megatronus wrote:Calm down. Unless you believe Takara to be omniscient, you should cut them some slack for producing something we want so badly.
Except it's not just the delay and the demand and desire for MP Prowl has been anything but unrelated to Takara's marketting cmapign with it. Prowl was already a case of "shut up and take my money" from the outset to alot of us. On top of that you have Shogo Hasui running a major twitter hype building campaign on a figure which already has high expectations. That builds anticipation. Then they not only delay the figure, but keep on building hype for it.
When you carry out a marketing campaign that way while delaying a figure, eventually something will give and it'll wind up pissing people off.
Tbh I was fine with it all until Hasui kept building the hype after the figure had been delayed. At that point it crossed over from enticing customers to slightly alienating them and from memory it either didn't happen when Soundwave was delayed, or was nowhere near as bad.

At this point though it's no longer a gift horse in the mouth. The marketing machine stopped being that when Hasui kept hyping the figure up this month when it had become delayed and most of us were anticipating it. The last couple of teasers have been more like what happens when someone carries a joke too far and people start getting ticked off by it.

Yeah, I know what you mean now. Thats like I tell you that I made a new magic trick but I don't show you it for a entire year or so and that whole time I'm telling you all about it and showing you the props and equipment but then I delay showing you the trick, after a while the intended spectators are going to be saying shut up about it already, lol.

all kidding aside, he looks awesome and I don't mind the delay in hopes that they were fine tuning or making fixes in the production process. Honestly the wait between first reveal and release of these figures run so long (I think it's been about a year since the first non-silhouette shot was released), that I just ignore release dates until TFS tells me my order was shipped. It's kind of a shame that he's so chesty, but even the masterpieces look better from some angles than others.
That shot on one leg makes me think the weight distribution and strength of the joints on this guy should be superb.

Pretty sure it's been Order Stop for quite some time now. They can only take so many preorders. But the release is very soon, so it should be any day now, like you said.
Edit: Derp, spoke too soon, just got the payment request now. Now for the long, agonizing wait for Streak to be released.

He moved in there with the Optimus Prime/Bumblebee pack ... and Metroplex.
Combine that with Blitzwing and Springer, that's gonna be a big box.

I've forever rereading stuff because of that, though they are never that funny

Kind of reminds me of a hammerhead shark.
Btw, one of the photos above is an homage to the G1 boxart.

There were a few interesting Diaclone and Microchange concepts we never saw- like Battle Convoy's shoulder Cannon, Megatron's add-ons turning into a buggy and MC-22. Something really has to be said for the designs of the late 70s and early 80s.

I would like to see how Megatron turned into a buggy

Wasn't too sure if that was him or not. Had some details that made me think of Megatron as well, like a mix between the two.Bowspearer wrote:You left out Overlord.

Whoa, Powermaster Rodimus Prime. Cool ! And he appears to be a fire truck based on what looks like a ladder hanging off his back.
That moon lander bot is pretty neat too.

It may well have been the original concept. Remember, there was originally a radically different prototype for Godbomber too:

That's "New Rodimus", not a Powermaster.xyl360 wrote:Whoa, Powermaster Rodimus Prime.

I would love to see more concept art of this nature, and of course toys.

Very observant. Many of the Diaclone and G1 Tranformers heads were based on Samurai helmets. The crests, horns, and faceplates are the most notable features. (This was a common theme in Japanese robot cartoons in the 1980s.

Funny that you bring up Wildrider's head, just last night I found this article about the Stunticons, suggesting that Floro Dery worked off early toy designs of the Stunticons when he created their cartoon models. (Save for Motormaster.)
It explains why their cartoon-heads are so different than the finalised toy-heads. And how Dragstrip got his horizontal two-wheels shoulders.
Not really related to Prowl, but an interesting piece of trivia.

The reason the stunticons toy heads are so different is because of 1986 combiner port technology that required square heads. I dont know if the toys were created after the cartoon or vice-versa, But it was the release of Menasor and Superion that introduced the square head for all G1 combiner limb figures to come. That's why I hate when 3rd parties go with toy accurate heads and ignore cartoon accuracy. The heads were square for a reason and it wasnt to look cool.
