optimus actually looked good with it and Hasbro didn't go overboard. Of course, they drastically overused it on every other version of Optimus and most of the Grimlocks from the AoE line so I imagine they were running out of the stuff by the time they produced that two-pack.

I make four. I've liked the way chrome has been applied on some figures, but notLeader Jetfire. Especially when the entirely chromed weapons preclude barrel detailing. Show accurate Jetfire be damned, the Takara one just looks more cohesive.

I wasn't terribly thrilled by the chrome, but wow, that looks a lot worse than preliminary photos had looked. Especially the boosters, they look so cheap. I think they really messed up here, should have gone with a bit darker red on those parts. As is, I'm glad I have the chromed up one now.

Yeah I can see those whose POV enjoy the cartoon accuracy much more. I for one dig the homage to the G1 toy this really represents then that of Hasbro's. The G1 toy didn't have any shiny paint or chrome especially for the boosters. I really wish Takara would do the same as they did with Henkei Jetfire and give him a red visor for that almost perfect G1 representation. If you all know Hasbro did blue as they are now with the leader class and I think Takara should do it red...but I got a feeling that won't happen this time.

Anyway this is looking so sweet and I'm glad I held off the temptation of buying the Hasbro release! :VEHI:

I can honestly say the better plastic rumor has no basis in fact. I have Arms Micron Breakdown, Smokescreen and Unicron, as well as AD-31 Armor Knight Optimus from AoE and the plastic is the same as the US version, just different shades and paint decos.

The only time Takara has superior plastic is when they don't use GPS color plastic. A good example of this is Metals Megatron, who still holds up to this day, while Transmetals Megatron just falls apart.

Takara's used crappy GPS plastic as well, so they're no better than Hasbro on that part of it.

G.old P.lastic S.yndrome. It seems to be fixed now, but in the '80s and '90s, the plastics weren't mixed and made quite the same way they are today. The metallic flecks would prevent a solid cohesion and over time, the plastic bonds would degrade and lead to crumbling.

For Megatron, it's his waist and sometimes the tail connector. It doesn't have to be exactly gold, either. Any plastic that had swirls and/or metallic flecks in it was susceptible.

Here's a good example of what GPS can do:

Wait, what? Takara's isn't homaging the G1 toy. It's based on the preliminary stock photos of the Hasbro version before Hasbro decided to chrome theirs out and remove a few paint apps.

Image

Notice the black cannon barrels, red ankles, and the read torso stripes. All present on Takara's, but missing on Hasbro's. Yet, this image was from Hasbro way back at Toy Fair 2014.

Later this year, Hasbro released newer official images that reflected the changes made to the final toy:

Thus, Takara's ends up looking more like the original plans for the figure from Hasbro (and in turn ends up looking more comic-accurate:)

When it rains, it pours!

Just got Whirl and Roadbister. Whirl, I was verrrrrrrry with his knee though transforming him made me sweat like crazy. I don't think I'm transforming him back to copter mode again.

RB is kind of weird. My Hasbro version's feet when pushed in locks well but the Tomy version, it's hard to lock in place and the shoulder joints are very loose. Has the mold deteriorated that fast? And the brown ain't so dark.

Both guys come with a comic+instruction manual. In Whirl's case, there's a scene with Ai chan with a swords and sorcery bikini armor Whirl RB's comic, there's a scene where Whirl sort of imprisons a girl with pig tails.

Will upload pics later.

With my Hasbro Whirl, I just never bent his upper knee joint and always left it straight. If I want him to have a bent knee pose, I just rotate his legs around to face backwards and use the lower knee joints as his knees and his ski heels as toes (which make for a more G1-accurate look anyway).

Ryan's done the same in some of his Whirl gallery pics:

Thanks for the heads up Sabr. Also, thanks to Ryan's pic, the rotor blades on his rear tail, no red stripe. Hasbro has the decals, that's a plus but his G1 toy color motiff is easy on the eyes.

Edit: His arm joints are sooooooooooooo thin. These should have been made die-cast, like those knee joints of his (similar to Delicate Warrior. This by no means putting down the mold but should that not have veen considered?

They're also hexagonal. Shaving them would destroy their ability to function.

ive got legends whirl and cloud shockwave on the way hoping that they had fixed those knees.

i was examining my generations whirl to see if there was a way to dismantle the knees and shave down those joints, but it appears they are held in with pins. does anyone know how to take pins out?

If I left the impression I busted my Whirl, nope. Still functional but I'm kind of scared transforming him back to copter mode again.

The scary knee joint loosens up some after you manipulate it the first time. Just make sure you're holding the base of the joint by the thin black connector piece when you apply force, and you should be OK.

Thanks! I have him on the way too (and maybe shockwave is the bidding works out)
