Will there be less people in the sequel and more CGI? Who came up with the robot designs? Who Decided which robot desgn was best? Who decided what robots to include in the movie?
Good questions Skywarp.

Funny though, directors wouldn't dare change the same things on another franchise. For instance...What if they took wolverine and put him in blue/red flame tights, a predator head, and gave him a gun hand instead of 3 blades?
It's just so far from established characters. Cripes.

Is the classic G1 dynamic between Megatron and Starscream intact in the film?
Who is voicing Starscream?
After hearing a recent recording of Frank Welker doing the classic Megatron voice, I'm convinced he's still one of the most talented voice actors in the industry. Why did you only go half way in placating the fans by casting Peter Cullen, when he works best when he's playing off Frank Welker?
Will we see Shockwave, Soundwave, Devastator, or the Dinobots in the sequel?
Is Unicron being considered for the sequels, or are more original ideas going to be pursued?
Will the classic G1 theme be used in some form in the film?

Why were the red Autobot & purple Decepticon logos replaced with bland steel versions? Do giant alien robots not like color?
I know, it's not much, but I figured he was going to get enough "why does Megatron's design, Starscream's design, & the rest of your decisions about this movie all suck?" questions, so I figured, what's the point?

To be fair, what sensible questions can be asked of a man who has so brazenly disregarded the history of a much loved franchise and in some cases openly mocked the fanbase, without which there would be no market for a film. Banal and inane questions seem well in keeping with the general theme and direction Bay has taken this film. That and he's a poopy pants.Brakethrough wrote:I seriously hope the questions asked amount to more than what's been posted here.

If you look at Bumblebee and Prime, they both sport red Autobot logos, don't know about any Decpeticons yet. Seems like the steel ones might just be for promotion. Not a bad question though.
I agree with the comments about asking *real* questions and not just making digs at Bay. We've there and done that, and it's not going to change anything now.

Probably out of anger.
Scratch that, reasonable anger. Wouldn't you be mad if a bunch of people kept yelling and swearing at you for every move you made on a movie where you get as much creative liscence as you want? I would.
The idiots who keep bitching are swearing out of irrational anger. "He raped my childhood" is not a good reason.
So, you know, despite the fact that was clearly a jab at a point I made, thank you very much, Mr. Roboto, for helping me prove another point.

"fans" will get in the way, and wordship him. Whatever...
Or, he would answer vagely and not give away anything. I am very curious to who was the designer of Megatron and Starscream and will they be redesigned in the sequel and the rest of the bots to something less of an eye sore, at least less alien, bird, monkey, or a pug thing.

Of course Bay, Murphy, and the crew could have pleased us by listening to us and didn't lead us to believe it was G1 (remember when it was officially announced the G1 Optimus under a tarp?) when it's a G1, Armada, Cybertron, Beast Machines hybrid. Note to anybody making a movie based off of something; listen to the fanbase and do make they want to see and not make it what you want it to be.

A movie made simply to please Transformers fans, and not even all Transformers fans because not everyone is a huge G1 fan, would not make any money. Last I checked, they wanted to make money off of this.
I kind of wish they hadn't listened to any of us, because then there wouldn't be this sense of entitlement to what should be in this movie.

You're welcome, I guess, but, dude, that wasn't a jab! It was in support of what you said! I'm excited about the movie and am not one of the people you speak of! Though, I do consider some of Bay's (and co.) language when addressing people in interviews a bit strong, and it certainly does not seem to be out of anger. Have you read them?

Have you seen any movies where the people making it didn't listen to the fans & went off of their own ideas? I can name a few...Super Mario Bros, Double Dragon, Dungeons & Dragons, Street Fighter, Resident Evil (why are there so many video game-based movies like this?)....& they all pretty much bombed. Fans here just want the best possible TF movie there can be.....things just tend to go their seperate ways after that, though, because everybody has their own ideas about what would work the best. For some, that's everything Bay stands against....for others, well, let's just say they seem to think Bay craps gold nuggets. The Paragon of Virtue wrote:Fireblast wrote:Of course Bay, Murphy, and the crew could have pleased us by listening to us and didn't lead us to believe it was G1 (remember when it was officially announced the G1 Optimus under a tarp?) when it's a G1, Armada, Cybertron, Beast Machines hybrid. Personally, I'm kinda sitting on the fence. There's some things he did cool, but I wish he stuck to the source material a bit better(probably didn't help that Hasbro didn't care to stick to the source material, either). I'm still hoping that this will be a good movie, & the more I see, the more I think it'll be about right.

Fireblast wrote:I'd ask him "Why did you decide Bumblebee as a Volkswagon makes him look too much like Herbie the love bug?" "Why do we see General Motors vehicles in the movie when you have other brands out there that produce better vehicles?"
VW made it clear to Hasbro & Takara that they would not license their cars to them for Transformers because they do not want their cars associated with guns and war. It probably has to do with WWII thing since VW made vehicles and tanks during WWII and wants to stay far away from that image.
Also, Don Murphy mentioned that Bay has a good relationship with GM. He typically uses GM for his movies and it was more effective to stay with one car maker (from a contractual standpoint).
Fireblast wrote: "Why make Transformers Alien VS Predator like when they are basically giant mechanical transforming beings?"
He has mentioned several times that robots in his movie are a realistic representation. However, I agree that I don't personally like them.
Fireblast wrote:"Why bother taking on the role of director for Transformers when all your movies cost a lot to make, majority of film goers think your movies suck, your movies have a few well known actors and a bunch of crappy unknowns, and if he's proud of ruining a 20 year plus legacy of Transformers?"
Michael Bay actually did not want to be director. He mentioned in a couple interviews that Spielberg approached him for the role and he first refused it. It took some convincing before Bay accepted the role.

You say this like I'm not among the fans here.
As I said (or Lincoln did ), you can't please everyone. They've listened to the fans at points, but it's never enough. There are too many varying opinions to please everyone. A lot of people wanted Frank Welker, some wanted David Kaye, some wanted someone else. You can't make all of those people happy at once, it's not feasible, so they have to go for the mass market approach. I want the best possible thing too, but I'd just like to see a bit more logic about this process.
And there are examples of movies that didn't follow their source material to any amount that are considered classics, such as James Whale's "Frankenstein," Kubrick's "The Shining," and the Weismueller version of "Tarzan the Ape Man."

Example: 99 people could submit intelligently phrased questions about why the design team for the movie made the Transformers look like generic movie villains, but the one Yahoo will choose is the shmuck who says "Y did you %@#% my childhood with your @%^# designs... Geee-wun 4ever!" allowing Bay to laugh away such questions.
My favorite fake promotional thing so far is the Yahoo video contest... where we see everyone standing in line somewhere and a "Female Transformer Fan" (TM applied for) yells "Oh my God! This is my favorite one! Autobots!" (after being handed a Classics Mirage... And acting as if his name was... Autobots...).
*sigh*

Although he did it first, it doesn't mean he did it best.

Yes, but it was one of the things that made him the character that he was. He was a backstabber who talked big, but was actually a winy coward when things went wrong (in the series). The voice fit perfectly!
